Strange use of Magic (Black Clover AU)

Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Strange Underwater Temple (5)

[Third Person's PoV]

Through the expansive viewing bubble, they saw that Vetto had not come alone. Flanking him were several white-robed mages, all bearing the emblem of the Eye of the Midnight Sun. Their presence was foreboding, their magical auras pulsating faintly through the air like a low hum of menace. Vetto exchanged a few curt words with them before dismissing them with a wave of his hand. Obediently, the mages vanished into the shadows, leaving Vetto standing tall and defiant.

The hulking figure of Vetto then turned his attention to his challengers: Gio, the High Priest's proud and powerful son, and two young Black Bulls, Luck and Magna. Together, the trio faced off against the beast of a man. For a fleeting moment, the air crackled with anticipation.

Then, it happened. In mere seconds, the three were obliterated. Gio, Luck, and Magna were flung to the ground, crumpling like broken marionettes. The viewing bubble trembled faintly, and an eerie silence fell upon the onlookers.

"That's… that's impossible…" the old priest stammered, his voice trembling. He clutched the edge of his seat as if seeking some semblance of stability. "Gio… Gio is the strongest in the Temple! And he just…"

Yami stood, his imposing frame casting a long shadow over the room. He took a long drag from his cigarette before letting the smoke curl lazily from his lips. "Hey, Gramps," he said, his voice low and steady, "the game's over. Let me in there. ASAP."

The old man's wide eyes flicked to Yami. "What in the world… is that man?!"

Yami's expression remained calm, though his eyes narrowed slightly. "He's one of the top dogs in a nasty terrorist group. No time for questions. Just get me in there."

"I… I can't," the priest said, his voice wavering with a mix of guilt and helplessness. "Until the game concludes, we're all bound here. I can't undo the spell, either. Those are the rules of my magic."

"Tch. I see." Yami's tone was calm but carried an undercurrent of annoyance. Slowly, he gripped the hilt of his katana, pulling it free from its scabbard with a deliberate, practiced motion. The blade gleamed for a moment before becoming enveloped in pitch-black darkness. The air itself seemed to tremble around the weapon as a void-like aura began to seep from it.

"Guess I'll make my own way in."

[Dark Magic: Lightless Slash]

Yami swung his blade in a series of precise arcs, each motion sending waves of impenetrable black energy slamming into the temple's walls. The stone groaned under the force before crumbling away entirely, revealing the shimmering barrier that sealed them in. Despite his efforts, the barrier remained intact.

"W-What in the world?!" the old man gasped, clutching his staff even tighter.

Yami clicked his tongue in frustration, just as Stephen calmly rose from the couch, brushing imaginary dust from his tailored coat. He reached for the Cloak of Levitation, draping it over his shoulders with a practiced flick.

In the viewing bubble, Vetto's gaze suddenly snapped toward them, his glowing eyes locking onto their exact position. His lips curled into a crazed grin as if he could sense their every move. "Black Foreign Swordsman… White Patch Sorcerer…" His voice echoed, rich with malice. "The Mana told me you two were here! Stay there and watch for a while, you two are my main dish. First I'll season you with the despair of your comrades death!!"

Stephen tilted his head slightly, his expression one of detached curiosity. "Hm? Where does such confidence come from? I clearly remember beating his ass the first time we meet" His tone was calm, almost mocking. "Does he truly believe we couldn't get to him?"

Yami glanced at him, eyebrows raised. "You got a way to break through this barrier, kid?"

Stephen's gaze turned sharp, a small smirk playing on his lips. "It's not a barrier, per se," he explained, his voice light and tinged with amusement. "This is a pocket dimension. That's why you could cut through the walls earlier. We're trapped in a separate space."

Stephen let out a soft chuckle, his fingers covering his mouth to hide his amusement. "Honestly… believing that placing me in another dimension would stop me… How quaint. How utterly adorable."

"Kid, stop being weird… Do you truly have a way to break through" Yami asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I have multiple ways really, I'm just having trouble deciding which way would be the coolest" Stephen said before he snapped his fingers, "I guess I'll finally be able to use this new spell I've been practicing…"

Stephen strode purposefully toward the shimmering barrier, his eyes narrowing in focus. Dropping into a deep horse stance, he began moving his hands in intricate, fluid patterns. Energy crackled in the air as a massive, glowing magic circle began to take shape behind him, its complexity growing with each passing second.

"Stand back," Stephen instructed, his voice steady but commanding.

Yami didn't hesitate. He grabbed the old man by the waist and carried him several steps away.

"More," Stephen ordered sharply, without looking back. His voice softened as he whispered, "Nero, go to Yami. I don't want you too close to this."

The small bird tilted her head at Stephen before reluctantly fluttering away, perching on Yami's shoulder.

"You have any idea what he's up to?" Yami asked, glancing at Nero.

Nero shrugged her wings, her confusion mirroring his.

The magic circle behind Stephen grew even more elaborate, its intricate design now displaying seven radiant suns arranged in a perfect ring. Each sun pulsed with its own intensity, casting shimmering hues of gold and crimson light across the landscape.

Stephen clenched his fists, raising them in front of him as he began to chant with a voice that resonated with power:

"I call forth the power of the Seven Sacred Suns of Cinnibus… Let your might surge through me"

A deep, resonating hum filled the air, the magic circle blazing to life.

[Arcane Magic: Seven Suns of Cinnibus]

The suns on the circle began to glow fiercely, their light cascading through a spectrum of colors. Stephen's entire being seemed to channel their energy, the power gathering in his fists. The aura around him shifted—first a scorching red, then vibrant orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and finally violet.

His fist now radiated with the combined might of seven suns, each hue crackling with celestial energy. The ground beneath him trembled and grew hotter, the sheer intensity of the spell overwhelming.

Stephen's eyes burned with a purple hue as he contained the power.

Yami and the others looked towards Stephen in pure disbelief. They could feel the very heat from where they stood burning against their skin.

"Kid… What kind of freak are you…" Yami asked.

Stephen grinned as the purple flames seemed to dance around his figure, "The one that can tear a hole through a dimension with a single punch!"

Stephen roared as threw his fist towards the barrier. No matter how powerful a barrier was it surely wouldn't be able to contain the power of seven suns smashing against them at full strength.

As Stephen's fist connected with the barrier, time itself seemed to hold its breath.

For a moment, nothing happened. The faint hum of the barrier persisted, as though resisting the sheer force of Stephen's attack. Then, the silence shattered.

A deafening crack echoed through the dimension as the point of impact exploded with a dazzling array of colors. The magic circle behind Stephen flared brighter, feeding the unrelenting power of the Seven Suns into his punch. The barrier's surface rippled like water in a storm, the force distorting its structure as fractures began to spiderweb outward.

Vetto, sensing what was occurring from the other side of the viewing bubble, faltered for the briefest of moments. His crazed grin twitched, replaced by a flicker of disbelief. "Impossible…" he whispered.

The cracks widened, glowing white-hot as the barrier's integrity faltered under the onslaught. Stephen's roar echoed through the chamber, the force of his voice merging with the cascading energy. The barrier began to crumble, pieces of its magical construct shattering and evaporating into streams of light.

The power of the suns reached its peak, and with a final, earth-shattering boom, the dimensional barrier was obliterated. The force of the explosion sent shockwaves through the temple, shaking its very foundations.

Everyone let out a scream as they held onto whatever was nearest towards them.

Stephen stood amidst the dissipating energy, his cloak billowing from the aftermath. Smoke curled from his fist, the residual heat scorching the ground beneath him. His eyes glowed faintly as he surveyed his work with a self-satisfied smirk.

"Well, that was dramatic," he remarked, brushing soot off his coat. "But effective."

Yami, still shielding the old man, let out a low whistle. "You didn't just tear through the barrier—you obliterated it. Kid, remind me never to piss you off."

The old man, trembling, stared at Stephen in awe. "What… What kind of magic is that? Who even are you?"

Stephen glanced back, his expression calm but laced with sharp confidence. "The kind of person you don't trap in a dimension and expect to just sit still."
