Chapter 14: Chapter 11 - Marikawa Shizuka, the Cannonball Impact!
Yotsuya Miko was in a great mood today.
Even though she had been startled by a spirit at home this morning and had been harassed by several spirits at the bus stop, asking things like "Can you see me?", her spirits were still high.
After getting off the bus, Miko stood at the station, looking at the map on her phone. Marikawa Shizuka's house was only 500 meters away.
The thought that after today, once she learned the Thunder Spell from her master, she, Yotsuya Miko, would never have to fear those terrifying spirits again filled her with excitement.
"Young lady."
"Can you help me with directions?"
Suddenly, a trembling voice of an old woman came from behind.
Miko didn't think much of it.
"Sure," she replied with a smile, turning around.
But as soon as she saw the "person" behind her, her smile froze.
It was an old woman with gray hair.
She looked normal, except for one thing.
Her feet...
Were floating!!!
The moment Miko saw her, the old woman's kind expression twisted into something ferocius, and her human form expanded into a massive, horrifying spirit.
"You can see me!!!"
This time, the question wasn't a question but a statement of delight.
Miko's eyes widened.
The sun seemed to be blocked out by the enormous spirit in front of her.
Her eyes filled with fear, her body trembled, and her mind went blank.
"Master."
"If I go to Marikawa-sensei's house, maybe Master will be there!"
Thinking this, Miko tried to turn and run, but the sheer terror made her movements sluggish.
The spirit, disguised as an old woman, roared and lunged at her, its gaping maw ready to swallow her whole.
It's over!
Miko instinctively closed her eyes, filled with regret.
She was so close, so close to...
Time passed, but the expected pain of being devoured by the spirit never came.
Instead...
A slightly rough hand gently rested on her head, warmly patting her.
"Don't be afraid. It's okay now."
Hearing the familiar voice, Miko opened her eyes.
Kaito stood in front of her, smiling as he patted her head.
The terrifying spirit was gone.
Even the spirits she had seen wandering in the distance when she got off the bus had disappeared, seemingly scared off by Kaito's presence.
"Master!"
Miko's voice trembled, tears of relief welling up in her eyes.
With a loud "wah," she threw herself into Kaito's arms, hugging his waist tightly.
Despite her recent show of strength, she was still just a high school girl.
Now that she finally had someone to rely on, and after narrowly escaping death, Miko could no longer hold back her fear and sorrow.
She buried her face in his chest and cried for a long, long time before her sobs finally subsided.
"It's okay."
"Master's here now. Everything's fine."
"If you keep crying like this, tomorrow's morning news will be about a high school girl being abandoned by a scoundrel."
Only then did Miko hear the murmurs of the people around her.
"Why is this girl crying so hard?"
"Looks like she got pregnant and was dumped by some guy."
"Ah, young people these days are so reckless. Back in our time..."
Miko's face turned red.
She quickly pulled away from Kaito's embrace, though a sense of emptiness and reluctance lingered in her heart.
Wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes, Miko apologized, "I'm sorry, Master."
"There's nothing to apologize for."
Kaito patted her head.
"Let's go. We'll head to Marikawa's house, and I'll teach you how to cultivate."
The thought of learning to cultivate and no longer fearing spirits made Miko's complicated emotions vanish. She nodded happily.
"Yes!"
She followed Kaito to Marikawa Shizuka's house.
Soon, they arrived and rang the doorbell. The door opened immediately.
Kaito was surprised to see who answered.
"Saeko-senpai?"
The voice came from Miko, who was standing behind Kaito.
The girl looked shocked.
"You know each other?" Kaito asked curiously.
Miko nodded, then shook her head. "I know Saeko-senpai, but she probably doesn't know me."
Saeko Busujima was not only beautiful and had a great figure, but she was also the ace of the kendo club, having won the national high school championship.
Rumored to be the daughter of the prestigious Busujima family, she was the epitome of a perfect woman, someone even other girls couldn't bring themselves to envy.
"I know Yotsuya-san too."
Saeko smiled gently. "The 'flower of the highlands' of the first-year students. I've heard of you."
"What 'flower of the highlands'?"
Miko blushed, feeling flustered. "That title belongs to Suou-san, Yukinoshita-san, and Tohsaka-san. It has nothing to do with me."
"Of course it does."
Kaito chuckled and ruffled Miko's hair again.
"Our Miko is just as good as them."
Miko's face turned even redder.
Unlike the embarrassment she felt when Saeko called her the "flower of the highlands," being praised by Kaito made her inexplicably happy.
"By the way, Saeko, why are you at Marikawa's house?"
"Ah, please come in first."
Saeko stepped aside and fetched slippers for Kaito and Miko.
She even knelt down to help Kaito change his shoes.
Kaito tried to decline, but Saeko insisted.
In the end, Kaito let Saeko serve him.
As he looked down, he could see Saeko's head bowed as she helped him with his shoes.
Kaito couldn't help but notice the sideboob hidden beneath her casual clothes and the perfectly shaped peach-like buttocks that even a mature woman might envy.
While there was no physical pleasure in this act, the psychological satisfaction was something that physical sensations couldn't provide.
Watching Saeko stand up after helping him with his shoes, Kaito suddenly understood why Japan had the tradition of wives kneeling at the door to greet their husbands and help them change shoes.
"Saeko will definitely make an excellent wife in the future."
"I hope to become a good wife too."
Saeko smiled softly. "You can call me Saeko, Master."
Kaito nodded.
Just as Miko finished changing her shoes and stood eagerly behind Kaito, Kaito asked the question Saeko hadn't answered earlier.
"Saeko, why are you here?"
"Because..."
Before Saeko could answer, footsteps came from upstairs.
They looked up to see Marikawa Shizuka appear at the top of the stairs, her body and hair dripping wet.
Clearly, she had been in the shower and hadn't even dried off before coming out.
And not only had she not dried off...
This airheaded school nurse hadn't even wrapped herself in a towel!
Before Saeko or Miko could say anything, Marikawa's eyes lit up at the sight of Kaito.
She spread her arms wide, revealing her ample chest, and cheerfully exclaimed, "Master!"
Then she ran toward Kaito.
But as soon as she stepped onto the stairs, her foot slipped, and she flew through the air, tumbling down toward the ground floor.
"Ah?!"
Kaito watched as a white, blurry mass hurtled toward him.
The precision strike.
The cannonball impact.
Kaito was knocked to the ground without any resistance.
As his vision went dark, only one thought crossed his mind.
"So soft..."
