Su Yi, The Pokemon(?) Master (Pokemon X Monster Hunter Fanfic)

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Rotom Phone, Get!

Chairman Rose was clearly a busy man. After a simple lunch together, his secretary, Oleana, unceremoniously urged him to proceed with the next scheduled tasks.

"Apologies, though I'd love to continue hearing about your adventures, Mr. Su Yi, I am truly swamped with work," Chairman Rose said politely.

"No worries, I should be the one thanking you for your help, Chairman Rose," Su Yi replied.

"Then, I'll be taking my leave."

After Chairman Rose left, Leon turned to Su Yi and said, "Chairman Rose has done a lot for Galar. It's thanks to his efforts that Wyndon has become the prosperous Pokémon battle hub it is today."

"Chairman Rose is indeed someone who dedicates himself tirelessly," Su Yi remarked.

Even though he was the main antagonist of the game's storyline.

If Leon was Galar's superstar and spiritual pillar, then Chairman Rose was the architect of Galar's prosperity.

Years ago, Rose had collaborated with Professor Magnolia to develop the Dynamax Band, which allowed Pokémon to Dynamax at will. Using this as a turning point, he transformed Dynamax battles and the Gym Challenge into Galar's signature attractions, making the region world-famous.

It could be said that Galar's current prosperity was largely thanks to this Galar League chairman and president of Macro Cosmos.

And interestingly, in nearly every main Pokémon game, the introduction to the region was always given by the local Pokémon professor.

But in Pokémon Sword and Shield, the one giving the introduction was Chairman Rose—the main antagonist himself.

As for what mistake Chairman Rose eventually made?

Like all previous villains, he was simply too arrogant and too confident in his control over legendary Pokémon, underestimating their true power.

"Chairman, you seem quite interested in that young man," Oleana said as they rode in a Flying Taxi.

Chairman Rose chuckled. "For two reasons."

"First, Leon has taken a liking to him. In fact, Leon is even planning to give that Su Yi fellow a recommendation letter. It's been a long time since I've seen Leon hand one of those out."

"All these years, Leon has remained undefeated. But deep down, he must be longing for a worthy challenger. If that young man has caught his interest, he must have extraordinary potential."

"I trust the Champion's judgment."

"And the second reason?" Oleana asked, puzzled.

Rose smiled. "It's his identity."

Oleana frowned slightly. "Is there something special about him?"

Rose laughed. "No—rather, he has no identity. To be precise, he doesn't exist in any of the League's databases. Furthermore, he possesses at least three Pokémon that are completely absent from the official Pokédex."

"Do you know what that means?"

His eyes gleamed with interest as he continued, "It means he comes from a place we don't yet know about."

"He first appeared on the Isle of Armor. Could that mean there's an undiscovered region near Galar?"

"A new region, new Pokémon—this represents new possibilities and opportunities. Galar is already flourishing, but we've reached a bottleneck. To break through, we might need to explore new paths."

"That's why I told him—I hope he can bring something new."

After speaking at length, Rose then shrugged and laughed. "But ultimately, this is just an idle move. Just something interesting I happened to stumble upon in the midst of my busy schedule."

Oleana praised him, "Chairman, you always have such foresight."

At this moment, Su Yi had no idea that Rose was pondering so much about his origins and background.

But even if he did, he wouldn't care. As long as no one interfered with his journey, other people's speculations didn't matter. He just wanted to enjoy his adventure and travels.

Just as Leon was about to take Su Yi on a tour of Wyndon, an unexpected visitor approached him.

"Woof! Woof!"

A Yamper ran up to Leon, barking as if greeting him.

"Leon, this is—" A stylish and youthful-looking woman walked over.

Leon smiled and introduced, "This is a new friend of mine and also my junior disciple, Su Yi. He has some Pokémon I bet you've never seen before!"

"Oh, and this is Sonia, the granddaughter of Professor Magnolia, Galar's Pokémon Professor."

And also your childhood friend.

Su Yi smiled and said, "Hello."

"Nice to meet you, meow!" Rucao waved its paw.

"What kind of Pokémon is this? It's so cute!" Sonia's attention was instantly drawn to the adorable feline Pokémon. She squatted down and carefully examined Rucao.

"Ahem, since someone's here to see you, you should go and entertain them, Leon. I'll just explore the city with my Pokémon. Walking around with the Champion is bound to attract too many fans and block the streets," Su Yi said with a knowing smile.

"But you're not familiar with the city..." Leon hesitated.

"I'm not a three-year-old kid. Come on, she came all this way to see you," Su Yi waved his hand dismissively and was about to leave.

"Alright then. Here, take this Rotom Phone. It has a built-in Pokédex and some basic functions. My number is in there, so call me if you need anything." Leon handed him a phone with a Rotom design on it.

Beep beep!

The Rotom on the back of the phone opened its eyes.

"Nice to meet you, Roto! By the way, you're going to take me out often, right? I don't want to be stuck in a bag all day, Roto!" The Rotom Phone's voice carried a tone of curiosity and anticipation.

Leon smiled wryly. "Just a heads-up—this Rotom might be a bit too energetic."

Su Yi, however, was intrigued. Taking the Rotom Phone, he said, "No problem! In fact, I like it this way. My name is Su Yi—looking forward to working with you!"

"Leave it to me, Roto!" Rotom cheerfully responded before flying into the side pocket of Su Yi's backpack.

"Thanks, Leon. You've been helping me so much—I almost feel bad about it," Su Yi said, feeling grateful. Every bit of help Leon had given him was invaluable.

"It's nothing. After all, you're my junior disciple," Leon replied with a smile.

"Alright then, I won't keep you two any longer. Enjoy your date!" Su Yi teased before grabbing Rucao and dashing away. No way was he going to be the third wheel.

"Your friend is really interesting," Sonia said with a laugh.

"It's a shame you didn't get to see his Pokémon. They're truly unique," Leon said with a hint of regret.

"There'll be plenty of chances. There's a shop nearby, let's—"

The two of them soon disappeared into the crowd.

"Come on out, everyone!"

Finding a spacious area, Su Yi released his Pokémon.

He held Larvesta in his arms, while Chansey and Kubfu stood on either side of him. Rucao stayed close behind him.

"Lar-vesta!" Larvesta gazed at the bustling streets and the passing crowds. Though a bit timid, it couldn't help but curiously look around.

Kubfu, on the other hand, was wide-eyed, marveling at the lively cityscape.

"Let's go! Today, we're exploring this modern metropolis!" Su Yi, full of excitement, led his adorable Pokémon team toward the bustling city center.
