Superman in Marvel: Multiverse Ascendant

Chapter 31: Chapter 30: Prediction Experiment

Leon got rid of a bunch of satellites and returned home at almost 1 p.m. Los Angeles time.

He simply made a few fried eggs and pasta for lunch.

As for Tony, just as he had said earlier, he was still engaged in a battle with the Ten Rings until dinner time and had not yet returned home.

So naturally, after testing the thrust once in the basement, Leon flew into space and began basking in the sun.

He and Tony had developed an experimental plan to estimate the upper limit of Kryptonian bloodline growth.

The process was straightforward: each day, Leon would test his thrust before heading into space to absorb solar energy, then test it again afterward. By repeating this process for a month while maintaining the same exposure duration, they could use J.A.R.V.I.S. to construct a predictive model.

This would help estimate the potential limits of Leon's physical enhancements.

Of course, Leon readily agreed to such a simple experiment.

After all, sunbathing in space had always been his favorite part of the day, his happiest moment.

Facing the sun in space was like soaking in a hot spring, the sound of his blood circulation resembling a tranquil stream. At that moment, he could feel his strength growing rapidly.

The speed was so intense, akin to fish surging through a thawing river in spring.

Based on recent experience, the rate of his power growth was accelerating.

Leon understood that if normal physical training followed a curve that peaked and then declined, he was currently in the rising phase.

From the perspective of Kryptonian development, this period could be defined as a "weak phase"—a stage of rapid empowerment.

Measured numerically, even after just a few more days of sun exposure, Leon's full-body thrust had already reached a staggering 400,000 tons.

This rapid enhancement made every second in the sun feel euphoric, like an overwhelming surge of dopamine.

The sensation was akin to a continuous wave of exhilaration, a cycle of bliss that never ceased.

Beep!

Just as he was reveling in this feeling, J.A.R.V.I.S.' voice interrupted: "Master Leon, Mr. Stark is being pursued by an aerial squadron on his return. Do you wish to assist him?"

"Tony's being chased? Where is he?" Leon asked, startled.

"The midsection of the West Coast mountain range."

"Huh? Isn't that where I got chased by reconnaissance planes last time… I see."

Leon smirked with amusement.

Finally, they had reached the familiar part of the movie.

Tony must have entered California from the eastern Pacific, immediately triggering the military's airspace surveillance satellites.

"Master Leon, Mr. Stark's situation is not looking good. Here is the live footage."

J.A.R.V.I.S. projected a video feed in front of Leon.

The display showed Tony's first-person perspective—fighter jets descending from thick clouds. More than a dozen of them, enough to wage a small battle.

Leon could hear Tony mutter, "Shit," before his view spun 180 degrees as he attempted to flee.

The next moment, bullets streaked past him in rapid succession.

The screen shook violently—Tony had clearly taken a direct hit from an aircraft's machine gun volley.

"Looks like the Air Force is about to give him a serious lesson," Leon raised an eyebrow, though he wasn't too worried.

"I recall the Mark III's top speed exceeds Mach 8. Tony should be able to escape easily, right?"

He stroked his chin. "Or is he being cocky and trying to fight them off?"

"That's not the case, Master Leon," J.A.R.V.I.S. clarified. "Mr. Stark's physical condition limits how long he can sustain maximum velocity."

"If he exceeds a certain duration, the G-forces could cause his heart to fail."

"Under normal conditions, the Mark III cruises at around Mach 2, but even this gradually drains Mr. Stark's stamina."

Leon chuckled. "So after dealing with the Ten Rings, he's too exhausted to accelerate, huh?"

"You are correct," J.A.R.V.I.S. confirmed.

"Then why isn't he calling for help?"

"Mr. Stark only instructed me to relay this video to you."

"I get it. Stubborn as ever."

Leon rolled his shoulders. "Well, whether he asks for help or not, I can't just leave him hanging. He is my dear friend, after all. Don't you agree, J.A.R.V.I.S.?"

"Indeed, Master Leon. Legally speaking, you and Mr. Stark are currently the closest individuals to each other."

J.A.R.V.I.S. completely missed the sarcasm in Leon's words.

Leon smirked. "Prepare the Mark II. I'm going to give Tony a lesson."

"Why not wear your Kryptonian suit? The armor only restricts your strength."

"It's more dramatic to wear the armor for this." Leon grinned.

He had been waiting for an opportunity to mess with Tony. Now, it had arrived.

Leon's gaze swept across the mountain range.

Tony was weaving between missile locks like a petrel navigating a storm.

His once pristine golden-red armor was now covered in scorch marks, bullet holes, and deep scratches—like a kebab fresh off the grill.

"Look at Uncle Tony, getting bullied so badly," Leon quipped as he strode toward the garage.

"No time to mourn for him. It's time for the great hero Leon to save the day."

Meanwhile, at a military command center.

The high-ranking officials who had convened earlier to discuss the so-called "Afghan Superman" had gathered once again.

All eyes were fixed on the satellite feed projected before them.

The screen displayed a battle unfolding: the heavily damaged golden-red suit dodging missile barrages while a blue-red suit provided cover.

"They're not Superman," Rhodey assessed. "They're just two humanoid exoskeletons. A true Kryptonian wouldn't even struggle against our flight squadron."
