Chapter 129: Love, The Most Illogical Thing in the World
Late at night, Milani gently pushed open Ivyst's bedroom door.
Looking at the white-haired woman sitting at her desk, gazing out the window, Milani took a deep breath and suppressed the many words she wanted to say.
In her view, the reason why the Princess had summoned her today was simple.
It was all about the memories Lynn had forgotten.
Although searching multiple times in a short period could harm him, considering the state the Princess had been in lately, it was very likely she would disregard his safety and forcefully search.
And that was something Milani didn't want to see happen.
When exactly did everything start to change?
Perhaps it was when the news of Lynn's death spread throughout the estate and the Princess lost her once-prided Power of Annihilation.
From then on, everything started feeling off.
The once vivid and assertive military woman was no longer visible; in her place was a patient who had fallen into paranoia.
The double blow had crushed her will, leaving her feeling insecure and left to rely on sick and frenzied methods to maintain this distorted relationship.
But a distortion is still a distortion.
No matter how prettily it is dressed up, there will eventually come a day of awakening.
At that time, she would face an even harsher reality.
What... should she do?
"Have a seat."
Milani, lost in thought, suddenly heard the Princess's calm voice.
Not cold or indifferent, but even revealing a rare hint of softness.
Milani was startled; she thought she had misheard.
She sat down on the chair beside her silently, a little awkwardly cradling her hands on her knees, and the slender legs hanging from the chair unconsciously swayed gently.
Looking at the cool woman surrounded by moonlight, the atmosphere turned somewhat silent.
After an unknown amount of time, a voice suddenly came through: "About the last incident... I am sorry."
Ah?
Milani looked up in surprise at the Princess, who had her back to her; her mouth opened, but she was unable to speak.
The Princess... was actually apologizing to her?
This was something she had never encountered before.
For some reason, Milani felt her eyes welling up, as if moved.
Even if it might be her own misconception, Milani felt that tonight's Princess seemed different from recent days.
Before Milani could respond, Ivyst spoke again: "About his missing memories, have there been any leads from the lab?"
"If you intend to probe his brain, I will cooperate with you as much as possible without hurting him..."
Milani bit her lower lip.
"That's not what I mean." Ivyst shook her head gently, "As far as I know, the memories about me in his brain appear to have been sealed by a being suspected to be a deity; do you have a way to break this Seal?"
Milani was stunned for a few seconds, then shook her head: "Princess, if you hadn't told me, I wouldn't even have noticed the existence of that Seal."
"But... perhaps there's not completely no chance."
"If the god that applied the Sealing Technique isn't strong, or is in a weakened state, it would be possible to pay a certain price and ask for the intervention of major churches."
"As I know, the Silent Church possesses a Sealed Object which is highly effective in lifting negative psychic effects."
"If you need it, then I..."
Milani offered her a new line of thought.
However, after a moment of silence, Ivyst shook her head softly again: "No... let's forget about it."
This answer confused Milani once more.
Based on her understanding of Ivyst, given her pathological possessiveness, she would absolutely not tolerate any other being influencing what was hers.
Especially concerning her memories.
Unless... the things that could happen after unlocking the memories were something the Princess couldn't accept.
Milani glanced at Ivyst with some concern.
In some sense, her intuition was really accurate.
Even Ivyst herself did not realize that her refusal of the proposal was actually due to a subtle fear deep inside.
Everything that was happening now could still use the excuse of sealed memories.
But once the memories were unlocked, the last fig leaf would no longer exist.
Ivyst was escaping.
She feared that Lynn, once his memories were restored, would tell her that in fact, the Witch from the future was the master he truly valued.
However, at this very moment, both of them in the room forgot something.
If that being was so confident, why bother using the technique to seal memories?
Regrettably, neither Milani nor Ivyst realized this.
"When will the power I've lost gradually recover?"
After a moment, Ivyst asked the question she cared about most.
Milani pursed her lips and said softly: "According to the results of the physical examination, the core properties of the Wish Jar inside you have already been cleansed by your Power of Annihilation, and theoretically, it should have already begun to resurrect gradually."
"But strangely, no matter what kind of stimuli are used, the power within you remains utterly still."
Ivyst fell silent for a moment: "Do you have any clue about this?"
Without power, she was like a duckweed without roots.
After all, every relationship around her was constructed relying on her own powerful ability.
Once that power ceased to exist, everything would crumble.
