Chapter 15
After my hot spring bath and a full-body massage with fragrant oils, I finally stood before the wedding dress worn by the former Queen of Pritan.
My body, hazy with exhaustion, was poked and prodded by multiple hands, but I lacked the energy to resist.
When they told me to lift my arms, I did. When they told me to turn, I turned.
Sophie and Adele carefully draped the wedding dress over my head.
It was a simple yet elegant gown, slightly loose at the waist, but with the back laced up tightly with ribbons until it fit perfectly.
Looking closer, I noticed that the hem was adorned with hundreds of tiny diamonds, each no bigger than a pinky nail. It was as if an entire basket of diamonds had been poured onto the fabric.
“Your hair is incredibly soft. The color is so unique, too,” Sophie murmured as she brushed my long locks, admiring them.
With skilled hands, she twisted my hair into an updo, revealing the graceful curve of my neck.
Satisfied with the result, Sophie stepped back, smiling in approval.
“Where’s Millie?”
“She went to pick out jewelry and shoes. Since she knows Your Majesty’s taste best, we thought she should choose.”
Your Majesty… It felt a little strange, but I supposed I should start getting used to it. After all, by the time this wedding was over, it would officially be my title.
Just as my makeup was nearly finished, Millie entered, carrying an armful of jewelry and shoe boxes, followed by several attendants.
Upon seeing me, she became teary-eyed with emotion. I smirked playfully.
“What? Do I look weird?”
“…You look absolutely beautiful.”
Hurriedly wiping her eyes, Millie opened a jewelry box and began holding various necklaces, earrings, and bracelets against my skin.
Since she had chosen them with the dress in mind, everything matched perfectly.
However, she frowned slightly, seemingly unsatisfied.
“What’s wrong?”
“When I picked the jewelry, everything seemed like it would work…”
“But?”
“Now that I see it all together, the dress highlights your figure so well that overly extravagant jewelry feels unnecessary.”
Millie opted for a pair of simple diamond studs and a delicate necklace featuring a violet gemstone.
“This is… amethyst?”
“No, it’s a purple diamond. They’re incredibly rare, but Pritan is known for its unique diamonds.”
Millie stepped back one last time to inspect my overall appearance.
“Wow, the diamonds and your eye color match perfectly!!”
Even Sophie and Adele gasped in admiration.
“You look flawless!!”
The reflection in the mirror was, even to my own eyes, quite stunning.
That’s right—there was no more unwanted, illegitimate daughter of House Uzcal. In Pritan, I was going to start a brand-new life!
As I silently vowed to myself, a knock sounded from outside.
“Are you ready?”
Nodding, I reached out for Millie’s hand. She quickly handed me a bouquet of white lilies.
Taking a deep breath, I said firmly,
“Let’s go.”
For all the chaos and frantic preparations, the wedding itself was remarkably simple and quick.
The only guests were Duke Mark Zenon, the chancellor, William, and the six knights who had accompanied me on my journey.
A young priest from the Holy Empire officiated, conducting the ceremony with efficiency and precision.
I stole a sideways glance at King Mikrok.
Dressed in a form-fitting white ceremonial uniform, he looked absolutely perfect. From this angle, his jawline and nose appeared even sharper.
As if sensing my gaze, his deep blue eyes casually flickered toward me.
For a moment, my heart stopped.
‘Wow… my husband is
really
handsome!’
From that moment on, I stopped processing anything the priest was saying.
The words blurred into a distant hum.
The lightning-fast pace of the ceremony, the officiant himself, and even the man standing beside me all felt surreal.
Then again, the most surreal thing here was undoubtedly my husband’s face.
Even after running on dirt roads and rolling through forests, he had still looked ridiculously handsome. Now, cleaned up and polished, his face practically
glowed
.
An overwhelming sense of satisfaction welled up inside me.
‘Mom, I followed your last wish. I married a “face genius” husband. Does this mean I’ll finally get to be happy?’
As I silently posed my unanswerable question, the ceremony reached its final stage.
The young priest regarded us solemnly before speaking.
“By the authority vested in me by the Holy Goddess Vestea, I hereby pronounce Mikrok, King of Pritan, and Leah, Queen of Pritan, as husband and wife.”
The knights erupted into cheers and applause.
The chancellor bowed deeply before us, and William, along with the other knights, knelt in loyalty.
Smiling softly, I looked up at the man who was now my husband.
Mikrok Pritan, from this moment on, you are my husband.
Suddenly, his deep blue eyes gleamed, and he lowered his face toward mine.
Chup!
Just like when I had stolen a kiss from him in the valley, his lips barely brushed mine before pulling away.
The unexpected kiss startled me for a moment, but I reassured myself that it was simply part of the wedding customs. If I overreacted, I’d look ridiculous.
But then—
He suddenly pulled me in by the waist and the nape of my neck.
Unlike the brief peck before, this time his lips crashed down onto mine, biting and releasing my lower lip in a fierce claim.
Startled, my lips parted slightly—giving him the opening to deepen the kiss.
I barely had time to breathe. The intensity of it made my knees go weak.
Thankfully, he was holding onto me tightly, sparing me from the humiliation of collapsing in front of everyone.
The priest let out an awkward cough, and the knights cheered even louder, but their voices felt distant, like a dream.
And just like that—
I had become the Queen of Pritan.
Once the eventful wedding was over, Millie finally let out a deep sigh of relief.
As Leah disappeared into the bridal chamber, Millie unconsciously sank onto the staircase, releasing the tension in her shoulders.
“You must be exhausted.”
A deep voice sounded behind her, and she snapped her head up to see William looking down at her with concern.
She quickly scrambled to her feet.
“Sir William!”
“You must be tired too. You didn’t even get a chance to rest after arriving, since you were helping with the wedding preparations.”
“I’m fine. Lady Leah—I mean,
Her Majesty
—had it much harder.”
“Well, either way, I’m glad you made it through the journey.”
Unexpectedly touched by his words, Millie lowered her gaze shyly. William observed her for a moment before asking,
“Is Pritan Castle too cold for you?”
“I was so busy that I didn’t even notice if it was cold or warm. Sir Ralph made sure to bring plenty of fur cloaks, though.”
William nodded slowly. Then, without warning, he took her hand and placed two small heating magic stones into her palm.
After witnessing Mikrok fuss over Leah so much, William had found himself oddly concerned about Millie.
So, he had gone out of his way to buy these with his own money.
“What’s this?”
Millie curiously inspected the warm stones in her hands.
“They generate heat on their own, but when they touch your skin, they become even warmer. Keep one in each pocket, and it’ll help with the cold.”
“Wow, this is amazing! Should I give these to Her Majesty?”
“No, that’s not—!”
“Ahem. Her Majesty the Queen has plenty of better ones. So these… are for you.”
“Wow~ Really?!”
Millie beamed like a child receiving a brand-new toy, and seeing her so delighted, William felt his own mood lift as well.
“We’re heading out soon, so after this, you’ll finally get some rest. Just hang in there a little longer.”
“You’re leaving soon? Right now?”
“Yeah. You didn’t know?”
“Then… what about the wedding night?”
The mention of the king’s wedding night made William inexplicably flustered.
“Well… I mean, His Majesty summoned the knights for departure immediately, so I doubt there’s time for that…”
