Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 903: Song Tao's Suicide

All the way to chase, Lan Xue once again caught up with Song Tao, both sides separated by just a staircase distance, the man in the black suit kept firing to obstruct, making it impossible for Lan Xue to get close and capture. Song Tao was a key figure who must be captured alive, more evidence was needed to take down the Song family. She couldn't shoot Song Tao, so Lan Xue vented her anger on the man in black. When Ghost Hand caught up, she shouted, "Cover me with firepower."

"Understood." Ghost Hand responded, charging fiercely below, suppressing the man in black with bullets, providing cover for Lan Xue.

Lan Xue leaped forward fearlessly, ignoring the opponent's bullets. Seeing she was about to catch up, the man in black changed his expression, stopped without hesitation, aimed coldly at Lan Xue despite Ghost Hand's shooting. A bullet hit Lan Xue, her body paused, almost simultaneously firing a shot that hit the opponent's forehead, killing him instantly.

The bullet hit close range, piercing even the tight clothing, quickly staining her body with blood, but Lan Xue seemed unfazed, jumping onto a small building and soon caught up with Song Tao. Song Tao, realizing he couldn't outrun Lan Xue, frantically opened the fire escape and rushed inside.

Lan Xue followed closely, finding Song Tao already on the corridor, holding a woman hostage who looked like an office worker. The building housed many companies, with many people working on each floor. The hostage's face was pale, struggling desperately yet unable to break free from Song Tao's grip, with a gun aimed at her chin.

"Don't move, nobody move," Song Tao commanded coldly.

Lan Xue signaled Ghost Hand, who had caught up, not to move rashly, and said coldly to Song Tao, "I didn't expect you to use this tactic to escape. What an irony, you know it's useless against me, so why bother?"

"I don't care, you leave immediately, or I'll shoot," said Song Tao coldly, pressing the gun harder, scaring the hostage into screaming hysterically, her face turning pale.

"Truly bringing shame to the Song family," Ghost Hand sneered contemptuously, aiming his gun at Song Tao.

"Alright, with your intellect, you should know it's over, why continue to sin? Let go," Lan Xue said coldly, signaling the curious office workers gathering around to avoid.

Song Tao's face stiffened, turning ashen, slowly lowering his gun while glaring at Lan Xue coldly. The hostage struggled and took the chance to run away in panic. Ghost Hand wanted to apprehend Song Tao but found Song Tao suddenly pointing a gun at his own chin, shouting hysterically, "Once I die, all clues are severed, you gain nothing." His eyes flickered with a resolute coldness.

"Bang!" A gunshot echoed, hitting Song Tao's hand, the handgun flying away. Lan Xue looked coldly at Song Tao, her gun emitting smoke, sneered disdainfully, "When it comes to scheming, you're an expert, but in a fight, you're nothing to me. Without my permission, dying would be hard."

"Ah—" Song Tao screamed in pain, clutching his hand, turned and fled.

Lan Xue chased without hesitation, how could she let her prey get away? Suddenly noticing Song Tao's speed was even faster than hers, she was shocked, but found Song Tao sprinting wildly along the corridor towards the end, which was a viewing balcony, the chest-high circular cement railing seeming unnoticed by Song Tao as he charged forward.

"Not good," Lan Xue reacted immediately, exerting force with her feet, her speed increasing abruptly, reaching out to grab Song Tao, only catching his coat as Song Tao lunged forward, flipping over the balcony.

Standing on the balcony, holding a piece of clothing, Lan Xue coldly watched Song Tao fall motionless below. No one could survive a fall from ten stories. Lan Se turned solemn, her delicate brows knitted, complex emotions rising in her heart. Ghost Hand ran up, glanced at Song Tao below, and said somewhat wistfully, "Indeed worthy of being the Song family's future Family Head, ruthless to others, ruthless to himself, willing to commit suicide to protect the family, has some courage."

"Yes, but by this, we are passive. His death allows the Song family to pin everything on Song Tao, the Song family can preserve temporarily, while we face the Song family's frenzied revenge. More importantly, would he be implicated?" Lan Xue said worriedly.

"Ghost?" Ghost Hand pondered, thought for a moment, and said, "If Tang Tian came to avenge the Song family, no matter who killed Song Tao, it doesn't change Tang Tian's attitude towards Ghost. If Tang Tian came for money, she would blame us and contact us actively."

"You're right, let the police handle the aftermath, remove the surveillance here, proving Song Tao suicided out of guilt, preventing future trouble. In such times, it's better to avoid more issues," Lan Xue instructed, with a heavy expression, walking toward the elevator entrance.

Along the way, many people were watching from company entrances, seeing Lan Xue and Ghost Hand approach, blood still oozing from Lan Xue's chest, they retreated in fear, avoiding, and after watching them enter the elevator, rushed out of their offices running to the balcony, discussing the recent events excitedly.

In the elevator, Lan Xue pondered heavily. Song Tao's death brought no satisfaction of great revenge being avenged, Lan Xue was more worried about Luo Zheng's safety now. Exiting the elevator, Lan Xue left others to handle the aftermath, drove away first. On the road, Lan Xue informed her grandfather of the situation.

Minutes later, Lan Xue returned home, finding her father there, deep in thought. A wedding photo hung in the living room. Lan Xue suspiciously examined it, recognizing the man as her father when young, the woman unfamiliar, definitely not his current stepmother. She looked at her father in surprise.

"Notice she looks a lot like you?" Mr. Lan said joyfully, his eyes filled with loving and gratified smiles as he looked at Lan Xue.

"My mom?" Lan Xue uncertainly questioned, her gaze on the portrait again, indeed seeing some resemblance, her eyes reddening, tears involuntarily rolling down.

"I wronged your mom, and you sisters too. I already know the situation, that bastard Song Tao is dead, our family's revenge is half fulfilled. I've called the lawyer, entrusted to handle the divorce. I missed once, I don't want to continue making mistakes, hoping you sisters forgive me," Mr. Lan said earnestly, eyes full of expectation.

Lan Xue was taken aback, realizing her father intended to divorce her stepmother. This was something Lan Xue had longed for, yet hearing the news brought no joy, thinking of Luo Zheng's uncertain fate, feeling heavy-hearted she said, "Our revenge is served, but what about me?"
