Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 942: Another Victory

The thirty-man attack squad was knocked to the ground in a chaotic assault, which instantly relieved the pressure on everyone and boosted morale. Lan Xue glanced at the follow-up enemies, sneered, and turned her gun to fire ahead. The others followed suit, aiming and shooting, capitalizing on their small victory, their attack becoming a few degrees sharper. Over two hundred men shouted and fired aggressively, venting their panic, like enraged hungry wolves under the moonlight.

While the battle at the mountain entrance was intense, the slopes on both sides remained still. Everyone was quietly lurking, their eyes fixed on the front, constantly searching for suspicious points, strictly preventing the enemy from sneaking up. Luo Zheng watched this through binoculars, and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. If Siya Fa had directly exerted their full force and launched a fierce attack, Gai Wafu's troops might not withstand the pressure. The morale would fall, and defeat would be inevitable.

Siya Fa's probing attack was a good idea to determine Gai Wafu's firepower deployment, but it only managed to uncover the fire around the mountain entrance. Instead, it boosted Gai Wafu's troops' morale, being in an elevated position and protected by trenches, making it difficult to attack, especially from a narrow mountain entrance.

Lan Xue's command not only increased morale but also won everyone's trust. Simultaneous firing of two hundred guns led to the retreat of the attacking formations. Seeing a large convoy approaching, Lan Xue quickly guessed the enemy's tactic and communicated through her earpiece, "The enemy is using trucks for cover to attack. I suggest letting them in to attack."

"Are you suggesting using land mines?" Luo Zheng keenly sensed Lan Xue's intent and asked.

"Yes, use land mines to blow up their leading trucks, stopping the others from advancing." Lan Xue proposed.

"Alright, do as you see fit. Do you need more manpower?" Luo Zheng asked.

"Yes, the forces at the mountain mouth are still too few. I plan to temporarily stop attacking, use the trenches for cover, then mobilize three hundred men here to ambush around and wait for orders." Lan Xue stated.

"Okay, let's do as you say." Luo Zheng agreed readily, relaying the situation to Gai Wafu, who pondered for a moment, then promptly ordered the mobilization of reserves. A team of three hundred men quickly moved towards the high ground near the mountain entrance.

At this time, a dozen trucks roared towards the mountain entrance, followed by soldiers. There were soldiers inside the trucks as well. Concentrated firepower was directed fiercely at the exposed positions on either side of the mountain entrance. Luo Zheng glanced and estimated the attacking troops to be about three hundred men, sufficient to suppress the two hundred lurking-men on either side, aided by truck cover, attacking arrogantly.

However, the mountain entrance on both sides remained silent, as if deserted. This situation was immediately noticed by Siya Fa's troops, whose commander believed Gai Wafu had ambushed and retreated, abandoning the mountain entrance position and was preparing to order advancement. A Sam Country Special Forces officer came over, recommending a halt in the attack, continuing firepower on both sides using trucks, and firing RPGs upwards.

Siya Fa's commander agreed, promptly issuing the order. Soon, the convoy stopped at the mountain entrance, the warlords continued firing heavily on both sides, not caring whether they hit the opponent or not. In the moonlight, the dense bullets were terrifying, and their piercing sound was even more overwhelming.

A dozen people carrying RPGs rushed up under night cover, hid behind the trucks, and aimed at the sides to fire. Numerous RPGs screamed upward with terrifying tail flames, collapsing the mountains on both sides. Gai Wafu's elite troops hidden in trenches turned pale, hugging their heads tight and squatting down, enduring the dual assault of bullets and RPGs, growing uneasy.

Lan Xue understood the condition of the troops. Under such passive battering, it's remarkable that a bandit group without professional training didn't collapse yet. She quickly sought out this troop's commander, urging him to immediately comfort the troops at the front line, instructing the commander to assure everyone to hold on, hide well and stay put, waiting for the battle opportunity.

The commander agreed and hurried off. Lan Xue was unsure how long the troops could endure, observing the intense firepower, bullets fired crazily as if money was no object, and RPGs continuously collapsing some fortifications. Her inner anxiety grew, but she didn't show it at all, lest it affect troop morale.

"Boom, boom, boom!" On the mountain slopes at the mountain entrance, RPGs roared terrifyingly. Some rockets fell directly inside fortifications, blasting hidden people away, with limbs and debris flying everywhere. Thankfully, it was nighttime and the darkness masked all of this; otherwise, the horrific scene would lead the troops directly into collapse.

The enemy's attack was very sharp and extremely determined, lasting a good ten minutes. Nobody knew how many bullets and rockets were spent, yet Gai Wafu's forces by the mountain entrance sides didn't retaliate. Siya Fa's men wanted to rush up to inspect, but climbing the slopes needed time, and after prolonged attacks with no counteraction, the desire to check waned.

The rear commander, observing this scene, reinforced his assumption that Gai Wafu's ambushed troops had retreated, disregarded the Sam Country Special Forces commander's advice to send troops to inspect, and immediately ordered the convoy to advance, with follow-up troops joining.

A dozen trucks started up, covering the soldiers moving forward. The soldiers continued firing cautiously at both sides. The ambushed men on both sides remained motionlessly lying in wait, enduring enemy attacks, holding a belly full of anger. If not for some trust in Lan Xue, they would've charged up and massacred.

In bottled-up waiting, the troops' anger brewed and accumulated. Suddenly, an explosion sounded, appearing ordinary amidst the frequent RPG rocket blasts, yet everyone discerned something different. This explosion was muffled and louder, somewhat distinct from rocket explosions. Amidst their confusion, more intense gunfire sprung up, mixed with screams, startling everyone as the counterattack command rang out.

The oppressed armed personnel had long harbored anger. Upon hearing the command, they howled and vented their fears, leaping up and aiming from foxholes. They saw numerous comrades on higher peaks firing wildly below at enemies on the dirt road, with bullets pinging off trucks, sparking joy that erupted into excited shouts, opening fire in counterattack.

"Ta-ta-ta!" The surviving armed personnel on both sides of the mountain entrance suddenly struck, throwing the people on the dirt road into further chaos, crowding together. Though trucks provided cover, they couldn't block the attacks from all directions, with bullets raining down like locusts, carrying boundless killing intent, creating an exceedingly gruesome scene.
