Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 899: Hostage Replacement

The other party silently picked up a detector, scanned Luo Zheng, confirmed no trackers were present, and then sped off in the car. Luo Zheng anticipated this when he went downstairs, leaving behind all electronic devices and documents, carrying nothing on him.

Throughout the journey, Luo Zheng kept pondering a question: How did Tang Tian get evidence from an old case? Tang Tian wasn't born at that time, so there's no reason she would know about it. There must be another reason; perhaps someone helped Tang Tian? As this thought crossed his mind, Luo Zheng grew cautiously alert and touched the belt wrapped closely around his body, which contained nearly a hundred ceramic nails undetectable by metal detectors, giving him some confidence.

After about ten minutes, the car arrived at the back gate of a large power plant. The security door opened automatically, and the car drove inside, soon reaching a parking lot. The driver said coldly, "Over there, go by yourself."

Luo Zheng looked in the direction the driver indicated. It was a small villa, brightly lit, surrounded by darkness without a soul in sight. However, Luo Zheng vaguely felt that many people were concealed in the darkness, perhaps snipers aiming at him. He glanced toward the source of danger, got out without hesitation, and walked forward.

Four people emerged from the villa—three burly men, clearly not ordinary individuals, eyes cold and emitting a beast-like dangerous aura. In front of them was a young girl, around fifteen or sixteen, dressed in casual leather clothing, with her hair tied in a ponytail, exuding a clear aura.

Luo Zheng scrutinized them—an oval face, a delicate face carrying a cool demeanor, large eyes, slightly furrowed eyebrows, and jet-black eyelashes unable to conceal the chilling murderous intent. Luo Zheng said coldly, "So young but already learning to fight and kill, truly like father, like daughter."

"Well said, you're not bad either, reaching this level at such a young age. If we weren't enemies, I might even feel some admiration." The girl retorted coldly.

From the voice, Luo Zheng knew it was Tang Tian and continued, "Psychological tactics don't work on me, so don't pretend to be close. The Wild Wolf Mercenary Group no longer exists, why persist?"

"You're wrong. The Wild Wolf Mercenary Group has survived for nearly a hundred years without end, and I am the new generation's Wolf King. Surprised?" Tang Tian said coldly, with endless anger.

"Your father told me before he died, he only wanted his family to live better, hence the mercenary path. If he knew you followed his footsteps, I wonder what he'd think." Luo Zheng retorted coldly.

"I will personally kill you." Tang Tian's face turned pale, saying coldly, an icy wind seemed to blow past.

"Alright, I'm waiting. Your father was right. I kill you, you kill me—that's just our paths diverging. When you let hatred consume you, you've already lost yourself. What about those killed by you? Who should they seek revenge from?" Luo Zheng sneered coldly.

"If they don't know how to exact revenge, that's their problem. Who sympathizes with incompetence?" Tang Tian said coldly. "If I didn't have some skills, would you value me so much? Would you be willing to become a hostage?"

"Hmm, there's some truth to that. I have no choice but to come as a hostage to ensure her safety. So, when do we exchange?" Luo Zheng laughed coldly.

Tang Tian looked at Luo Zheng coldly, suddenly raised her hand, and shortly after, someone came out from the villa—it was Lan Xing. Lan Xing, seeing Luo Zheng coming to exchange for her alone, was moved to tears, saying, "Why are you being foolish? They will kill you."

"Take the evidence home and don't let my efforts go to waste," Luo Zheng comforted.

"They gave me the original evidence and made a copy," Lan Xing quickly said.

Luo Zheng glanced at Tang Tian, who sneered, "Dealing with you people requires multiple precautions. How about it? Satisfied with the transaction?"

"Only when she reaches a safe place and is confirmed, can I be at ease." Luo Zheng replied coldly.

Tang Tian made another gesture, and a burly man approached Lan Xing. Lan Xing looked at Luo Zheng with gratitude, shouting, "You must stay well, don't make my sister worry." Then she followed the burly man, got into a car, and drove away, disappearing into the night.

Seeing Tang Tian's sincerity, Luo Zheng secretly sighed in relief. Tang Tian glanced at the nearby burly man, who took out two pairs of handcuffs cautiously, throwing them at Luo Zheng's feet without moving forward. Tang Tian said, "You take out ten guards by yourself, quite a spectacular scene. Your skills are beyond my expectations, so I have to be careful. Put them on yourself."

"No problem. Just not before she is confirmed safe. You've got no less than three snipers and five shooters ambushing around, and three competent individuals protecting you. Are you really afraid I'd make a move?" Luo Zheng laughed coldly, eyes casually searching for an escape opportunity.

"You're right. If you dare resist, they'll act immediately. We're about ten meters apart; from the start of an attack to coming close to me, it would take around two seconds, enough time for everyone to react and open fire. Want to try?" Tang Tian sneered indifferently.

"If you were a weak girl, maybe I'd try, but I know you're quite formidable. At least, I'm not confident enough to take you down in one move, so resisting is pointless. Of course, if you insist on force, I wouldn't mind dying here. I've already made preparations before coming—reporting safety every hour; if it fails, it means I'm dead, and my men will retaliate without hesitation." Luo Zheng scoffed coldly, the so-called preparation was just improvised to intimidate Tang Tian.

Indeed, Tang Tian's expression became serious, frowning and pondering, then suddenly smiled, saying, "Good plan, well-calculated. However, it doesn't matter. We're leaving here soon. Once she leaves, she'll certainly bring people here. I don't want to wait to die." Saying this, she dialed a number, whispered a few queries.

Soon, Tang Tian dialed another number and tossed the phone to Luo Zheng. Luo Zheng caught it, glanced at the number—Lan Xing's—and connected, asking, "How are you?"

"The person left me, I caught a taxi to the hotel, I'm safe for now," Lan Xing said anxiously. "How about you? Please, don't let anything happen; how will I face my sister then?"

"Go to your grandfather's immediately, call your sister to meet you there." Luo Zheng advised.
