Uchiha Kagami gazed at his elder brother, the one who had effortlessly annihilated all their comrades in the midst of casual conversation. He found himself utterly devoid of the courage to even draw his kunai.
After enduring that terrifying genjutsu, his will to fight had been completely extinguished. Techniques like shurikenjutsu, katonjutsu, and even his most prideful genjutsu were rendered insignificant in the presence of such overwhelming power.
What if he truly unleashed the strength displayed within that genjutsu? Acting rashly could very well lead to the gruesome deaths of his comrades!
"Do you think that by not taking action, your comrades won't die?"
Kagami's heart plummeted, and he looked up in terror. Kamihane was observing him with an air of calm composure, his faintly smiling eyes seemingly capable of piercing through all of Kagami's thoughts with ease.
The skeletal frame reappeared, a dark, shadowy bone arm rising high, slowly drifting above Hiruzen and the others like a colossal serpent prowling an ancient forest, greedily searching for its prey.
"Dear brother, who among them are you closest to?" Kamihane inquired lightly, his gentle tone resembling that of a caring elder brother inquiring about his sibling's social life.
But to Kagami's ears, it was nothing short of a demon's whisper!
"What... what are you planning to do?" He dared not answer.
"What am I planning to do? Why, to punish you, of course. If it weren't for your betrayal, I wouldn't have incurred such deep enmity with Konoha."
Kamihane smiled at his younger brother, his words cutting yet his smile pure and untainted, radiating with the warmth of sunlight.
"You won't speak? How cunning. Then I have no choice but… to guess for myself." Kamihane rubbed his chin, the enormous bone hand hovering in mid-air.
The bone hand slowly swept across the crowd, from Danzō and Hiruzen to Akimichi Torifu, then to the nearby Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu…
Everyone stared at it with wide, trembling eyes, cold sweat pouring down their faces, the shadow of death looming over each of them.
"Is it him?" The casual yet heavy voice struck like a hammer to the heart!
"Boom!!" The bone fist slammed down mercilessly.
A heart-wrenching scream mixed with the spine-chilling sound of bones shattering. Akimichi Torifu's body was deeply embedded in the fist-shaped crater, his fate unknown, as steaming blood quickly dyed the water surface red.
"Ahhhhh!" Kagami desperately charged forward, the dual torment of illusion and reality was on the verge of driving him insane.
"Stop." Kamihane slightly turned his head, glancing at him.
Kagami's fingertips barely touched the skeleton before they abruptly halted. When his gaze met those magnificent Mangekyō Sharingan eyes, his body seemed to lose all command, and every movement suddenly ceased.
"It's Genjutsu!"
His heart skipped a beat, and a flash of indescribable fear and confusion passed through his eyes!
"Don't rush, our game isn't over yet," Kamihane said with a smile. "It seems I guessed wrong, so... the game continues."
Danzo stared in terror at the approaching skeletal hand, his breathing becoming increasingly rapid. He had an intuition—this time, it was coming for him!
The skeletal hand hovered above him, and even the residual bloodstains on it could be clearly seen. Danzō's face was deathly pale, his heart pounding violently.
"I'm going to die!"
"I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die!"
"No! I can't die like this!"
"I haven't become Hokage yet, I haven't made a name for myself!"
"Move, damn it!"
He wanted to escape, but he couldn't muster even the slightest bit of strength. Among these people, his injuries were the least severe; he had only been kicked by Kamihane just now.
But that kick had precisely struck a certain point—a key acupoint for his chakra circulation. The kick, neither too light nor too heavy, caused the ninjutsu he had been preparing to detonate within his body. Countless tiny wind blades rebelled against him, wreaking havoc internally, severely damaging his meridians, rendering him immobile.
The skeletal hand descended upon him, and under the moonlight, the shadow it cast grew larger and larger, causing goosebumps to rise all over his skin.
"Think of something, quick!"
He clenched his teeth tightly, steeled his heart, and suddenly shouted:
"Kamihane-sama! I usually despise Uchiha Kagami the most!"
Everyone was stunned, even Hiruzen, who was standing nearby, looked at him in a daze.
"That's right, the person I hate the most is Uchiha Kagami. What is he? Just a braggart, nothing more. In the end, I'm the one who has the worst relationship with him on a daily basis..." Danzo ignored the gazes from his companions and continued speaking on his own.
"Tch." Kamihane curled his lips and casually swung the skeletal hand of the Susanoo, sending Danzo flying far away, tumbling and rolling like a bothersome insect being swept aside.
"You don't even have the right to die by my hand."
Kamihane's indifferent voice drifted from afar.
At that moment, a black shadow flashed, and the skeletal hand appeared beside Hiruzen. Two fingers pinched his head, lifting him like a chick, and brought him before Kamihane.
"You're not bad." Kamihane smirked sinisterly, drawing the long sword from his back.
In Kagami's horrified gaze, puchi—the blade pierced through Hiruzen's heart!
As the sword twisted, hot blood gushed forth like a fountain.
Hiruzen's eyes bulged, his body convulsed, and the intense pain forced his mouth wide open, but not a single sound escaped.
He kicked his legs and then fell silent.
Uchiha Kagami's pupils constricted to the size of pinpoints, that moment frozen before his eyes, a bone-chilling coldness racing up his spine to the crown of his head.
"Is this... the true ninja world...?"
From birth to the end of the Warring States period, he had been well-protected by Kamihane.
From joining Konoha to the present, he had been well-protected by his mentors.
In the end, this was the second time, apart from the incident with his parents, that he had personally experienced death.
His heart stopped beating in that instant, his bloodshot eyes flashing with immense terror. His face turned ashen, his lips trembling unconsciously, but no sound escaped his mouth.
This pitiful sight caused Kamihane to furrow his brows.
"Strange, is it not him either?"
Kamihane glanced at his younger brother, who was already petrified with fear, and the disappointment in his eyes could no longer be concealed.
From the very beginning, his sole purpose in this relentless massacre was to stimulate Uchiha Kagami to awaken his eyes.
The Uchiha, the most emotionally intricate clan, no family harbors love more profound than that of the Uchiha.
Once an Uchiha who has understood love loses that intense affection, the love is replaced by an even more intense hatred, giving rise to extreme anguish. At this moment, their Yin Release Chakra undergoes a qualitative transformation, acting on the optic nerves, and their eyes consequently change.
This is the eye that reflects the soul, the Sharingan.
Building upon this foundation, even more extreme and intense emotional stimuli can evolve the Sharingan to its ultimate state, the Mangekyō Sharingan!
According to Kamihane's knowledge, when the Sharingan evolves to the three-tomoe stage, life-and-death stimuli become the key factor in triggering its further evolution. For instance, witnessing the death of an important person, as he himself experienced when his eyes awakened.
In his mind, his younger brother was a complete traitor. Such a person's true loyalties definitely didn't lie within the family.
Yet, after all this time, even watching Sarutobi Hiruzen die before his eyes, this guy still showed no signs of his eyes awakening.
"Could it be that the bonds formed are still insufficient?"
Kamihane glanced at Hiruzen's corpse, pondering briefly. His magnificent right eye rotated subtly, and an unknown force acted upon Hiruzen. In a perspective invisible to all, Hiruzen's damaged heart miraculously healed, yet the heart meridian remained injured, and external wounds persisted, cleverly maintaining a state of half-death.
Based on the current situation, it is judged that Sarutobi Hiruzen is more useful alive than dead.
His affability is somewhat acceptable; otherwise, he would not have been able to serve as the Hokage steadily for so many years in the original timeline.
Therefore, Kamihane has decided to spare his life for the time being, allowing him to establish a deep bond with Kagami before killing him once again in front of Kagami.
As for that Akimichi Torifu... it doesn't matter. Kamihane doesn't care at all whether he lives or dies.
"It is time... to attend to the proper business."
He gripped his blade, step by step approaching Senju Hashirama, raised his hand and brought the sword down without the slightest hesitation.
"Ding!"
A figure appeared soundlessly, intercepting the blade, the sparks that flew illuminated a cold and stern countenance, as well as a pair of murderous eyes.
Silver hair, red pupils, a towering figure clad in a black tight combat suit, externally adorned with blue layered armor, with special white feathered fur collars at the shoulders, his movements decisive, his killing intent palpable!
Senju Tobirama!
He still wore the iron forehead protector in the style of a face guard, but the emblem on his forehead had been replaced from the clan crest of the Senju to the symbol of Konoha.
"I've been waiting for you for a long time, Lord Tobirama."
Kamihane not only showed no trace of panic but even looked at him with a hint of excitement, as if he had anticipated this all along.
Tobirama dared not meet his gaze directly into those eerie pupils, and thus failed to notice the thick layer of mockery in Kamihane's eyes.
