Space Odyssey: Spectre

Jace reeled back in surprise and was not the only one to do so as the holotable suddenly went to static. Jace frowned and looked over to where the communication station was located. "Why were we cut off?"

"Uh… communications are down… on our end?" The communication seemed to realize what he was saying after a moment. "We are being jammed!"

"Hey. Hey! HEY!" Another of the bridge officers began screaming, "We have multiple contacts dropping out of subspace!"

Jace then looked over at the main view monitor to see several enemy spaceships appear out of the void of nothingness. "What do you do to warn the ship that there is an emergency?" Jace asked as he realized this was an attack, one they were likely completely unprepared for.

Nila walked over to a panel and after a few taps the lights turned to flashing between red and green while the speakers began blaring noise and a voice over could be heard behind it. The voice was speaking in several different languages and it was likely all saying the same thing, "All hands to battle stations!"

Jace looked at the ship officers, "give me an assessment!"

"We have multiple enemy vessels. We have already begun firing on them, but they immediately launched several smaller ships that were heading right for us." One of the officers hurriedly explained.

"Close the hangars. They will probably try a boarding maneuver. Inform the ship that we will have hostels on board, so they need to arm themselves." Jace declared and then looked at his squad's second in command, "Nila-"

"Go get the squad ready for combat?" Nila asked in confusion.

"No, find us some weapons. Get in contact with the Cerberus Squad but inform them to prepare themselves for battle. We do not have enough time to get down there and get ready ourselves." Jace told her, "tell them when they are ready to leave some to guard the rooms and have the rest head toward the nearest enemy boarding party." Jace ordered as he moved to the holotable and began manipulating it. "Solisa, are you awake!?!"

"I am indeed. I apologize for not being able to detect the incoming attack." Solisa quickly appeared in her Otter form. "But I have already conducted a scan of the enemy ship, I do not know if they got here but their main power source is down."

"Move the Venture in and start firing on them," Jace ordered as he pulled up a digital schematic of the ship and spotted several locations at airlocks and other spots where Solisa was marking with a red 'X'. Jace began sending out orders to the nearest armed individuals about the breaches. "Target the power source first, we can go back to finish them off later. Solisa highlights the assumed location of enemy power source aboard those ships."

"Aye Aye!" Solisa did a mock salute and then disappeared.

A moment later there was a dinging noise and then the General's voice could be heard through the holotable. "Bridge, this is General Isaiah. What is going on?"

"General Isaiah, several ships just-"

Jace stopped mid-explanation when the ship shook. He looked to one of the bridge officers. "We are fine, we fired on one of the enemy ships and there was a chain reaction. More shock and less damage." The officer explained.

"Several enemy ships dropped out of space in front of us. A jamming field went up and they sent out several ships to board not just us, but other allied ships that are still in orbit around the planet, Yati. We have had four ships already dock at various airlocks, I am having the closest armed units respond." Jace explained as he double tasked by sending out the orders he was talking about while explaining the situation to General Isaiah, "in addition the enemy ship's power is down. So we are getting closer to disable or destroy them."

"Good, I am on my way." General Isaiah declared, "tell the security officer on duty to send out 'Code 01-26' they will understand." He then hung up and Jace looked over to the security officers station. The officer, a human with a Vexical uniform, nodded giving a position reaction.

"Okay then now-" The ship shuddered again and they heard another loud noise. Jace frowned as the map gained a fourth airlock that was breached. "The airlock just outside those doors was opened. Nila-!"

He turned around just in time to grab a weapon out of the air. It was a plasma pistol, he had been practicing with it recently. Nila had tossed it to him when he began turning around. "There is a stash of low level weapons hidden in primary areas of the ship." Nila explained as she took position on the side of the door.

"Good," Jace turned to the rest of the bridge. "Whoever is not busy, hand out weapons to the rest of the bridge crew." He then turned to Nila, "let's go welcome our guests."

Nila nodded and tapped a button opening the door. She then moved out into the hall and Jace followed her just as the new ship wide code message went out. If he recalls these codes were specially made by General Isaiah for the crew of the Venture. Code 01-26 meant that there were enemies aboard the ship.

As he moved into the hall he looked one way and then the other. He saw that a few of the other bridge officers were on their way. But as he moved the other way he had to keep the plasma pistol at the ready.

"Are you going to be okay without your armor? I know you humans are incredibly vulnerable without it." Nila joked as they moved up to a corner where they would see the airlock door from.

"I am a bit more squishy but it does not help with my strength or anything else." Jace told her as he moved across the hall and hid at the corner. He leaned over to look down the hall and cursed under his breath.
