Chapter 968: Someone? A Ghost? A Wolf? [Third Update]

"Hm, over there... does it look like there's a house?!"

Qin Tian's gaze was fixed on the distance, his heart suddenly tightening.

In the distant forest, there seemed to be a wooden house!

Someone?

On this Broken Cliff, could there be someone?!

Looking into the distance, Qin Tian's heart tightened inexplicably once again.

This Broken Cliff is at a height of over ten meters on a sheer cliff; he had already exerted all his strength to climb up here. Could there really be someone else?

In the city, Qin Tian admitted he had never seen anyone who could match his movement technique when both the Wave Striding Technique and Flowing Cloud Skill were activated.

Of course, excluding his master Cao Taiji.

Naturally, Qin Tian wouldn't deny that in this vast and mysterious world, there are many capable and powerful people.

However, someone capable of reaching this Broken Cliff and even building a wooden house in the forest... Qin Tian thought about it and couldn't help but take a sharp breath. To achieve such a feat, this person must be one of those legendary skilled recluses, right?

Qin Tian glanced back, linking it to the forest of Purple Spiritual Trees behind him and the red-fruited grasses within.

Upon closer inspection, he discovered that, besides the red-fruited shrubs appearing to be planted in rows, the Purple Spiritual Trees seemed to be very neatly arranged as well!

"Damn, these things full of Spiritual Energy, could they really be human-planted?"

Stunned, Qin Tian hesitated for a moment before mustering the courage to slowly walk towards the wooden house deeper in the forest.

Considering that the person residing here could very likely be a highly skilled recluse with exceptional martial arts, Qin Tian did not dare to be careless, holding a gun in one hand and the Dragon Blood Dagger in the other.

"Spiritual Medicine Garden?"

When Qin Tian walked out of the forest made up of Purple Spiritual Trees, he hadn't walked far into the ordinary forest before seeing a wooden sign with the words "Spiritual Medicine Garden" erected among the trees.

"Uh, Spiritual Medicine?"

Looking at the words on the sign, Qin Tian glanced back for a moment and instantly understood that the Purple Spiritual Trees and the red fruits he encountered earlier were probably planted as Spiritual Medicine by someone!

It seems that someone really is on this Broken Cliff.

At this, Qin Tian took a deep breath, dismissed other thoughts, and quickened his pace towards the wooden house.

The wooden house was built with great precision, containing three rooms in total, with a fenced area outside. Beyond the fence, there were flowers of various colors in bloom, standing out strikingly in the forest.

Realizing that there truly was someone on this Broken Cliff, Qin Tian cautiously approached the wooden house.

He waited outside for a few minutes, closing his eyes slightly to sense any movements inside the wooden house.

Unfortunately, after five minutes, both inside and around the wooden house were silent, with Qin Tian not hearing a single sound.

Unable to hold back, Qin Tian ventured inside the wooden house.

Entering, Qin Tian still saw no sign of anyone. Of the three wooden rooms, two were bedrooms, and one was a living room.

The setups in the bedrooms were very simple, with merely a wooden bed, a table, and two stools, and basically nothing else.

On the other hand, the living room was more delicately furnished, featuring a square table surrounded by four stools. Atop the table sat a purple clay teapot and four earthy-colored small teacups.

Additionally, there was an ancient zither covered with gauze in the living room, apparently because the owner wanted to protect it.

"Is anyone there? Is anyone there?"

Seeing no one inside the wooden house, Qin Tian began to speak out loud, calling out.

After all, having arrived at this place, he should at least pay respects to the owner.

However, despite shouting inside and outside the house for several minutes, no one responded, leaving Qin Tian puzzled.

Where is everybody?

This Broken Cliff, not touching the heavens nor rooted in the earth—if there is someone, where could they have gone?

Curious and worried, without overthinking it, Qin Tian continued his search along the wooden house.

This Broken Cliff isn't particularly big nor particularly small; Qin Tian quickly scanned the forest and rocky terrain but saw no trace of anyone.

Instead, Qin Tian gained a rough understanding of the structure of the Broken Cliff.

The edge of the cliff was lined with a forest of Purple Spiritual Trees, followed by the grassy red-fruited area. Further in lay a regular forest covering at least seven to eight thousand mu.

In the forest, besides the wooden house, there were small mounds like bumps of earth.

At the forest's end, adjacent to a rocky wall, ran a swift-flowing stream.

Calling it a stream was slightly misleading, as it was actually a waterfall; the Broken Cliff served as a transitional zone for the waterfall. The snowmelt from above cascaded down the rocky wall, forming a magnificent waterfall.

Subsequently, the waterfall merged into a stream at the Broken Cliff, which continued flowing over the edge, forming another waterfall.

Beneath the Broken Cliff waterfall lay a great river, which wound around the cliff's base, its vast and rapid flow, with mist rising, intertwining with the mist from the surrounding waterfalls, creating a scene reminiscent of a fairyland.

The environment here was ideal, indeed suited for a secluded life. However, even after searching thoroughly, Qin Tian didn't find a single person, which was strange.

"Damn, there are clearly buildings here, but no one around. Could it be... the ghost that Elder Wang mentioned?"

Recalling Elder Wang's words to him, Qin Tian's heart clenched in fear.

Based on his observations earlier, there indeed was no one on this Broken Cliff.

Yet, with a small house present, could it truly be haunted? Perhaps these ghosts don't come out during the day but appear at night to prey on people?

Gulping nervously, Qin Tian remembered last night where he faintly heard the sound of wolf howling in his dreams...

"Oh no, could it be?"

As he speculated, Qin Tian walked toward the Purple Spiritual Tree forest.

It was precisely midday, the sun was out, but due to the presence of Spiritual Energy and mist in the forest, sunlight was insufficient, casting an eerie and terrifying atmosphere, making Qin Tian's heart anxiously tremble.

"Since I'm already here, I might as well relax. No point overthinking. No one is here anyway, so the abundance of Purple Spiritual Trees and red fruits, I won't be polite in accepting them, hehe."

Being an atheist, Qin Tian absolutely didn't believe in ghosts, so after reassuring himself with a few words, he sought another Purple Spiritual Tree, ready to continue his cultivation.

"Awooo!"

Just as Qin Tian sat down cross-legged, suddenly he heard a wolf howling in the distance!

The sound was eerily familiar, exactly matching the wolf howls from his dream last night!

Qin Tian tensed up, instantly leaping up from the ground, and drew his gun and Dragon Blood Dagger, carefully listening to where the wolf howls originated.

"Awooo!"

The wolf howls sounded again, and Qin Tian heard them clearly, realizing they were coming from this Broken Cliff!
