Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 871: First Hearing of Reorganization

The net to find Tang Tian was cast wide open, with departments working in unison, even a wanted order was issued, and news bulletins were broadcast immediately. People were curious to see a girl of about fifteen or sixteen as a wanted criminal, but out of trust in the government, they paid attention and cooperated with the inquiries and investigations of the relevant departments.

An hour after the net was cast, there was still no news. Luo Zheng knew Tang Tian had escaped and hidden away, and definitely had other identification documents; otherwise, she could not have evaded the government's pursuit. He faintly felt that Tang Tian might become a serious threat to him, and this feeling was unsettling.

Time gradually slipped by, and before they knew it, it was the afternoon of the next day. When the news of General Liu's return reached them, it meant that the security mission was basically over. But until the task was fully completed, Luo Zheng dared not be careless; he went out to check around the security deployment. Shi Tao and Niu Gang looked in good spirits; they had achieved a lot from their cooperation in this operation and were awarded internally, making them very grateful to Luo Zheng.

The Ministry of Public Security paid a great deal of attention to this security mission. Shi Feng, who cooperated, also achieved a lot, naturally entering the radar of relevant leaders in the Ministry of Public Security. It had been internally decided that Shi Feng would take the position of deputy director; just waiting for organizational procedures now. Shi Feng also caught wind of this, feeling secretly elated and very grateful to Luo Zheng.

As for He Shan, Zhou Gang, and the others, they would be able to return with honors too. They were brothers who lived and died together, and it was already exciting to fight side by side, but earning credits made everyone even happier.

Luo Zheng saw everyone was in good spirits, subtly reminded them not to get carried away, and returned to the living room to drink tea. Lan Xue came over, sat across, and said softly, "The General sent a message, saying there will be a family dinner at home at seven in the evening to personally thank everyone for their contributions."

"I just want to have a good sleep," Luo Zheng said with a bitter smile. Several days of fatigue from the battle, with highly concentrated attention, severely drained Luo Zheng's energy.

"I do too." Lan Xue lazily leaned against the sofa, making a languid sigh, oblivious to the endless allure and temptation her posture carried. When she found Luo Zheng staring blankly at her chest, she felt puzzled and glanced down. Due to the shirt she was wearing, leaning made it bulge, and suddenly she realized, blushing with embarrassment, gave Luo Zheng a glare, seeing him giggling foolishly, she moved softly and asked, "Nice to look at?"

"Beautiful," Luo Zheng sincerely praised.

"Liar, you wouldn't want to look when I'm old," Lan Xue teased.

"If I could watch you grow old slowly, it would be the greatest happiness of my life," Luo Zheng said, his expression becoming somewhat heavy. As a soldier, no one knows when they might die. Watching one's beloved grow old is such a happy thing, isn't it?

Lan Xue was deeply touched and blushed. Her heart filled with joy, as if these were the best words of love in the world. As a soldier, she understood Luo Zheng's thoughts; to be alive is already a luxury, and to grow old together with a loved one is very easy for ordinary people, but for soldiers who might die in battle at any time, this is the happiest thing.

"There's something I want to talk to you about," Lan Xue suddenly said softly, giving Luo Zheng a look, stood up, and walked outside, sitting in the garden on a lounge chair.

Luo Zheng followed, sat down beside her, leaning, looking at the garden filled with flowers, emitting fragrances. Across was a vibrant flower, on which a bee buzzed, sunlight pouring down with a taste of happiness. Other patrolling people quietly left, leaving the space to the two. Luo Zheng refocused and asked softly, "There's no one monitoring here, nor anyone eavesdropping, speak what is it?"

"Hmm, originally you have no right to know this, but there's no harm in telling you. Just don't spread it around." Lan Xue softly instructed, seeing Luo Zheng's expression turn serious and nodding solemnly, she continued, "The organization is preparing to restructure, merging the Special Warfare Team and the Intelligence Team, with the Equipment Team remaining unchanged."

National Blade is divided into the Special Warfare Team, Intelligence Team, and Equipment Team. Although the number of people is not large, it's structured at a brigade level with special privileges, commanding respect. Luo Zheng understood these aspects very well, but it was the first time he heard about the restructuring, and he looked at Lan Xue in surprise, asking, "How will they reorganize?"

"The Equipment Team remains unchanged. After merging the Intelligence Team and Special Warfare Team, it's expected to be divided into ten departments, called the Strategic Special Service Department. Each department is responsible for several countries or a continent's affairs, like Southeast Asia. Having a dedicated department, work becomes more in-depth and detailed, somewhat resembling a division of war zones. The specifics are under study, and not many know about this, it can't be spread around," Lan Xue explained.

"Is that so? What about us?" Luo Zheng asked, surprised.

"That's why I am telling you; I want to hear your opinion. Not all ten departments will be deployed out; two teams will be kept at the headquarters as strategic reserves, ready to provide support wherever needed. Should we go out or stay at the headquarters?" Lan Xue asked in a low voice.

"This matter is best discussed with Ghost Hand, Snow Leopard, and Mountain Eagle before deciding. But, the two of us can talk first. My personal opinion is that staying at headquarters is better, always being available to support globally. There would be more opportunities to earn merits and thus frequent chances to train, this way I will have the opportunity to win the title of Strongest Soldier King and marry you, although your grandfather agreed to our matter, and there's no problem with your father, a man should keep his word," Luo Zheng contemplated seriously.

"Hmm, I'll listen to you." Lan Xue said, feeling sweet as Luo Zheng saw the matter at such a high level. After thinking for a while, she continued, "Ghost Hand, Mountain Eagle, and Snow Leopard are already twenty-five or twenty-six, at the peak of their combat strength. In two or three years they will begin their decline, we must consider their future. Whether to stay with us or go elsewhere, they should decide for themselves. I won't leave, wherever you go, I will follow."

"Hmm, I know you're the best to me," Luo Zheng said gratefully.

"I've already persuaded Charlie. You avenged her; she will come out again to become a member of our new team. After the reorganization, the number of people will increase. If you have an eye on anyone here, they can be brought in, of course, they must pass the assessment and political screening, you know the rules," Lan Xue thought of something and reminded quickly.

"Oh?" Luo Zheng started pondering. The ages of He Shan and others were advancing; although their enthusiasm remains, their combat ability is still good but no longer suitable for frontline combat. Zhou Gang and others are quite good, in their early twenties, similar in age to me. If they can pass the assessment this would indeed be a strong support. As for Shi Tao, Niu Gang, and others, their age has reached a limit and could not, Shi Feng and others even less so, not to mention the age, their combat ability is also insufficient.

With that thought in mind, Luo Zheng had a plan and smiled confidently.
