Chapter 576: The Secret Manual
Lin Shen was a bit puzzled as he flipped through the book's title.
"Phoenix Nirvana, born from death, this must be a work of the Phoenix Clan, right?" Lin Shen glanced at the author's name, Feng 6, and knew by the surname that it definitely belonged to someone from the Phoenix Clan.
Lin Shen felt that the name seemed somewhat familiar; he must have seen it somewhere. After thinking it through, he realized that this Feng 6 was currently ranked first at the Immortal Level on the racial leaderboard.
"Such a figure's method of Nirvana is worth a careful read." Lin Shen flipped through the book again to roughly understand what the method written about was.
In fact, it was similar to general methods, all of which utilize the Power of Nirvana at the Nirvana Level to transform oneself and achieve rebirth through Nirvana.
What was different was that Feng 6's method involved undergoing Dual Nirvana during the process of Nirvana. Feng 6 called this the Dual Nirvana or the Internal and External Dual Nirvana.
It meant using a Nirvana Egg internally while simultaneously undergoing transformation through a Super-Base Mutation site externally to achieve a combination of dual forces of Nirvana in one go.
To accomplish this Dual Nirvana, several conditions were necessary.
Of course, the Nirvana Egg goes without saying, it is a must-have. An ordinary Base Mutation site won't do; it won't meet the needs of Dual Nirvana. Only a Nirvana Level Base Mutation site can fulfill the requirements for Dual Nirvana.
These weren't too hard to achieve, but the most difficult part was that typical Ascenders simply couldn't endure the torment of the internal and external powers of Dual Nirvana. Only those with the Innate Skill of Phoenix Nirvana from the Pure Blood Phoenix Clan could complete the Dual Nirvana.
Upon reaching this point, Lin Shen already knew it was hopeless; only the Phoenix Clan possessed such talents, and moreover, it had to be the Pure Blood Phoenix Clan — this method was utterly unusable by other races.
There were other conditions mentioned later, such as having the Nirvana Egg and the Nirvana Land be of the same Attribute; the two couldn't have conflicting properties, and one must enter the Nirvana Land before using the Nirvana Egg.
Regardless, this method had many restrictions, but in the end, it didn't describe what the benefits of undergoing Dual Nirvana actually were.
The various dangers and consequences, however, were detailed very clearly: for instance, Dual Nirvana might directly turn a person into a non-human, a Nirvana Creature without consciousness.
Or one's body might undergo complete Nirvanization, never to recover to a flesh and blood form.
The requirement for the Phoenix Nirvana talent was to avoid these issues to a certain extent.
As Lin Shen read on, a thought suddenly hit him.
His Innate Skill of Super-Base Form was actually an ability for complete self Base Mutation. If he could complete Nirvana while in a Super-Base Form and then cancel the Super-Base State, might that solve the problem of failing to recover one's human form after Nirvana?
Lin Shen felt there was certainly feasibility in this idea, but whether it would actually work, he could only find out through experimentation.
The problem was, aside from himself, no one else had the Innate Skill for Super-Base State; he couldn't even find a test subject if he wanted to.
After setting down Feng 6's work, Lin Shen began to look through some information about Nirvana Land. If there was an opportunity to use the Dual Nirvana method, he would need Nirvana Land as an aid; previously he had been looking at Ascension Land.
Nirvana Land was much more dangerous, as it nurtured Nirvana Creatures. If one wanted to undergo Nirvana there, it would be best to first clear out the Nirvana Creatures.
If one couldn't eliminate the Nirvana Creatures, the risk would be far too great.
Ascenders lack the power to clear out Nirvana Creatures, and ultimately, it's still necessary to rely on the backing of powerful forces to possibly accomplish Nirvana using Nirvana Land.
More than ten hours had passed without notice, and Lin Shen had never before studied books so diligently.
However, the more he read, the more he forgot; aside from some important information, he hardly remembered anything.
"Room... What kind of books are kept here?" Lin Shen wondered with some confusion as he pushed the door open to look inside.
After looking at the introductions and categorizations on the bookshelf, Lin Shen knew what kind of books were stored here.
The books here were those that, for some reason, had unsuccessful research, were abandoned mid-study, but it was still not determined whether they were without value.
In other words, all the Evolution Skills and techniques here were unfinished products, which might be useful or useless, might be somewhat useful, or might even be lethal if practiced.
In short, they were things that it seemed a pity to discard but that no one could use unless someone was willing to continue the research and determine their value.
"That these unfinished studies are stored here proves that these studies are no ordinary matters; even if not useful to oneself, they cannot be allowed to fall into enemy hands, so they are collected here," Lin Shen mused as he picked up a book to browse through it casually.
Indeed, it was an incomplete study. The book's focus was on the Celestial Race's Heavenly Heart Skill, seeking to solve the issue of the skill's insufficient strength.
Unfortunately, the problem remained unsolved until the end of the book, and the content stopped there.
After looking through a few more books, the results were the same.
The books here, labeled as such, were actually more akin to notebooks and research reports, and even many were drafts with scribbles and amendments all over; whether they could be understood was questionable.
Seeing that there was really nothing of value here, Lin Shen returned the book in his hands to the shelf and prepared to leave the room and return to the Skill Pavilion to see if he could find the technique used by Dou Shi Buddha.
Even if he couldn't find that, he might find a skill suitable for himself to practice upon his return.
Having placed the book back on the shelf, Lin Shen's gaze inadvertently caught sight of a book titled "Peacock Immortal's Light," a few books away.
Lin Shen still remembered Kong Chuan's ability to immobilize all things with its light and thought, "This Peacock Immortal's Light couldn't be studying that very light, could it?"
After flipping through it, he discovered that this Peacock Immortal's Light was not related to Kong Chuan's ability at all but was instead studying how to resist the deadly light.
"Resisting the deadly light is a problem only for those at the Immortal Level, which is of little use to the average person; 99.999% of people in the universe will never reach the Immortal Level," Lin Shen read on regardless. His goal was definitely the Immortal Level, so it wouldn't hurt to look ahead.
After a while, Lin Shen's expression became quite lively. Although the book was about the study of the deadly light, its name was Peacock Immortal's Light, which was not chosen at random.
According to the research within, one only needed a member of the Peacock Clan with the innate Heavenly Eye Immortal Light, and at the moment the deadly light descends, using the Heavenly Eye Immortal Light to draw away the deadly light, would allow the Immortal under calamity to safely overcome this dire fate, while the Peacock Clan member who draws away the deadly light would surely perish.
However, this method was still under research and it was not yet known whether the Heavenly Eye Immortal Light could actually draw away the deadly light.
The reason the research hadn't succeeded wasn't due to problems in the study, but because members of the Peacock Clan with the Heavenly Eye Immortal Light were too rare, and there were simply not enough subjects for experimentation.
