Starting to Gain Experience from Push-Ups

Chapter 322: The Rainy Night Chase

After finishing these two physically demanding tasks, he was indeed feeling quite hungry.

Unfortunately, in this weather, and it being past two in the morning, the streets were deserted, with only the streetlights standing guard in solitude.

The vast majority of shops had already shut their doors, remaining pitch black.

Fang Cheng withdrew his gaze, quickly planning his next move in his mind.

He had just received the latest intel from Xu Hao: not far from the Midnight Forest Bar, there was another small Noah Organization outpost.

It was suspected that high-ranking personnel might be stationed there.

He decided to drop by on his way.

Once this task was resolved, he could call it a night and go home for a good rest.

Thinking of this, Fang Cheng lifted his head, his sharp gaze piercing through the rain, looking at the end of the road ahead.

About a kilometer away, red and blue police lights could be vaguely seen flashing at the intersection.

Several officers in reflective raincoats, armed, were braving the rain at a temporary checkpoint, conducting checks on passing vehicles.

Fang Cheng's gaze flickered slightly. He calmly reached into the storage compartment under the passenger seat, retrieving a palm-sized portable police strobe light.

He then lowered the car window a bit, extended his arm, and with a "clack," attached the magnetic strobe light to the center of the car roof.

Following that, he pressed the remote button at hand.

"Woo—woo—woo—"

The sharp, urgent sound of the siren suddenly blared, instantly slicing through the rainy night's silence, sounding extraordinarily harsh on the empty streets.

The officers on duty at the intersection heard the siren and saw a black sedan, topped with a police light, speeding towards them. Instinctively, they assumed it was "one of their own" from some department, executing an urgent task or pursuing a fugitive.

With hardly any hesitation, the officer in charge of the barricade immediately gestured to let them through, swiftly moving the barrier aside.

Fang Cheng, his expression unchanged, smoothly drove the sedan past the checkpoint without being questioned or stopped.

The siren continued blaring forward before he shut it off again in the distance, and the vehicle, along with the noise, swiftly disappeared into the depths of the rain.

Meanwhile, on a service road not far from the checkpoint,

a black SUV with special plates quietly sat by the roadside.

Inside the cabin, the rich aroma of braised beef noodle seasoning filled the air, mixed with a faint scent of tobacco.

Two young men in plain clothes were wolfing down instant noodles.

The noodles were loaded with extra ingredients—sausage, marinated eggs, and pickled mustard, with bright red chili oil floating on the broth.

The two were sweating profusely, their mouths glistening with oil.

They were none other than Zhou Liang and Ali, two officers of the Special Search Team.

Under the command of Gao Jin, they and their teammates had indeed captured quite a few Noah Organization members tonight.

Yet, unexpectedly, the scale of Noah Organization's operation was so large.

The Special Search Team was severely understaffed, forced to watch helplessly as most criminals scattered and fled.

Zhou Liang and Ali had just escorted a batch of captured criminals back to headquarters for handover, without even having time for a drink of water, before being dispatched again to continue patrolling, hoping to catch a few stragglers.

Taking advantage of the absence of new instructions, the pair hurriedly found a relatively secluded spot, made two cups of instant noodles, and replenished their long-exhausted physical strength.

"Damn it! Xu Hao's info was so unclear!"

Ali slurped the last spoonful of noodle soup, wiped his mouth, and couldn't help but complain:

"If I'd known Noah was going big, we should have called over Lao Yang and their team!"

"Just Gao Jin and Qin leading isn't enough. We're stuck cleaning up the mess with little chance for glory!"

"Alright, be content with what you have."

Zhou Liang was relatively calm, tearing open a pack of pickled mustard and pouring it into the remaining broth, stirring it as he advised:

"If the entire elite team were out, we'd end up just standing guard on the sidelines. At least this way, we can catch a few small fries, and the year-end appraisal will look better."

Ali pouted, wanting to say more, but his gaze inadvertently swept past the window.

He happened to see the black sedan with the siren zooming past.

He suddenly exclaimed "huh" in surprise, showing some astonishment on his face.

"What? Spotted a target?"

Zhou Liang didn't lift his head, still focusing on his bowl of noodles:

"No."

Ali smacked his lips, somewhat uncertainly said:

"The guy driving past just now… I couldn't see clearly through the rain, but from the side profile, why did it look a bit like you? Could it be your long-lost brother?"

"Get lost! My mom only had me!"

Zhou Liang scowled at his partner:

"Eat your noodles and quit talking nonsense! It's probably a colleague from some division rushing to an incident."

Saying this, he lowered his head again, slurping up the noodles noisily, ignoring his partner's babbling.

After a brief rest, they would continue their long and dangerous chase through the rainy night.

As Special Search Team officers, they might seem impressive to outsiders, but essentially they were no different from regular workers, even more exhausting and hazardous.

On this stormy night, their task had only just begun.
