Chapter 3420: Dreams Come True

Ba Liu did not know which family or faction of the Spirit Nidus Lu Yin might be from, or if the young man might even be a direct member of the Ascendant Hall. All that Ba Liu could do was await Lu Yin's decision.

Lu Yin was also waiting. To him, Ba Liu’s words were nonsense. The man was from the Primal Beastland, while his woman was from Heavenspire. What did either of those things have to do with anything that was happening?

However, it quickly became apparent that Ba Liu was done speaking,

Lu Yin quickly guessed something. Was it possible that the Primal Beastland and Heavenspire were mortal enemies and that their people were forbidden to get together? Everyone from Heavenspire was actually from the Lesser Spirit Megaverse. If Lu Yin were the High Seraph, he would not allow anyone from Heavenspire to marry outsiders, as any children born from such unions might expose the fact that their parents were from different megaverses.

That had to be the reason.

Still, a guess was not enough.

"Continue," Lu Yin ordered. "Were you two being hunted down because you’re from two different places?"

Ba Liu’s head snapped up, and he stared at Lu Yin in shock. "You aren’t from the Spirit Nidus?"

Lu Yin casually replied, "No."

Ba Liu was stunned. How was that possible? Was this man not from the Spirit Nidus? No one from the Spirit Nidus could possibly be unaware of the restrictions that surrounded the people from these two different factions.

Where had this man come from?

Ba Liu slowly turned his head to look at the springboard. An unknown civilization?

When the springboard had first been discovered, the Spirit Nidus had initially entered a period of excitement, believing that the discovery would help bridge the distance between their megaverse and both the Consciousness and the Tianyuan megaverses. However, before long, that excitement was followed by worry, hesitation, and countless speculations. As time passed, those speculations had become a heavier burden, until eventually, the springboard had become a metaphorical sword that hung over their necks. The Spirit Nidus was too afraid to use it out of fear of drawing some unknown civilization’s attention.

Humans always feared the unknown the most, and the Spirit Nidus was no exception to that.

This was why there was the sequence base and the eight sequence powerhouses protecting the springboard, as well as why Beacon City had been built.

Beacon City existed so that the Spirit Nidus would be immediately notified should any unknown civilization appear.

However, this did not mean that everyone in the Spirit Nidus had such thoughts and fears. There were people who had never even considered the possibility of an unknown civilization lurking behind the springboard, seeing it as nothing more than an astral phenomenon.

Ba Liu had never given any thought to unknown civilizations. This was not because he did not believe they existed, but rather because his life had never reached the point where such possibilities had been worth considering. He was not someone who was qualified to entertain such fears.

Who would have thought that an unknown civilization would first appear before him?

All of Beacon City, including its lord, Yi Xia, had fallen. Ba Liu alone retained his consciousness. He was the first person from the Spirit Nidus to face this unknown civilization.

He was making history for the Spirit Nidus.

Lu Yin smiled at Ba Liu. "Tell me, what’s wrong with these two backgrounds?"

Ba Liu nervously swallowed, and then he instinctively glanced at Yi Yao. He did not know if this encounter was a blessing or a curse. But at the very least, he and Yi Yao would not be killed due to where they came from.

Finally, he shared the restrictions that he and Yi Yao were violating.

Lu Yin was not the only one listening. Across Beacon City, the Origin Progenitor, Chu Yi, and everyone else who was scattered about was also listening. However, Ba Liu was unaware of their presence.

Lu Yin sat and said nothing as his finger tapped on the void, sending ripples through space.

Restrictions?

Cultivators who took on the forms of beasts after their Spirit Rebirth, cultivators who took on a human form with their Spirit Rebirth, the Primal Beastland, Heavenspire, sequence bases.

Ever since Boundless had left the Tianyuan Megaverse, Lu Yin had been considering what strategy he should employ when entering the Spirit Nidus. Should he declare an all-out war? Joining forces with the Consciousness Megaverse would be good, but not open war. However, it was impossible to hide Boundless and all of the outsiders aboard the battleship from the Spirit Nidus. Disguising themselves was similarly impossible, even if only the Seraphs could find them.

Lu Yin had devised a few rough plans, but learning of Ba Liu's predicament had opened a new line of thought.

It might be time for the Spirit Nidus to experience a revolution.

The High Seraph ruled over the entire megaverse, with the Seven Seraphs under his command. There were countless experts in the Ascendant Hall, as well as mad dogs who were eager to fight to become a Seraph themselves. It would be incredibly difficult to go against so many powerful experts with only the people that Lu Yin had aboard Boundless. Even if the most powerful of them were able to fight against the Spirit Nidus’s experts, how long would they be able to endure for?

Lu Yin had not gone to the Spirit Nidus to die, but rather to destroy and cripple the Spirit Nidus so that it would not be able to act against the Tianyuan Megaverse. At the same time, Lu Yin sought to resolve his incomplete karma.

What could be a better way of destroying a civilization than undermining it by breaking sacred rules?

This thought caused Lu Yin's attention to return to Ba Liu. A smile touched Lu Yin’s lips. "Congratulations, your dream has come true."

Ba Liu felt like he had to actually be dreaming.

The moment that Lu Yin said “your dream has come true,” the members of Second Life all looked at Ba Liu with much friendlier expressions. After that, more powerful experts appeared nearby. Their auras were so sharp that even a glance left the Spirit Warrior feeling overwhelmed. None of these experts were any weaker than Yi Xia, though Ba Liu was incapable of sensing an exact difference in strength.

Then, more and more people appeared. Their auras were not particularly strong, but there were a great number of them. They were in the process of gathering everyone in Beacon City.

Ba Liu was certain that he could defeat most of these people in a one-on-one fight, but their sheer numbers made him feel powerless.

There were more than a hundred.

More than a hundred Spirit Ancestors? That might not be considered a massive number in the Spirit Nidus, but that was only when considering the entire megaverse. Throughout the many years that Ba Liu had spent in the Consciousness Megaverse, the largest squad he had ever fought with had only had about ten Spirit Ancestors. That had been quite an impressive number.

Most of the squads he had fought with only had two or three Spirit Ancestors.

More than a hundred Spirit Ancestors could easily be split between about twenty small teams.

What kind of civilization did these people come from?

Ba Liu felt a warm touch, and he turned his head to see Yi Yao’s confused eyes. He shook his head, indicating for her not to speak.

The two stood beside Lu Yin.

Yi Yao was staring at Lu Yin, but Ba Liu quickly pulled at her sleeve.

He did not dare to be careless in front of Lu Yin, especially since Ba Liu was not sure what Lu Yin intended.

It was at this moment that Yi Xia finally stirred. He was the strongest cultivator in Beacon City, and he was also a sequence powerhouse. He was not at all weak, and he was even comparable to the Heavens Sect’s Outer Eight Paths. He had been knocked out by the Origin Progenitor.

Yi Xia awoke to a sharp pain stabbing through his head. He looked around and saw that everyone else had also fallen unconscious. His expression changed drastically, and he spun around to see Lu Yin staring at him. Ba Liu and Yi Yao stood at Lu Yin’s side, and the three people were surrounded by a great number of powerful experts.

Yi Xia did not act impulsively. He did not dare to take such a risk. A glance was enough for him to see that there were a number of cultivators present who were far stronger than him.

He slowly rose to his feet, his eyes glued to Lu Yin. “May I ask who you are?”

Lu Yin assessed the city lord with a hint of a smile. “The sixteenth-ranked sequence technique, Devour.

“For you to be the master of this city, you must have a Seraph supporting you. Who is it?”

Ba Liu was startled. The Seraphs stood at the top of the Spirit Nidus. The fact that an unknown civilization was familiar with the Spirit Nidus was surprising.

Yi Xia frowned. “Who are you? Do you not know of me?”

Just like Ba Liu, Yi Xia assumed that Lu Yin was someone from the Spirit Nidus. However, Yi Xia was far more experienced than Ba Liu, so he quickly came up with several possibilities.

“My grandfather is Yi Shang.”

Lu Yin arched a brow. Yi Shang, of course. Yi Xia was the grandson of the round-faced Seraph who was the president of the Spirit Nidus’s Chamber of Commerce. It was no wonder how this man had managed to become the city lord of Beacon City.

Right, the Devour Sequence Technique. Lu Yin’s eyes flickered. No wonder Yi Shang had been willing to pay such a steep price to have the Heaven-Devouring Umbrella returned. It had not been for the sake of the Spirit Nidus, but rather for his own grandson.

As one of the ten sequence bases, the Heaven-Devouring Umbrella was critically important to the Spirit Nidus, but it was in no way as important as the war against the Tianyuan Megaverse.

To regain just the Heaven-Devouring Umbrella alone, Yi Shang had been willing to abandon an advantage in the war as a whole. At that time, Lu Yin had sensed that something was off in the negotiations, but due to his limited knowledge of the Spirit Nidus, he had not been able to reach any conclusions.

In hindsight, it was now clear that the Heaven-Devouring Umbrella had been intended for Yi Shang’s grandson.

That grandson was the city lord of Beacon City, and he was a powerful cultivator in his own right. With the Heaven-Devouring Umbrella, he might be able to take a shortcut, much like Bao Qi, and become a Seraph. Of course, this needed time and further manipulation. The High Seraph would not allow both Yi Shang and his grandson to be Seraphs at the same time, but that did not mean that the old man would stop preparing for the future.

“Just who are you?” Yi Xia asked again, his expression turning cold. “If word of this matter reaches the High Seraph, your backers may not be able to protect you. Not only that, but those two standing beside you have broken multiple restrictions. The High Seraph will not allow them to live either.”

However, when Yi Xia met Ba Liu’s eyes, there was no fear there. Instead, Yi Xia saw mockery and something that he could not understand at all. What did it mean? What was behind that expression?

“What if I insist on protecting these two?” Lu Yin asked.

Yi Xia instinctively replied, “That would be declaring yourself the High Seraph’s enemy, as well as an enemy of the entire Spirit Nidus. You had best consider this matter carefully. There are edicts that cannot be violated.

“Where do you come from? Tell me—there might be some connection with my Yi family, and we can keep this matter from Lord High Seraph.”

There was a loud thud as a figure fell from the sky. Yi Xia's expression changed as he looked over, as he could see that the person who had fallen was one of the sequence powerhouses who protected the springboard. Seeing the cultivator fall startled Yi Xia, and his gaze returned to Lu Yin. "Sir, this person protects the springboard! He cannot be disturbed! This is also forbidden."

Thud, thud, thud

One by one, eight people fell from the sky. They were the eight sequence powerhouses who had cultivated the Severing sequence technique in order to stand guard over the springboard. After those eight figures fell, to Yi Xia's absolute horror, a transparent cube appeared. Lu Tianyi held it in his hands as he walked over to stand beside Lu Yin.

Lu Yin accepted the clear cube. "So is this the Severance sequence base?"

Yi Xia felt like he was losing his mind. What was this person doing? Was he trying to die? He had stated that he was protecting Ba Liu and Yi Yao, attacked Beacon City, and even stolen a sequence base... Was he rebelling against the Spirit Nidus? Was the man completely insane?

Wait, no. That's not right. No one in the Spirit Nidus would dare to commit these crimes, not even Lord High Seraph.

Yi Xia stared at Lu Yin. "You're not from the Spirit Nidus…"

Ba Liu let out a breath as Yi Xia finally realized the situation.

It was not that Yi Xia had been slow, but rather that Lu Yin had not shown any obvious signs.

Lu Yin examined the Severance sequence base. He now had another sequence base in his hands, but this one protected the springboard. It was true that the Spirit Nidus was worried about the possibility of the springboard luring in some unknown civilization, but was Lu Yin not also concerned about the same thing?

If the day ever came when the three megaverses achieved a level of balance where none could overpower the others, then the springboard would have to be protected by all of them. If not, and an unknown civilization was drawn to it, no one would have any idea what to expect.

The Spirit Nidus had a broader perspective, and Lu Yin shared it.

"You are from an unknown civilization. You've been monitoring the springboard. Are you even human?" Yi Xia was horrified.

Lu Yin frowned. "Too noisy."

Lu Tianyi pointed a finger, and released the Dao of One Heavens. Sequence particles of the Law of Devouring appeared before Yi Xia, only for his shield to instantly be pierced by the Law of Undoing sequence particles. The finger attack pierced the man’s shoulder, spilling his blood onto the ground.

Yi Xia grabbed his shoulder as he slowly dropped to the ground. His eyes darted about. Was he unable to block even a single attack?

There was no doubt that these people were from an unknown civilization. Yi Xia had never seen this law of the universe before. It was not anything that the Spirit Nidus had ever encountered before.

An unknown civilization had arrived. The Spirit Nidus’s long-standing fear had come to fruition. The springboard had indeed been under some unknown civilization’s monitoring.
