They were even listening to the music and enjoying the sparse time of peace, even though there wasn't really much of it lately. For the past few days, since their arrival at the Ziras IV, they have been in a constant circle of hunting for Arachnids.

For Jenaiel, it was very rare for her to spend a lot of time resting, because she wasn't usually resting as she considered it a waste of time that could be better spent on training, but in the end she relented to Arcturus's pestering and in the end agreed to have a few days off.

In the end, they would be spending a lot of time on this planet, so a few days off.

Arcturus planned to return to the training in a few days, as he planned to laze around after the well done job with the bugs. He wasn't that much of a training maniac like his female companion next to him, who wasn't interested in training almost all the time.

Even though they were in a secluded and rather nice area, it wasn't like there were not any suitable beasts that they could hunt.

The entire planet was swarming with powerful beasts, and because the Imperium was implementing a policy through which these species were somewhat protected, they couldn't be really hunted freely, as many thought, they were prospering.

"Excellent. I will scour the area for the best hunting spot. If we are lucky we could find some powerful beast to hunt down."

When it came to fighting against powerful foes, Jenaiel always welcomed it eagerly. She was satisfied that they would be going to hunt, because at least during the time of rest, she would have some action.

During the time they spent together, Arcturus learned that Jenaiel was a hyperactive person who needed to be constantly doing something. Seeing her satisfied, Arcturus smiled a bit, because it was nice to see her so carefree of all things.

Compared to Arcturus and Zehal, Jenaiel was the one who was constantly in the one go and trained like there was no second day.

He understood that she needed a lot of resources, and even though she was born into the most prestigious Aristocratic Bloodline Noble House, the only thing she got from there was her surname.

Arcturus remarked when he saw that Jen-Jen started relaxing a bit as she was sipping from the hot chocolate that was prepared for them by the bots. She was already having her fifth cup, while he was having his third.

Within the Xeno Containment Unit of the Imperial Colonial Defense Forces, Zehal was carrying out the research. She was here several days already and she was acting as Assistant Researcher to the General Rathari Velot.

Even though Xenobiology wasn't her primary area of research, Zehal was still very curious about the Arachnids, and this was the prime possibility for her to work on some of the rarest kinds of bugs.

Being able to participate in the research of the Pseudo Bug Queen and Brain Bug was something that only a very limited number of people could achieve. Right now, they were building a memory extraction device that they would use on the Pseudo Bug Queen and the Brain Bug.

Even though the Agent Mercury extracted some memories from the Brain Bug, it wasn't every single memory from the Brain Bug. There were still a lot of memories from the Brain Bug that could be extracted, and then there was an entire treasure trove in the form of the memories of the Pseudo Bug Queen that was right now unconscious.

Most obviously, using Psioncis or Psyker for memory extraction was now out of the question, not only because of the lack of a suitable person but also because of the dangers that were tied to it.

So, the General Velot proposed building a specifically crafted device that would extract all memories of the Pseudo Queen Bug, which were the most precious ones, as they for sure contained the memories of various pieces of technology and other stuff that the Arachnids possessed.

Genetic Memories were a neat thing.

Even if they could access just a part of their inherent Genetic Memories about their technologies, then it would be wonderful. At the same time, Zehal, along with her Super-High Risk Psyker Ability Deus Technicus, was like a heaven-sent gift for this endeavor.

According to the General Velot's prediction if Zehal was the one in the control of the device, then the chances of the complete and successful memory extraction would be almost guaranteed because the power of the Super-High Risk Psyker Ability Deus Technicus was something that would boost up the capabilities of the memory extraction device by a whole few levels.

The process of building the device was progressing rather smoothly as the entire research department of the Imperial Colonial Defense Forces was in very high spirits about the possibility of extracting memories of the Pseudo Queen Bug.

Zehal knew there were many complications when it came to the extraction of memories from the Arachnids, as the bugs were not that stupid and they made plenty of countermeasures against someone delving into the mind of the other bugs.

Ironically, many of them depended solely on the connection of the bug to the rest of the Hive. Now, due to the presence of the Cosmic Storm Shroud, which was already null and void, they could use this window to try to extract as many memories as possible.

According to the General Velot's predictions, they should be capable of breaching through at least a few outer layers of their Genetic Memories and extract them safely. The Genetic Memories of the Arachnids were the most crucial aspect of their society and technology, because every single piece of knowledge among the Arachnids was centered around their Genetic Memories.

Thus, many factions and even individuals, that were attempting to break through the inherent defenses of Arachnids and obtain their Genetic Memories. Their Genetic Memories contained everything from the simplest thing, like how to move, to the most advanced pieces of the Biotechnology that the Arachnids have ever created.

If they succeeded, then it would be able to obtain an unprecedented amount of information about the Arachnid Biotechnology and advance the Xenobiology of the Imperium by several levels.

And this was even without actually doing anything to the bugs.

"How is the progress on the device, Zehal?"

General Rathari Velot, who was also the head of the Research Department, has just now returned to the research as he was also the head of the Imperial Colonial Defense Forces, so her had a lot of different responsibilities aside from overseeing the research on the Arachnids that they have captured.

Even though the research on the bugs was considered as the top priority, right now, for most of the time, until the experiments started, General Velot would be only overseeing the things and not do anything more significant.

"We are progressing rather smoothly, and the device should be completed within a few days, and we can start the machine. According to all of the simulations we did, it should work."

Zehal was one of the people that was in charge of the project, though it was only formality as she was helping with the construction due to the Super-High Risk Psyker Ability Deus Technicus

"Well that's certainly a good thing. And what about the bugs? Are they in a good condition?"

General Velot asked about the state of their most precious and honored guests in the Xeno Containment Unit of the Imperial Colonial Defense Forces and hoped that they were all right and healthy.

Right now, the Pseudo Queen Bug was the most prized and protected thing in the entire colony, and during the past few days since its arrival at the Xeno Containment Unit, they had already started the healing process of the Arachnid.

For the obvious reasons, they let the bug within the protective carapace, though they would be soon enough pulling it out as it would be healed and they had an entire team of púeople that were making sure that the Pseudo Queen Bug would recover form the injured that it had sustained as they were pretty severe.

Fortunately enough, due to the fact that it immediately went into the hibernation and healing mode and started regenerating from the injuries. This was already good news, and now seeing that the bug was slowly recovering.

"Yeah... the Brain Bug is almost healing and it's alright. The Pseudo Bug Queen's internal organs have been recovered, and the flow of the Psionic Energy has been reformed, so she will probably wake in a few days. Afterwards, we can get her out from the carapace and place her into the standard containment cell."

Zehal said because the she was the one who was overseeing the recuperation process of the captured Arachnids as they were too precious for them to loose.

Though the oversight was probably too strong a word for what she was actually doing, because in fact, she was just checking on the state of the Brain Bug and the Pseudo Bug Queen from time to time.

When she saw that everything was alright, she just compiled the reports from the Xenobiologists that were taking care of the bugs and then she sent the reports to the General Velot as he was the head of the Research Department of the Imperial Colonial Defense Forces of the Ziras IV.

"Excellent... we need to perform the memory extraction on the Pseudo Bug Queen as soon as possible. The Imperial High Command is sending here the entire Fleet of the Mejday Force and the whole detachment from the Directorate to the Ziras IV."

Zehal, who listened to this, was mildly surprised hearing that the Imperial Military High Command was sending such a large number of troops to Ziras IV, but on the other hand, she suspected the apparent reason why they were doing such a thing.

"They are going to search for the reason behind the presence of the Arachnids, right?"

Arcturus and Zehal understood that despite that fact that the Ziras IV held somehow strategic value to the Eternal Empire of the Asurya, for the Arachnids it was one of the worst worlds in which they could start their colony and reproduce themselves.

"Yes... despite all things considering, the fact that Ziras IV is belonging to the category of extremely hostile planets for the Arachnids for their further development. They rarely, very rarely ventured into the worlds like this, much less with the presence of the Pseudo Queen... this wasn't done on whim, this was a deliberate plan from their side and they were doing this for a reason."

General Rathari Velot as he knew that this was no mere coincidence.

Many would say, even trained experts, that the bugs chose this planet deliberately so they were far from the scrutiny and they could safely infiltrate the Imperium from this colony, but nobody in the higher leadership of the Directorate believed this.

Even an idiot could tell that the bugs wanted something that was on this place, if not, they would have chosen a much better planet for their infestation efforts. Whatever they were doing this, it should have appeared like an infestation effort of the

"Then we need to ensure that the device works as it should and that there are no mistakes during the process."

Zehal muttered as General Velot nodded his head, hearing this, because the situation was becoming grave. However, at the same time, it was also an opportunity because if the Arachnids deemed whatever was on the Ziras IV so precious that they would risk everything to obtain it...

Then it must be something really, really precious and the Empire should obtain it at any cost.

"When the device is finished, we will test it on some criminals and lesser bugs to be sure it works perfectly without damaging the subject. Meanwhile, you would have some vacation, something around ten days."

General Velot said to the Heiress Apparent of the House Alvix, as he himself was rather surprised how efficient and brilliant the girl was in the area of the scientific research, even though she was born into the Mercantile Clan of the Empire.

Zehal nodded as she already awaited something like this, because it was only logical that they wouldn't do the memory extraction with the device on the Pseudo Bug Queen as their first subject.

If something went wrong, it could kill the Arachnid.

And that would be a most severe loss for the Imperium as a whole.

The machine would need to undergo extensive testing and trials before they would be using it on the Pseudo Bug Queen as they were using the highest security protocols in this case.

During the time she would have vacation, Zehal would go to the villa that Arcturus rented from the government of the Ziras IV, or rather the villa that the Office of the Governor-General of Colonial Government provided to him.
