Sovereign of the Forgotten Era

Chapter 16: But I’m no hero

After extracting the memories of the old man, Azrael also delved into the minds of the young woman and the young man. From them, he gained even more information.

The old man had been just a regular person in his 70s, a 3rd Star Master. But in this world, there were thousands like him—strong individuals everywhere. the main thing Azrael noted, was the planet's immense gravity.

When he arrived, the gravitational pull had been so intense that it dragged him down at an extreme speed. He had to use his power to slow himself. Even now, he was constantly using his strength to stabilize his body.

However, the people of this world had been born here, naturally adapting to its gravity—just as humans on Earth were adapted to their planet's gravitational force. If a human were born on Mars, they would eventually adapt to Martian gravity in the same way.

Azrael mused, "I'll need to adjust to this gravity. It should take about seven days. Until then, I'll stay hidden in this cave."

While waiting, he reflected on the information he had gathered from the memories of the three people.

"First, the name of this world is Eldoria."

"According to my understanding, there are three continents... but the old man believed there were only two. This means the third continent is so far away that most people don't even know it exists. However, powerful figures who have lived long enough or reached a high level of strength may be aware of it—or may have even visited it. But for now, that's just speculation."

"As for Star Masters, they use Origin Core Energy… but it's fundamentally different from how I use it. They draw energy from the core, while I use the core itself as my power source. It's like comparing people with water bottles to someone who controls an endless ocean. When I was in the City of Fustar (refer to Chapter 4), about 300 people had around 25% of my power each. Back then, I had only a single core. But now, I've accumulated so much that I've created an entire universe inside my body. My skin itself has become a universal barrier, protecting me."

"Right now, I'd estimate that I'm as powerful as a Rank 7 Star Master. But since I haven't seen or sensed anyone at that level, I can't be entirely certain. However, from what the old man said, the king of this Country is a Rank 6 Star Master. I had QiQi investigate, and according to its scan, this king is weak. Since I haven't encountered a true Rank 7 yet, I can't be sure where I stand. But what I do know is that I am far beyond Rank 6. Even if a hundred Rank 6 Star Masters attacked me, I could wipe them all out effortlessly."

"For now, my priority remains adapting to this gravity. Once I've fully adjusted, I'll extract more memories to better understand this world. Then, I'll meet the king and see just how powerful a Rank 6 Star Master really is."

Seven Days Later

Azrael had finally adapted to the planet's gravity and could use his power more freely. After stretching and testing his abilities, he emerged from the cave and set his sights on the city.

He activated a skill to hide his presence and began abducting more people—this time, to extract even more memories about the world. However, after scanning through their knowledge, he realized the city itself held nothing of interest to him. Without hesitation, he made a direct move toward meeting the king.

With a single step, he vanished from the city.

What he didn't realize, however, was the chaos he had just unleashed.

To him, it was a simple matter—kidnapping a few people to extract their memories. But he had unknowingly left behind a trail of fear and confusion. While he had hidden himself, he had made no effort to conceal his actions. His targets had included young men and women, but mostly the elderly—those who carried the most knowledge.

And why should he care?

To him, these people were insignificant. Their lives didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. His goal was always the Origin Core—not the preservation of the weak.

"That's what heroes do," he thought. "But I'm no hero."
