Spider-Man Mayhem

Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Fantastic Four (8)

[Third Person's PoV]

"I'll be next then," Peter said, amused by Harry's overexcitement.

"Hey, do you think I can beat you now in a duel?" Harry suddenly asked, causing everyone to stop and look at him.

"Excuse me?" Peter raised an eyebrow.

"It's just a thought!" Harry said, lifting his hands in surrender. "I'm just curious, alright? We haven't had a good sparring match in a while, and I wanted to see how well I'd do against you now. Would it still be the same, or have I improved a bit?"

"Looks like someone's getting cocky because of their new powers," Peter scoffed. "I guess I'll have to put you in your place," he teased.

Harry rolled his eyes. "It's not about overconfidence. I just want to see how much I've improved. I'd like to think I can last longer or at least put up more of a fight against you than when I first started."

Peter smirked slightly. "Alright, after we finish all the testing, we'll have a round."

"Sweet," Harry smirked.

Just then, the sound of pitter-patter caught their attention. They turned toward the noise and saw a small army of Spider-bots carrying a treadmill—the one used to test their enhanced speed.

"Aria, why did you bring this out?" Peter asked, raising an eyebrow, though he already had a good idea.

"Well, obviously, your speed has increased, but I want to see by how much and if you have a limit. I'm most fascinated by your powers," Aria said excitedly.

"Why?" Peter asked, curious.

"All I was able to gather from you was that you gained superspeed," Aria said, a bit oddly.

"What's wrong with that? I mean, we knew Peter already had a bit of superspeed before, didn't he?" MJ asked, confused.

"You're not getting it. All I could gather was that Father had superspeed, that's it. It seems strange because I would have thought he'd gain more than that. I want to see if there's something special about his superspeed," Aria explained.

"Ahhh, that's right. You have no Speed Force, which means you might just…" Harry trailed off.

"I might not, though. I could theoretically still have a way to protect myself," Peter said, hopeful.

Peter walked toward the treadmill and began to jog at a steady pace. He then started increasing his speed, moving faster and faster with each passing second. Just as he surpassed the speed of a car, he glanced at everyone. "I'd take a few steps back if I were you…"

They all complied, stepping back several paces.

"Ready, Aria?" Peter asked excitedly.

"Hit it!" Aria cried out.

Peter's eyes flashed a bright blue as the world around him slowed to a crawl.

Boom!

The sound barrier shattered as Peter ran, his figure becoming a blur. Blue electric arcs began flashing from his body as he increased his speed. Soon, he was surrounded by a blue aura of electricity stretching around his blurred figure.

"How fast is Peter going?" Gwen asked Aria.

"Currently 800 MPH... 900 MPH... 1,000, 1,200, wait somethings wrong—DADDY, STOP!" Aria suddenly shouted.

They all exclaimed loudly and worriedly as they saw fire igniting along Peter's skin. He tried to stop but was moving too fast and slammed heavily into the wall, creating a crater with a strong tremor. Blood erupted from Peter's mouth.

"PETER!" they all shouted in fear and worry.

Peter's clothes were on fire, and multiple parts of his skin showed third-degree burns with peeling. Spider web-like cracks pulsated and glowed a sharp blue color across his body as he writhed in pain.

Gwen acted quickly, discarding his tattered shirt and putting out the flames. Tears filled her eyes as she held Peter's face. "Peter, come on, talk to me!"

MJ knelt beside him, with Felicia meowing worriedly.

"Aria, what's wrong with him?" Harry asked seriously.

"Ughhh," Peter groaned. "Do you think my car insurance would be enough covers this?"

"Why isn't he healing?" MJ bit her lip. "He should've already started healing by now."

"This counts as speeding right?" Peter continued

"And what's with the blue cracks on his skin? That doesn't look good," Johnny added, worried.

"Alright, I'll explain as best I can," Aria said quickly. "Daddy's power isn't just superspeed—it's much more than that! He's an energy generator. The energy he creates when moving at super speed is stored in his body. It's like bio-electricity, and the faster he moves, the more he generates. But he was moving so fast that his body couldn't handle all that energy. His healing factor is the only thing keeping his body together, but it's already overworked. The blue pulsing veins you see are the energy inside him trying to escape."

"So the best thing to do is expel all that energy," Reed suggested.

"WHAT HAPPENED?!" a voice shouted, followed by thundering footsteps.

Ben and Bruce rushed in, gasping in horror at Peter's condition.

"I saw it…" Peter said suddenly, grinning despite his pain. "I saw the electromagnetic field while running. With enough training—"

"Please, Peter, focus on recovering," MJ pleaded. "I hate seeing you like this."

He grimaced at her expression, unable to deny her request.

Peter began to stand, groaning, as MJ and Gwen supported him. Reed and Susan filled Ben and Bruce in on what had happened.

"Okay, but before anything else—how cool do I look? Do the energy lines make me look badass? Be honest," Peter asked weakly.

Harry sighed in relief, noticing everyone glaring at Peter for joking at a time like this. "Pretty sick," he admitted with a faint smile.

"Hell yeah…" Peter retorted weakly. He stood in the middle of the room, ushering Gwen and MJ to step back.

They cautiously retreated, ready to rush in if he collapsed again. Ben stood protectively in front of everyone, while Susan summoned a forcefield around them.

Peter took a deep breath and began to unleash the contained energy.

"What a waste…" he said regretfully.

BOOM! CRACK! SZZTT!

Arcs of lightning erupted from Peter in a powerful shockwave, illuminating the room in blinding flashes. Everyone shielded their faces to protect their eyes from the intense light.

The lightning surged wildly, like uncontrollable tendrils, sparking from Peter's body and striking the walls, skittering across the floor, all seamlessly emerging from his skin. As the energy coursed through him, his body began to heal. The cracks in his skin slowly closed, knitting together. The third-degree burns shrank and disappeared as new skin regenerated.

Peter let out a satisfied sigh as residual arcs of lightning danced around his body, feeding his bio-electricity. He closed his eyes, focusing on his chi. 'My chi is definitely stronger,' he mused, 'The energy I produce while running seems to enhance its potency... it's like bio-electricity, but more refined.'

He ran his fingers together, feeling the energy between them. Sparks flew between his fingertips, bringing a slight smile to his face.

"How are you feeling?" Johnny asked as Susan lowered the protective shield, and they all approached Peter.

Peter grinned. "Do you guys know that feeling when you really have to pee, and when you finally do, it just flows out, and you give that little satisfying shudder?"

Johnny and Harry burst into laughter at Peter's analogy, while Gwen and MJ smiled, relieved to see he was alright.

Gwen gently lifted her sleeve and used it to tenderly wipe the blood from the corner of Peter's mouth, while MJ scanned his body, checking to ensure he was fully healed.
