SoulLand:Ascending to Godhood through Science

Chapter 98: Chapter 98: You Chen’s Decision (Part 2)

God-Elephant Suppression Strength has a unique characteristic: "The higher the foundational physical qualities and life level, the faster the cultivation speed."

The higher one's level and the stronger one's physical foundation, the easier the cultivation process becomes. In fact, certain stages can't even be cultivated until one reaches a corresponding realm.

For instance, the "Perfection" stage of this technique, which involves nurturing a god-elephant within the particles of the body, requires a minimum foundational level equivalent to a Title Douluo. Even then, achieving it is theoretically the bare minimum. The difficulty is akin to Luo Feng from Swallowed Star cultivating the "Lie Yuan Technique" at the Universe Master level, requiring unimaginable physical potential.

At his current life level, equivalent to a Soul King, You Chen, with his strong foundational physical attributes and natural aptitude for physical cultivation, has spent a year cultivating the "Giant Elephant" or "Entry" stage of the technique, yet has only achieved one-third of its completion.

If he continues progressing at his current state, his cultivation speed will naturally slow down. The same resources would yield much higher efficiency if he were to break through to the Soul Emperor level before resuming cultivation.

You Chen could, in theory, take the path of pure physical development, disregarding the balance of martial spirit, energy, and essence entirely. He could focus on absorbing spirit rings, raising his soul power level and physical strength as quickly as possible.

By advancing to the Soul Sage realm rapidly, he could spend a few years fully completing the "Entry" stage, attaining combat strength comparable to a Title Douluo.

From there, all his resources could be poured into physical cultivation. With no distractions like experimenting with the Soul Power Borrowing Technique, he could break through the bottleneck of God-Elephant Suppression Strength. Once he surpasses the "Entry" stage and reaches "Small Accomplishment," cultivating the micro-level "dragon-elephant particles," he could achieve Super Douluo combat strength in no time.

At the end of this path, he might even possess the ability to overturn fate itself through sheer strength.

This is just an extreme example.

While God-Elephant Suppression Strength offers limitless potential, You Chen's innate aptitude for physical cultivation is only average. Considering that the continental upheaval would erupt in merely a few decades, he wouldn't put all his eggs in this one basket.

The system's rewards had already demonstrated vast potential for growth.

This meant that pursuing the second path might end up being a fool's errand, simply delaying his progress for marginal gains.

In the past year, You Chen had already maximized his short-term potential, raising his strength to its peak. Even if he continued researching, his strength would see no significant improvement in the short term. To advance further, he had to absorb new spirit rings.

As the Soul-Battle Beasts rested and reorganized, You Chen appeared calm on the surface, but internally, his thoughts were turbulent.

Even with his decisive nature, he found himself uncharacteristically conflicted.

This decision could dramatically alter the future, shifting the course of history itself.

Two or three years—or even longer.

Choosing the second path would come at the cost of such time.

Was that a long period?

The original timeline saw the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan devastated and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan annihilated just 13 or 14 years from now.

"No, that's not right!"

You Chen suddenly realized something.

While researching the Two-Ring Borrowing Technique might require around three years, he didn't need that long to reach level 60!

He almost deceived himself.

Ever since acquiring the system, his dormant ambition had flared up again. However, he had spent the past year deliberately suppressing it, exercising restraint and patience. This discipline had seemingly pushed his mindset into an extreme state.

He reminded himself that just a year ago, he was merely a marginal figure seeking to retreat from the world, disengage from Spirit Hall, and avoid the continental war looming in the future.

He had waited patiently for years before giving up on his limits. Why now, faced with a wait of merely three more years for a possibility, was he so restless and anxious, forgetting that his options were never truly constrained?

Even Tang San, the protagonist of the original work, advanced step by step before the Seagod Trials, the official divine shortcut. Even with the trials, progression required time and effort.

And himself? With the advantage of a second life, he could leap dozens of levels in a short time whenever needed.

Even if he delayed by three years, it would hardly be considered a catastrophic loss.

Thinking this through, You Chen couldn't help but laugh at himself. His mind cleared, and he felt an unexpected sense of ease.

To execute his future plans, the strength of his companions and subordinates would also be essential.

The Soul-Battle Beasts, now in their prime, needed time to mature as well.

Though personal strength ultimately decided the course of events, if he focused solely on his own power and neglected other forces, how could he maintain the careful, methodical approach that defined his character?

With a cooler head, You Chen quickly realized that he had trapped himself in the mindset of "I must achieve this before everything is set in stone" and "I must overturn my destined path." This self-imposed pressure had blinded him.

Once he broke free from this black-and-white thinking, his heart became calm and clear, like a mirror wiped clean of dust.

His thoughts, like clear spring water, flowed freely once more.

He began examining himself and the issue from new angles.

If he had never realized the potential of the Two-Ring Borrowing Technique, what would he have done? Would he have thought advancing his second persona's spirit rings now was a mistake? The answer was clearly no.

His every choice was always based on what was relatively correct, not absolutely perfect.

His pursuit was never for unattainable perfection.

"If I know I'll regret not pursuing the Two-Ring Borrowing Technique now, it means this isn't the optimal time to advance."

Though this choice might deviate from the "absolute best" path, You Chen would still follow it.

"Let's return!" You Chen waved his hand and issued the order to the now-reassembled Soul-Battle Beasts.

The group left the Star Dou Forest in a grand procession, eventually arriving at the true headquarters of the Soul-Battle Beasts in the Star Luo Empire.

Passing through the borders of Star Luo City, they entered the territory of the Starlight Principality and finally settled in a valley on the outskirts of the Asturias Mountain Range.

This valley served as the training base and logistical headquarters for the Beast Soldiers and Beast Masters. It was also the location of You Chen's personal research facility, established after being fully marginalized by Bibi Dong and excluded from Spirit Hall's resources.
