SSS Cultivation: I Can Conquer Earth's Rank System

Chapter 31: Never Again

Hunter Man didn't complete his warning, but Leo has a clear understanding that it was a threat. Clearly, whatever Hunter and his little group was going to do with him was not approved by the school authorities. That, or maybe it was approved but the little group was going to overdo whatever it was they are doing with quirkless students.

Leo didn't know if he was really for this, because he definitely has a quirk even though it was a passive one. Since nobody has any reason to ask him about it, he had no reason to tell anyone. Everyone believed he has a blue laser quirk, and even Lam has seen him perform another type by using the bubble to trap the student bullying the poor boy. He had done all these with the device carefully hidden not nobody knew. Nobody but Hunter, and he has to pay for this by being part of this secret group of his.

"If Hunter believes I do not possess any quirk at all, then let him. At least he didn't ask me," Leo said to himself.

As soon as he stepped outside the office, he noticed that the illumination in corridor was brighter. He looked out the windows and only then did he realize that it is nighttime already.

"Loads of meteors, that exhausting meeting took too long," he lamented.

A little to his left, he heard a soft repeated sound that seemed like someone was dozing. He looked down and saw Rosalie sprawled by the door, sleeping so soundly like she was on a soft king-size bed. Without thinking, Leo busted out laughing, even then she didn't wake up.

"Even if I had yelled earlier, you wouldn't have saved me like you promised. So much for, 'I won't leave without Leo'," he laughed again.

He bent over to her level and scanned her sleeping face. If he didn't know how crazy she can be, he'd have said she has the most innocent face ever.

He still couldn't come with terms that she was a Morningbolt. Even Hunter had claimed she was. Leo scanned her again, trying to pick the littlest hint of resemblance with Jade but he still couldn't.

"How can two siblings be so different?" Leo wondered.

His soft side was taking over at the moment, but suddenly stopped when he realized that he was messing with another Morningbolt again. He has seen how brutal her brother can be when dealing with weaklings. And to his headache, he still has to share the VIP room with his brother again tonight since he didn't remember to inform Mr Al about changing his room.

Jade is a dangerous one but his sister wasn't on his level even if she was a tad dangerous as well. Leo being a weakling compared to both, he wouldn't like to find out what Jade would do to him if he found out that he was his sister's accomplice. From what he gathered, little things like this could enrage that red-haired nut job.

Leo looked at Rosa again and decided he has to do everything to stay away from her. At least, he hadn't known her for long and there was no true friendship between both of them. To save his skin, he must forget about her after tonight. Even is she persisted due to her tenacity, he'd have to find a way to put her off. It must be done.

"At least, you waited for me," Leo said.

He tapped her shoulder gently but it wasn't enough to wake her. She only switched her gear and went into another round of steady dozing.

"If she won't wake, just carry her out. I'm sick of seeing you two again. Get out now!"

Leo turned to see who was yelling at them and saw that it was Mr. Al who has changed his clothing and looked like he was ready to retire for the night. Leo thought it was an opportunity to talk to him about the room changing but Mr. Al seemed not be in a mood for late night talks. The old man tapped his shoes against the shiny floor, waiting for them to step out for the staff quarters.

"Don't look at me like that, boy. Carry her and disappear before my sight."

Leo relented and hoisted Rosalie's light body onto his back. He did it in a way that was supposed to wake her up by all right, but still she slept soundly. He didn't feel comfortable carrying her like that but there was no other option and Mr. Al's patience seems to be running out.

Leo's first step only reminded him how tired he also was. He didn't get a proper rest throughout the day and it was telling on him. As he staggered close to Mr. Al, he asked the man if he knew what Rosa's dorm number was. Without hesitation, he replied and said, "Rosalie Morningbolt, girl's VIP dorm...number 2."

Leo was amazed at how the man was able to remember it so well. It might have been because she was a Morningbolt and it was easy to remember, but Leo knew Mr. Al will remember any other person's as well. His quirk must have something to do with his brain, like storing information and reopening them when necessary.

"VIP room 2 it is," Leo encouraged himself.

The door of the staff quarters closed behind him as soon as he stepped out. The long corridors was now empty save for some service bots wheeling around, cleaning and arranging things all over. Their whirring sound irritated Leo as he went past them on weak knees. Rosa's weight was no longer light to him.

After minutes of staggered walks, he finally got to the girls dorm. At the gate was two men armoured with metals that made them have the appearance of war robots. These men are security guards and they are simply called Mecha-men. They swung their local beast weapons playfully in their hands as Leo approached.

"She's asleep. I have to get her to her room," Leo explained to the Mecha-men before he was even asked.

"In and out, five minutes. Not more, not less," one of the men said. His voice even sounded like it was programmed.

Leo who thought the Mecha-men would take over, started another journey to the elevator point.

At last, he got to the VIP floor and walked to the second room. Out of habit, he was about to knock when Rosa's voice stopped him.

"You still want to knock? What year were you born, really?"

The voice startled Leo a little. Rosa who appeared to be asleep jumped down from Leo's back with a wide yawn.

"You were awake all these while?" Leo asked, angry that he has been fooled.

"I was asleep until you talked to the Mecha-men. His annoying voice woke me."

"Okay goodnight," Leo said and turned to the exit.

"You still have a bruise on your neck," Rosa said. "Visit the healer on your way. Don't worry, I'll kill Hunter for you tomorrow."

She yawned the more as she made those weak promises. Leo laughed a little at her effort to cheer him. "Okay," he said and walked away. He knew there was no way he'd visit that healer again tonight. He couldn't risk getting bullied with words from a nurse again. "I'll rather carry this wound," he thought.

He heard her staggered walk and the beep of the door as she walked in. "I hope we never meet again," he said to himself. "I'm done with you, now I have to face your brother tonight, starry stars."
