Chapter 297: Major Family Events III: Night of the Witch (Part 12)
Crimson sky.
The roaring engine sound.
Birds flying under the blood-red canopy.
At the front of the train, Xizi Yue slowly opened her eyes, her gaze calmly fixed on the Doll Witch.
She raised her hand, took out a magic card from the fluttering magic book, and pinched it between her fingertips. The next moment, accompanied by the shattering of the card, twelve jade giants slowly rose above the train, encircling her like statues.
Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig.
The Twelve Zodiac, lifelike.
In the ink-black pupils of the Jade Zodiac beasts reflected the figure directly ahead: the Doll Witch clad in a white bark-like material akin to scales, with white hair and white eyes, like someone who had stepped out from another world.
"It's no use." The Doll Witch spoke emotionlessly, "The strongest witch in the world—the Envious Witch—is about to be born. Whatever you do now is just a futile struggle... Xizi Yue, you will meet a most tragic death."
Xizi Yue did not respond.
The very next moment, the thread of fate at the bottom of the Witches' Night vibrated sharply, and three giant Dolls that were wandering around the city were pulled upwards by the lines, rushing to the front of the Doll Witch. They surged up like a reverse tide, roaring in their approach.
....
....
Meanwhile.
From atop the Time-Space Train, Lilai, England's strongest magical girl, glanced at the War Witch standing in the corner on the west side of Witches' Night and stepped toward the edge of the top of the train. The moment her feet touched the air, a solid, rough layer of ice formed under her shoes.
Then, like a figure skater, she swept down the icy slope with a graceful, composed gesture, carving a sweeping arc of ice blue.
The ice ramp extended endlessly forward beneath her feet, like a bridge connecting to the platform of Witches' Night, and Lilai glided along the ice to the stage of Witches' Night before gently descending from above.
Then the layers of ice behind her continuously shattered, turning into a shower of ice fragments falling into the city.
With one hand on her hip, she lifted her icy blue eyes from below her golden locks, gazing at the War Witch in her tattered Prussian military outfit.
The War Witch casually brushed her red hair, a playful smile on her lips.
"Where's your weapon?" Lilai enunciated each word.
"This is my weapon."
With the playful words falling, four dark red Floating Gun Turrets slowly rose behind the War Witch, their design imbued with a metallic texture, their dark barrels reflecting the blood-red sunlight, aiming at Lilai amidst the alarmed cries of the birds.
...
...
On the eastern side of Witches' Night.
Udina took a deep breath, raised her right hand armored in metal gauntlets, and lifted a giant sword-shaped magic blade; surging light burst forth from the hilt, like perpetual daylight.
Opposite her, the Crown Dream Witch yawned, wearing a round sleeping cap and nightgown, with blue wavy hair.
She raised her hand to cover her mouth, while behind her, a giant nightmare slowly rose.
This nightmare had absorbed countless dream bubbles, feeding on the dreams of the tormented, inflating to over twenty meters tall. Its shadowy form shimmered, stirring up a howling gale.
The Crown Dream Witch said languidly:
"Don't worry, all three of you together wouldn't stand a chance against my nightmare. I suggest you stop struggling."
Before she could finish speaking, Udina had already raised her left hand, shattering the dark red card she had been clutching in her palm, her origin card—[Holy Sword Burst].
"Ha... going all out from the start?" The Crown Dream Witch was briefly stunned, a bit taken aback, "This isn't quite like the fight scenes in cartoons. Can't you play along with my nightmare for a bit and let it swallow some more dreams before you unleash your big move?"
As she was lost in thought, the blade of light in Udina's hand swelled a hundredfold, a thousandfold, like a tower of auroras reaching into the sky, almost piercing the blood-red canopy and opening up a wedge of azure.
The next instant, Udina swung down the dazzling sword as bright as day.
As the blade fell.
In the silence that followed, like a powerful tornado sweeping past, the clouds within a radius of several hundred meters were obliterated, vanished into nothingness, and the next moment, the overwhelming light and shadow rippled above the stage of Witches' Night, dyeing the blood-red sky purely, utterly white.
Subsequently, streams of magic power flowed violently in all directions like sharp blades tearing through the wind.
"Zodiac, Pig."
In the distance, Xizi Yue remained unruffled. She used the pig among the Jade Zodiac as a shield to block the blast's aftermath.
Meanwhile, the Doll Witch stood on the shoulder of one of the giant Dolls, not needing any extra effort; the huge head was enough to block the raging magic power streams pouring down like a tempest, although the mere aftermath was nearly enough to crush it.
Xizi Yue glanced sideways and saw the nightmare struggling to survive, its body flickering in mid-air like the flame of a candle about to extinguish, yet it still curled its mouth corners, guarding in front of the Crown Dream Witch.
"Boom—!"
Another disturbance arose, this time from the west side of Witches' Night.
Lilai skated on the ice in mid-air while bending forward to dodge the simultaneous firing of the four gun turrets controlled by the War Witch.
Her golden hair danced in the wind, her eyes turned cold, and as she crushed a card in her right hand, suddenly, thousands of ice pillars appeared behind her. The gigantic pillars paused momentarily in mid-air, then, carrying the breath of the far north, they surged brutally toward the War Witch.
