Chapter 8: 100-man Elite Squad
[Domination·Unyielding Tyrant: I don't know who you are, but I advise you to step forward, apologize, and join Domination Guild. If you do, the other guilds won't trouble you on my account.]
[Fireworks·Blood Rose: Unyielding Tyrant, who do you think you are? This person must die. You have ten minutes to turn yourself in, or I'll personally lead a manhunt around Maple Leaf Forest. You won't escape!]
[Skyfall·Prince: You dare challenge the powers that be? I'll give you one chance—contact me now and hand over everything you've stolen as compensation. In return, I'll let you join Skyfall Guild. Otherwise, there will be no place for you in this game!]
"Damn, even the leaders of the three major guilds are getting involved. This guy must be something else."
"This is outrageous! Where's justice? Where's the law? We need to band together and hunt him down. There's no way he can hide forever!"
"What are you talking about? He has only been targeting guild players—what's wrong with that? I support him! He's my hero from now on!"
"Invisible Assassin, I love you! You're my idol!"
The three major guilds issued threats one after another, yet the person in question remained silent.
Instead, the general player base overwhelmingly supported him, referring to him as "Invisible Assassin" with growing admiration.
"Ridiculous."
Deep in the wilderness, Zane smirked coldly as he read the stream of notifications and chat messages.
The three guilds' threats didn't concern him in the slightest.
As for the so-called 'worship' from casual players? He only scoffed.
Zane was stealing kills for his own benefit, not because he wanted to fight injustice or stand up for weaker players. He didn't understand what these people were idolizing.
He simply avoided attacking solo players because the profit wasn't worth it.
If the reward was high enough, he wouldn't hesitate to strike—no matter who the target was.
Living on his own terms—that was his ultimate goal!
At the moment, Zane had just stolen another elite monster kill and slipped away undetected.
After a spree of 'picking up free loot,' he had reached Level 5.
His backpack was nearly overflowing—he had almost two full stacks of basic potions. Each stack contained 20 bottles, all stolen.
A single mana potion could restore 50 MP, which was crucial for Zane's upcoming 'hard training.'
Beyond that, he had gathered over twenty pieces of equipment and various monster loot.
Most of the gear was garbage, but there were a few Black Iron pieces.
While most players barely had one or two weak items, Zane had looted multiple Black Iron pieces. He even wielded a Bronze-tier weapon.
"No doubt about it—plundering is the fastest way to get rich. Capitalists never lie."
"It's getting risky. Time to stop."
Zane checked his spoils and felt satisfied—it was time to lay low.
Guild members were growing paranoid, moving in teams and increasing their numbers.
The larger the group, the higher the risk of someone randomly landing a hit on him and exposing his location.
For now, he picked out a few pieces of gear for himself:
[Sturdy Wood Belt] (Black Iron Tier)
+200 HP
Requires Level 5
[Beast Bone Shoulder Guards] (Black Iron Tier)
+60 Physical Defense, +30 Magic Defense
Requires Level 5
[Silk Trousers] (Black Iron Tier)
+80 Physical Defense, +40 Magic Defense
Requires Level 5
In Ascension Online, equipment was ranked as follows:
Common (White) < Black Iron < Bronze < Silver < Gold < Dark Gold < Diamond < Legendary < Epic < Mythical.
Gear slots included Helmet, Chest, Shoulders, Legs, Belt, Boots, Necklace, Rings, and Bracelets—though there might be more unique slots yet to be discovered.
With the Shadow Boots he got from the Shadow Panther Boss and the Reinforced Jacket he stole from Silver Spear, Zane had now fully geared up for defense.
After equipping everything, he allocated all his new stat points into Agility.

"Still not strong enough. Need to keep growing."
Closing his status screen, Zane activated Stealth and headed toward Maple Leaf Town.
He had a ton of useless loot to offload.
Plus, now that he was Level 5, he could visit the Thief Skill Hall for new abilities…
Meanwhile, beneath a towering mountain…
Lush forests stretched across the base, dense with wild vegetation. The occasional beastly roar echoed through the valley.
BOOM!
A massive thud shook the ground—a hulking beast collapsed in a pool of blood as players landed the final blow.
It was a Level 7 Black Iron-tier Boss.
"Loot everything. Bring me any warrior gear," a broad-shouldered, square-faced man ordered indifferently.
This was Unyielding Tyrant, guild leader of Domination Guild—already Level 7!
"Boss, word just came in—several of our teams got hit by the Invisible Assassin. Judging by his activity, his level shouldn't be too high. Want me to round up a squad and take him out?"
A player named Domination·Crusader asked from the side.
"I admit, I'm curious how he stays invisible after attacking. But for now, Lonely Wind Cliff is more important. Let him enjoy his little victories for now."
Unyielding Tyrant looked up at the distant peak.
It was the location mentioned in a quest—Lonely Wind Cliff.
Just then, a mysterious glimmer of light flashed from the mountainside.
He had seen it many times before.
No one knew what lay up there.
Not just Domination Guild—leaders of Fireworks Guild and Skyfall Guild were equally intrigued.
When they first attempted to climb the ridge, they discovered the monsters were far too strong. Even near the base, Level 7–8 monsters were everywhere.
In the end, the three guilds teamed up to blockade the mountain's entrance, choosing to level up nearby until they were strong enough to push forward.
"What's Skyfall and Fireworks doing?"
Unyielding Tyrant asked.
"They're grinding hard. But we're still ahead," Domination·Crusader replied.
Unyielding Tyrant's eyes gleamed with pride. "Good. Spread the word—I'm forming a 100-man elite squad!"
"Make sure they get fully geared. We're storming Lonely Wind Mountain!"
"Understood!"
Unyielding Tyrant gazed at the peak, eyes burning with ambition.
"Sorry, gentlemen—I'll be getting there first."
30 minutes later…
The Maple Leaf Town chat channel exploded:
"Breaking news! Breaking news! Listen up, everyone!"
"Domination Guild sent a 100-man elite team up Lonely Wind Mountain. They ran into a Bronze-tier Boss… and got absolutely wiped out!"
