Supergirl Defender Of Love

Chapter 29: Kara Is A Waifu Not Stupid

Kara walked beside Rogue as they neared the gates of Xavier's School, taking in the towering estate with mild curiosity. It was a pretty place, sure, but compared to the alien landscapes she'd seen, it was… quaint. "So this is your school, huh?" she asked, glancing at Rogue.

Rogue, ever the actress, let out a small, hesitant sigh and nodded. "Yeah. If you can call it that."

Natasha, walking slightly ahead, rolled her eyes. Gwen remained unimpressed. Wanda, on the other hand, was already enjoying the performance Rogue was putting on.

Kara turned back to Rogue. "What do you mean? It's a school for mutants, right? Seems like a cool setup."

Rogue bit her lip, hesitating just long enough to make it look unintentional. "I mean… yeah, technically. But it ain't exactly the warm, welcoming place you'd think it is."

Gwen muttered under her breath. "Oh boy, here we go…"

Kara frowned, her attention fully on Rogue now. "They don't treat you well?"

Rogue sighed, eyes downcast, her voice soft, controlled. "It's just… I never really fit in here. People… tolerate me, but no one really wants me around. They think I'm too dangerous. Like I don't belong."

Kara narrowed her eyes. "That's ridiculous. You have powers, just like them. What's their problem?"

Rogue gave her best sad, knowing smile. "Ah, well, y'know how it is. Elders always know best." She cast a meaningful look toward the mansion. "Gotta keep the disciple in check, after all."

Natasha barely resisted the urge to facepalm. Gwen groaned. Wanda smirked.

Kara, entirely missing the sarcasm, nodded. "Yeah, I get that. Authority figures can be real pains."

Rogue suppressed a smirk, but before she could say more, her eyes flickered downward, catching sight of Kara's jeans hugging every curve of her body. The snug denim emphasized her absurdly toned thighs and that perfect, otherworldly ass. Rogue had met a lot of beautiful women—hell, she was a beautiful woman—but Kara was something else.

Rogue wasn't the only one noticing either. Natasha and Gwen, despite themselves, had both stolen more than a few glances. Wanda wasn't even trying to hide the fact that she was openly admiring Kara.

But Kara?

Completely oblivious.

Rogue cleared her throat, forcing her eyes away before anyone caught her staring. She was already obsessed—she didn't need to make it obvious.

Kara, unaware of the silent battle of hormones going on behind her, stretched her arms as she continued looking at the school. "So, what's the deal? Do I have to sign in or something? Show my ID? Or are they just gonna let me waltz in?"

Natasha smirked. "I think they'll notice us before we get a chance to knock."

She was right.

The front doors opened before they even reached them, revealing Professor Charles Xavier. He was calm, composed, his eyes immediately landing on Rogue before shifting to Kara.

"Welcome back, Rogue," he said smoothly, his tone warm yet edged with something deeper. His gaze flickered over to Kara, and his fingers subtly tightened against the armrest of his wheelchair. "And you must be Kara."

Kara stepped forward, offering a casual grin. "That's me. Gotta say, nice place you got here. Fancy. Very private school vibes."

Xavier studied her with polite interest, though his expression remained neutral. "It serves its purpose." His gaze lingered on her, his expression unreadable. Then, almost imperceptibly, his brow furrowed.

He reached out with his mind.

And hit nothing.

Xavier's body stiffened for half a second before he forced himself to relax. It wasn't a wall, not a resistance—there was simply nothing there. He couldn't read her mind because, as far as his telepathy was concerned, there was no mind to read.

That had never happened before.

"Interesting," he murmured.

Kara grinned. "I know, right?"

Natasha, standing just behind Kara, caught the flicker of unease in Xavier's eyes. Good. He was already unsettled.

Rogue, watching the interaction, felt her lips curl slightly. Perfect.

Kara, still entirely unbothered, stretched again, causing her shirt to rise slightly. Wanda didn't even try to hide the fact that her eyes lingered on Kara's toned stomach. Gwen exhaled sharply through her nose. Natasha, the only one keeping her composure, simply crossed her arms.

Rogue, enjoying every second of this, placed a hand on Kara's arm. Another pulse of energy. Another effortless surge of power. "Should we head inside?"

Xavier nodded, his composure returning. "Yes. I believe we have much to discuss."

As they stepped through the doors, Rogue gave one last glance at Kara's back, her mind already weaving plans.

Kara had fallen for her act.

Xavier had underestimated her.

And soon?

This entire place would be hers to manipulate as she saw fit and to dedicate to the glory of her obsession with Kara.
