Chapter 575: Chapter 575: A Prophecy Fulfilled
Especially if the flaws of these vampires and werewolves could truly be overcome, they could undoubtedly become a solid shield and valuable support for the Avengers. Whether it's the tough hides of the werewolves or the agile flight of the vampires, these attributes could be very useful in dealing with many situations. Of course, Tony Stark was referring to general extraordinary events.
To be honest, the Avengers really needed more personnel, not just those with extraordinary powers but people in various fields. When Tony Stark initially formed the Avengers, he only thought about recruiting powerful individuals like Robert to handle difficult extraordinary events and prevent too many ordinary people from being affected by them.
At that time, Tony Stark believed that with the connections and financial support of himself and Steve, maintaining the operation of the Avengers would be no problem at all. However, Stark did not foresee that when a team turns into an organization, and an organization into an institution, and an institution into a significant force, the responsibilities would multiply exponentially. Even with Jarvis's help and Stark's ability to create numerous robots to handle various tasks, it still felt overwhelming.
Especially as the Avengers came under the scrutiny of more people and forces, it became increasingly challenging to operate in the background, silently resolving extraordinary events without considering others' opinions.
As a result, Steve Rogers was running around to optimize the current state of the Avengers, and Tony Stark was coming up with all kinds of solutions to do the same. They had no time to rest even after leaving the mirror space, continuously dealing with one issue after another, including the vampire and werewolf incidents, while also planning for the Avengers' future.
It was because of these ongoing matters that Peter Parker and others had no good solutions, prompting Stark to send them off to rest and recuperate. After all, the battle in the mirror space against that dimensional powerhouse was no easy feat, even with many Avengers working together.
Meanwhile, after leaving, Robert didn't return to training. Although the Dark Dimension incident ended disappointingly with Grant not providing further satisfaction, the prolonged battles were enjoyable for Robert, making him want to relax a bit.
Robert visited Kara's campus, strolling around with her like two university students, blending in seamlessly. Of course, Kara was indeed a university student, while Robert had barely graduated from high school.
During his time on campus, Robert didn't encounter any trouble. Despite Kara's popularity, Robert's imposing presence kept potential troublemakers at bay. Moreover, Kara, Lorna, and others were already known as a tough group in the campus, with Pietro disciplining many who dared to bother them without even using his super speed to avoid drawing too much attention.
This being one of the top universities in America, there wasn't anyone extreme enough to risk their future by confronting Pietro, making Kara and her friends' campus life relatively easy. However, this ease was limited to daily life, not academics, especially for Pietro and Johnny Storm.
For Kara, if she wanted, academic knowledge was not a challenge at all, something Lorna and Susan Storm could never match despite their efforts. However, Kara controlled her scores to avoid standing out too much.
Peter Parker and Barry Allen were also considered geniuses. Although not on par with Tony Stark, they had no trouble completing their university studies and excelling further.
But Pietro and Johnny Storm had a harder time. Their academic lives were challenging, especially since they often had to deal with extraordinary events, leaving them short on time for studies, making learning even more difficult.
Pietro was slightly better off due to his super speed, which also quickened his mental processes. Though not a genius, he was still above average in intelligence. Johnny Storm, however, was a pure ordinary person in terms of intellect, struggling significantly in his studies.
Johnny's chosen major was nuclear physics, thinking it might enlighten him about his flame powers, considering flames' ultimate form might be like a star undergoing nuclear reactions. But nuclear physics proved far more difficult than he anticipated, often feeling like he was listening to a foreign language.
Despite following a professor specializing in artificial sun research to improve his learning, Johnny couldn't keep up with the professor's pace and was not well-regarded by him.
"Why does he look so down?" Robert asked, seeing Johnny Storm uninterested in his food and looking bitter, while unceremoniously taking Johnny's food. After all, food shouldn't be wasted.
"He's feeling pretty down..." Peter Parker, aware of the situation, teased.
"Really? His aura seems fine. Is it from the battle in the mirror space?" Robert asked, puzzled by Johnny's seemingly healthy appearance.
"No, it's a mental wound," Barry Allen chuckled.
"Mental wound? Heartbroken? Didn't you plan to follow Tony's playboy lifestyle? Heartbroken?" Robert couldn't imagine it was about studies, as studying didn't seem to exist in his world, especially since Kara never mentioned it in their school anecdotes.
"Why didn't I drop out of high school like you and just become an Avenger? Would've saved a lot of trouble," Johnny sighed, looking at Robert with a mix of envy and regret.
"Don't even think about it!" Susan Storm smacked Johnny's head, reminding him, "Our parents didn't abandon us. If you dared not to go to college, you'd spend the rest of your life in a freezer."
"I was just saying, no need to be so strict!" Johnny replied, his mouth twitching at the threat.
"Is college really that hard?" Robert looked around, seeing no one else sharing Johnny's plight, unable to understand his feelings.
After all, Robert hadn't attended college in this world, and in the Dragon Ball world, he never went to school. On Earth, he wasn't even of college age. He remembered the saying, "College is easy once you get there," but didn't buy into it.
"Ugh! My professor roasted me again today, called me a useless pile of crap. Pietro, haven't you experienced this?" Johnny turned to Pietro, seeking empathy.
"Sorry, while I'm not top-notch, my professor and I get along well. At least he doesn't give me a hard time or speak harshly..." Pietro shrugged, laughing at Johnny's plight.
"Oh, someone save me! Why is it that I saved so many people, yet no one can save me?" Johnny dramatically lamented, drawing attention from their picnic spot.
Robert, seeing Johnny's academic distress, felt sympathy but had no solutions. Studying wasn't his forte, and his adoptive parents understood, unlike the Storms, who insisted Johnny attend college.
"How about you ask Tony for help? He seems pretty gifted in academics..." Robert suggested, finishing his meal.
"No way!" Johnny quickly declined, saying, "If I asked Tony, he'd mock me forever. Plus, learning isn't something he can just transfer to my brain, no matter how smart he is."
"Then I can't help you. Can't exactly go kill your professor, right?" Robert shrugged, sympathizing but unable to assist further.
"Of course not! I'm struggling, but not that desperate..." Johnny replied, but was cut off by another hit from Susan.
"Stop hitting me! I'm dumb enough already. You hitting me makes it worse!" Johnny complained. "I think I'm dumb because of you. We have the same parents, yet you're so smart. Why am I so different?"
"Maybe it's a genetic mutation..." Robert joked, but then his expression changed, looking towards the campus. He sensed a powerful energy wave with no detectable presence, similar to Tony Stark's arc reactor but much more violent.
"What's wrong?" Kara, noticing Robert's change, followed his gaze, her face also changing. "Oh no! It's going to explode! That seems to be Johnny's professor..."
