Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 948: Desperate Pursuit

The threat of a two-sided ambush is enormous. Although this Sam Country Special Forces unit is well-trained and powerful in combat, they can't hold out. They leave five people behind to cover their retreat as the rest fall back again. The attacking team is blocked by these five, unable to push through directly, which makes Luo Zheng grit his teeth in anger, but there is nothing he can do. He has to find a place to hide, setting up his sniper rifle and aiming.

At this moment, Lan Xue's voice came through. Luo Zheng turned his head to look and saw Lan Xue leading others charging forward. Overjoyed, Luo Zheng shouted through the earpiece, "Flank them immediately and block their retreat route. We must annihilate them completely."

Then, more people surged forward, launching a fierce attack on the five Special Forces soldiers at the rear. However, their forces were scattered, and the bullet fire wasn't very intimidating. Occasionally, someone was shot down by the enemy's precision fire. The shooting ability of this Sam Country Special Forces unit was extremely strong, almost every shot took someone down.

Fortunately, Gai Wafu and Sarazi's unit had large numbers. They had suffered some losses in the previous defensive battle, but their strength was still intact. Besides the wounded who were left behind, five to six hundred people participated in the attack, swarming up the hill in a frenzy. Seeing this, Luo Zheng suddenly had an idea and shouted, "Quick, gather the troops immediately."

Though Sarazi and Gai Wafu didn't understand, they chose to obey regardless and quickly conveyed the orders through the radio. Soon, the people running chaotically across the mountains began to regroup. Seeing nearly a hundred people gathered around him, Luo Zheng commanded, "Open fire together and charge through."

Upon hearing this, Sarazi and Gai Wafu instantly understood the plan—to crush the enemy with firepower advantage. Although this approach carried significant risks, it was deadly to the enemy. They gritted their teeth and quickly relayed the order. Everyone, with eyes red from battle, disregarded everything, leaping out of cover, forming a line, and showering the five covering men with a dense net of bullets.

The five men holding the rear saw this unfold and were instantly thrown into chaos. Concealing themselves, they began a shootout, and though the Sam Country Special Forces were not afraid, this suicidal strategy of exchanging life for life was deadly to them. They could kill some people but also exposed themselves, realizing the situation was dire. Remembering their task of covering the rear, they gritted their teeth and fired fiercely.

The exchange of life-for-life shots was tragic and heroic. You shoot me, I shoot you. It was a contest of willpower, precision, and firepower. But Luo Zheng's side had more people with assertive spirits, their will and firepower were robust, and their bullet density made up for any lack of precision. Before long, everyone rushed forward and eliminated the five survivors. Although they had sacrificed three or four times as many of their own, nobody cared anymore.

Many, with eyes red from killing, unleashed a barrage of fire on the corpses. Luo Zheng did not stop them, nor did he wish to. People with eyes red from battle held formidable combat power. With proper guidance, they'd be terrifying forces on the battlefield. He shouted, "The enemies who killed our brothers are ahead. Charge and finish them, kill!"

"Charge and finish them!" shouted Sarazi and Gai Wafu excitedly. This victory led them to fight with ease and abandon.

The Sam Country Special Forces had always been an invincible presence, perceived as unbeatable and untouchable by Sarazi, Gai Wafu, and others. After this battle, with many enemies slain, the psychological pressure vanished. They were eager to kill more, leading their men, fervently shouting and aggressively charging and attacking.

As they pursued, Luo Zheng noticed the Sam Country Special Forces ahead being harried by Lan Xue. After leaving five men to cover their retreat, ten or so others continued a frantic withdrawal. Lan Xue led a fierce attack, but those covering the rear held a terrain advantage, and they couldn't be easily ousted. Enraged, Luo Zheng led his men to flank from the side.

"Rat-a-tat-tat!" Luo Zheng and his men rushed forward, firing intensely, exposing themselves without caution, charging directly ahead. They had already eliminated five covering Special Forces soldiers earlier, leaving them with no psychological burden. Fearless of death, they stormed forward ferociously.

Such is human psychology; once a person gets accustomed to success in battle, and sees red, fear or caution evaporate, leaving the mind in a blank fervor for aggressive pursuit and assault. Witnessing this, Lan Xue led her men to charge without concealment. Exchanging life-for-life disrupted the rhythm of the five covering Special Forces soldiers. Brave and combat-capable, they were nonetheless overwhelmed by the attack of over two hundred people, losing their ability to effectively retaliate.

Everyone swarmed forward, and the concentrated firepower engulfed the five men. The two teams joined forces. Luo Zheng glanced ahead into the distance, where the bright moon illuminated the earth as if it were daylight. The fleeing Sam Country Special Forces were already nearly a kilometer away. Remembering the mission and their ambushed and fallen brother units, he gritted his teeth and shouted, "Sarazi, Gai Wafu, do you want to avenge our fallen brothers?"

"Yes." Sarazi and Gai Wafu stood up and shouted.

"Then lead your troops with me and chase them down. Don't worry about formations or stragglers—regardless of how many can keep up, pursue them at the fastest speed possible." Luo Zheng shouted.

"Alright," Sarazi and Gai Wafu quickly communicated the orders.

After reuniting with Lan Xue and the others, seeing that everyone was uninjured, Luo Zheng breathed a sigh of relief. He glanced at Snow Leopard and asked, "Are you alright?"

"No problem, don't worry. How could you leave me out of beating down a fallen enemy?" Snow Leopard replied, feigning lightheartedness, puffing out his chest. However, his face was pale and his forehead was covered in cold sweat, clearly indicating that the intense activity had affected his injury.

Time was of the essence. Luo Zheng couldn't care about much else. He said, "Keep up if you can, but don't push if you can't. Let's go; we must intercept this bunch." With that, he charged forward.

Lan Xue and the others followed suit. Sarazi and Gai Wafu, not missing a beat, led their troops in a wild charge. While running, Luo Zheng barked, "Gai Wafu, you're familiar with the terrain. Is there a shortcut to catch up? If there is, send a squad to flank them quickly."

"Understood," Gai Wafu quickly replied, speaking a few loud commands into his radio.

Soon, a squad departed from the main force and began flanking to encircle the front. Luo Zheng sprinted fiercely. If this team were to escape, all efforts would be wasted. They must utterly destroy this unit. Before long, Luo Zheng and the others raced to the forefront. Sarazi and Gai Wafu's men gradually lagged behind, showcasing the difference in capabilities.

The speed of the remaining ten or so Sam Country Special Forces was incredibly fast, completely unmatched by Sarazi and Gai Wafu's forces. Luo Zheng and his team members pursued fiercely, occasionally firing a shot to pressure the enemy and slow their escape, gradually closing the distance between the two sides.

"Not good, three people are covering the rear, be careful, get down!" Lan Xue suddenly shouted urgently, with a touch of anxiety and anger.
