Chapter 10: Chapter 10 A New Day, A New Pain
If there was one good thing about mornings, it was that they came with a new login reward.
If there was one bad thing about mornings, it was that Minato-sensei was a morning person.
Unfortunately, I had to deal with both.
[Daily Login Reward: Noise-Canceling Earbuds]
I blinked.
Huh. That was… surprisingly useful.
I pulled the sleek-looking earbuds from my inventory and inspected them.
I shoved them into my ears and—
Silence.
No Obito yelling.
No birds chirping.
No distant sounds of the village waking up.
It was peaceful.
I could get used to this.
"KAKASHI!"
I blinked.
I saw Obito waving frantically in my face, mouth moving.
Oh. Right. The earbuds worked too well.
I pulled one out.
"—IGNORING ME AGAIN?! I SWEAR, YOU'RE—"
I put it back in.
Silence again.
Yep. Best reward so far.
We met up with Minato-sensei at the training grounds. He looked way too excited for a morning training session.
"Alright, team! Today, we're focusing on speed, stamina, and reaction time!"
Obito groaned. "Sensei, it's too early for this."
Minato smiled. "That's the best time for training!"
I sighed. "For you, maybe."
Minato clapped his hands. "Okay! First drill—catch me!"
Obito blinked. "Huh?"
Then Minato vanished.
I barely had a second to react before—
THUNK.
Obito was face-first in the dirt.
Rin gasped. "Obito!"
Obito lifted his head, twitching. "WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!"
Minato reappeared, looking completely unfazed. "Tag. You're it."
Obito looked betrayed.
The next hour was a nightmare.
Every time we got close to touching Minato, he'd just—disappear.
Obito lunged.
Minato sidestepped.
Obito crashed into a tree.
Rin tried a kunai throw.
Minato caught them without looking.
I tried predicting his next move.
He somehow predicted my prediction and tripped me up before I could even blink.
"Sensei," I panted, "this training is unfair."
Minato grinned. "That's the point!"
Obito, lying in the dirt for the tenth time, groaned. "I hate everything."
I sighed, rubbing my sore limbs.
Still… deep down, I was relieved.
At least this was training.
Not war.
Not real danger.
Just a normal day of getting my pride shattered by my teacher.
I could live with that.
After an exhausting training session, Minato finally let us rest.
Obito lay flat on his back, dramatically wheezing. "I'm dead. Tell the Hokage I want a hero's funeral."
Rin giggled. "You're fine, Obito."
I leaned against a tree, silently wondering if my body would ever recover.
Minato smiled. "Great work today! We'll go even harder tomorrow!"
Obito twitched. "I take it back. I don't want a funeral—I want revenge."
Minato just laughed.
I sighed.
At least I had my noise-canceling earbuds.
Maybe today wasn't a total loss.

I woke up at dawn, as usual, staring at the ceiling while my brain booted up. Then, like clockwork, the glowing system screen appeared before my eyes.
[Daily Login Reward: Compression Training Weights]
I squinted. "Huh?"
I sat up and looked down as a sleek set of black training weights materialized in my hands. They didn't seem too different from normal ones, but the description on the system screen caught my attention.
Compression Training Weights: Increase gravity resistance without limiting movement. Can be adjusted to extreme levels. A favorite among martial artists in certain worlds.
I had one thought.
Oh no. These are anime protagonist weights.
Before I could fully process the implications of that, a knock on my door interrupted me.
"Kakashi! Wake up, we have training!" Rin's voice called.
I sighed. No war, just training. This is fine. This is great. I love training.
Compared to going out into the battlefield and maybe dying in a ditch somewhere, getting yelled at by Minato-sensei while I got stronger? Perfect. No complaints here. Absolutely none.
I tossed the weights into my gear pouch for later and got dressed.
Minato-sensei stood in the center of the clearing, smiling like he wasn't about to destroy our souls with a brutal training session.
"Alright, team," he began cheerfully. "Today we'll be working on your teamwork and stamina! Obito, Rin, Kakashi—you'll be sparring together."
Obito cracked his knuckles. "Finally, a chance to prove I'm stronger than Kakashi!"
I stared at him. "You? Stronger than me?"
He smirked. "Yeah, that's right! Today, I—"
Before he could finish, I flicked a pebble at his forehead.
"Ow!" He rubbed the spot. "What the heck?!"
"Just making sure you were awake," I said dryly.
Obito fumed. "That's it! I'm taking you down!"
Rin, ever the peacekeeper, clapped her hands together. "Let's just do our best, okay? This is training, not a real fight."
Minato-sensei chuckled. "Well said, Rin. Now—begin!"
Obito charged at me immediately, fist raised. I sighed.
Does this guy ever learn?
I sidestepped effortlessly, letting him sail past me. He stumbled, but recovered, spinning around with a kunai in hand.
"You're not dodging this one!" he declared.
He swung. I ducked. He swung again. I leaned back.
"Kakashi, stop dodging and fight me!" Obito yelled.
"Then stop attacking like an idiot," I replied, catching his wrist and flipping him onto his back.
Rin winced. "Obito, are you okay?"
Obito groaned. "I hate him so much."
"Focus, Obito," Minato-sensei called. "You're using too much brute force. Try thinking ahead."
Obito grumbled but got back up.
Rin took her stance next. "My turn!"
I prepared myself. Unlike Obito, Rin was precise. She wasn't as strong, but she made up for it with smart attacks. She threw two kunai, but they weren't aimed at me—they were aimed at my possible escape routes.
Much better.
I deflected one kunai, but the other grazed my sleeve. Before I could counter, she was already moving in with a low kick. I jumped back just in time.
"Nice," I muttered.
She smiled. "You too!"
Obito, however, was still fuming. "Stop flirting and fight me, Kakashi!"
I deadpanned. "We are literally thirteen."
Minato-sensei chuckled. "Alright, that's enough for now."
Obito crossed his arms. "Tch. I almost had you."
"You almost had the ground, maybe," I muttered.
Obito gasped. "Sensei, he's being mean!"
Minato smiled. "Kakashi, be nice."
I sighed. Fine. I'll let Obito have his dignity… for now.
—
The next morning, I woke up sore but alive. My limbs protested as I sat up, reminding me that training with gravity-altering weights might have been a mistake.
And then, like clockwork—
[Daily Login Reward: Instant Muscle Recovery Cream]
I blinked.
Huh.
A small jar appeared in my hands, the label boasting "Guaranteed to relieve soreness instantly! Used by top athletes across dimensions!"
I twisted off the cap and sniffed it. Minty.
Well. No harm in trying. I scooped some onto my arms and legs and—
Oh.
OH.
The relief was immediate. It was like dipping into a hot spring and getting a massage from a medical-nin at the same time. My muscles practically sighed in gratitude.
For a moment, I just sat there, absorbing the miracle of modern science (or whatever this system was).
Then, a loud banging on my door ruined the peace.
"KAKASHI! TRAINING! LET'S GO!"
Obito.
Of course.
I sighed, shoving the cream into my pouch before trudging outside.
"Alright, team!" Minato-sensei greeted us with his usual cheerful tone, standing in the training field like he hadn't just woken up three half-dead teenagers for another day of suffering. "Today, we're focusing on endurance and adaptability!"
Obito groaned. "Ugh, can't we do something cool like learning a new jutsu?"
"Endurance is the foundation of all techniques," Minato said wisely.
I stifled a yawn. Great. More running in circles.
Minato smiled. "And as motivation, today's exercise will be… a game of tag!"
I narrowed my eye. I don't like where this is going.
Minato clapped his hands together. "With me as 'it.'"
Oh no.
Obito paled. "H-hold on, sensei, let's be reasonable here—"
"Start!"
Then Minato disappeared.
I barely had time to react before a whoosh of air signaled Minato reappearing—right behind Obito.
"Gotcha!"
"AAGGHH!" Obito yelped as Minato poked his shoulder and poof! He was out.
Rin and I immediately sprinted in opposite directions.
I leapt onto a tree branch, heart pounding. No way am I getting caught first—
A warm breeze blew past my ear.
I turned my head.
Minato was right there.
I barely managed to shunshin away before his hand touched my shoulder. My feet hit the ground, and I sprinted.
Nope. Not today.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Rin trying to stay hidden, blending into the terrain. Obito, meanwhile, sat on the ground, watching like an old man shaking his head at youth.
"Kakashi, behind you!" Rin suddenly shouted.
I spun around—just in time for Minato to appear again.
My body moved on instinct. I twisted midair, activating the weights' gravity shift at just the right moment, propelling myself away like a launched shuriken.
I landed on a tree, panting.
Minato blinked. "Oh? That was new."
Obito gawked. "DID HE JUST FLY?!"
"It's called training," I muttered, trying to catch my breath. And maybe cheating. Just a little.
Minato smiled. "Impressive, Kakashi. But—"
Then he vanished.
I had half a second to process before a hand tapped my shoulder.
"Tag. You're it."
I scowled. Sensei is a menace.
I sat under a tree, watching the sky as Rin and Obito argued over something dumb. My muscles still ached, but I had the recovery cream for that.
Another day done.
The system rewards were helping. The weights were brutal, but effective.
I let out a slow breath.
Let me have a few more days like this.
Just a few more.
