Chapter 108: Reaction to sugar music video II
Jason sat in front of the screen as the video began playing. After Ethan's introduction, the footage showed him entering a bus with Grace, one of the girls.
"Wait, what bus is that? It's not his tour bus," Grace remarked, curiosity evident in her tone.
Jason leaned back casually and replied, "It's his tour band's bus."
"Oh," Grace said, nodding as if the mystery had just been solved.
Lily, sitting nearby, turned to Jason with an amused look. "You really do know your Ethan Jones, don't you?"
Amanda, who was lounging at the back, leaned forward to drape her arm around Jason's shoulders from behind. With a teasing grin, she added, "I told you—he's as much of a fan as the rest of us."
Jason smiled to himself, thinking, Well, those hours of reading 'How Well Do You Know Ethan Jones?' by Bella T definitely paid off.
The video continued, now showing a shaky camera angle as the group appeared to hide behind a curtain. Ethan, grinning at the camera, raised a finger to his lips in a playful shush gesture.
As the video continued, Ethan began singing. The curtain was pulled away, revealing him to the wedding guests. At first, they stood frozen, staring in disbelief. Then, after a moment, one of them seemed to recognize who was singing. A scream erupted, and the bride even collapsed in shock.
The video shifted to a montage of clips from different weddings. Jason, who had always dreamed of becoming a director, analyzed the footage closely. He noticed that the camera work was shaky and lacked professional polish in some parts. Yet, this imperfection added a raw, authentic charm to the video. Among all the videos he had seen, this one quickly became his favorite. He loved watching people's genuine reactions as they realized who was singing.
I don't think I could ever freak out like that over a person, Jason thought.
Just then, Amanda's hand brushed against his as she spoke animatedly. Jason glanced at her and smirked inwardly, Well, that doesn't count—she's an angel.
While Jason was lost in thoughts about how he might have shot the video differently, the girls were chatting excitedly.
"OMG, that was so awesome!" Grace exclaimed. "Imagine having The Ethan Jones singing at your wedding!"
Lily chimed in, "And can you imagine not realizing it was him the moment you saw him? Like, are you kidding me?" She sounded genuinely annoyed at the thought of people having the privilege of meeting Ethan but failing to recognize him immediately.
Jason, who had been lost in thought, rejoined the conversation. "Well, you can't blame them. They probably didn't expect a pop star to show up at their wedding."
Lily turned to Jason with a look that could only be described as incredulous, as if he'd just said the most ridiculous thing ever. Amanda nodded in agreement with Lily. "No, Lily's right. How could they not know? There's literally one person in the world with a voice like that! They should've known. Plus, who else looks that good?"
Seeing that Amanda was backing Lily up, Jason sheepishly smiled and said, "Yeah, I guess you're right."
Lily glanced at him with a smirk and muttered under her breath, "Simp."
Amanda, catching the comment, turned to Lily. "Eh? What's that?"
Lily quickly flashed an innocent smile. "Oh, nothing! I was just going to ask if you'd join us this weekend. My brother agreed to take me."
Amanda looked shocked. "Really? David agreed?"
"Yeah," Lily replied with a grin. "My mom told him that if he doesn't take me, she won't help him pack for college."
Chloe, who had been quiet until now, teased, "Aww, so not only do you guys get to go to the concert, but you'll also get a ride from Lily's hot brother?"
"Hey!" Lily protested, though her cheeks reddened slightly.
Amanda burst into laughter. "Well, you'll get to see him in Illinois, right? For now, Lily, I'll take you up on your offer."
Jason, who had been standing off to the side and observing the girls' excited chatter, finally raised his hand like a student in a classroom. "Uh, Amanda, I thought we were going together?"
Amanda froze for a second, her eyes wide. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I forgot! Oh no, what am I gonna do now?" She paced dramatically for a moment before a sudden idea struck her. "Wait! Can't you just follow us?"
Both Jason and Lily exclaimed at the same time, "What?"
They turned to look at each other, confusion mirrored on their faces. Before Jason could respond, Lily turned back to Amanda, who quickly grabbed her by the arm and pulled her aside, leaving Jason and Grace alone.
Grace, who had been scrolling through her phone the entire time, barely looked up when Jason glanced her way. She lowered her phone slightly, gave him a cold look, and said flatly, "Don't." Then she went right back to her phone.
Jason sighed and turned away, unsure what had just happened.
After a while, Amanda and Lily returned, Amanda beaming as she approached. "Jason, you can follow us," she said brightly.
Jason hesitated, unsure, until Amanda gently touched his shoulder and added, "Please, Jason, come. It'll be fun."
Looking into her sparkling green eyes, Jason found himself nodding absentmindedly.
Amanda clapped her hands excitedly. "That's great!" she shouted.
Lily rolled her eyes and muttered, "Well, you asked for it."
Grace, who had been quiet until now, suddenly screamed, startling everyone. The group turned to her, wide-eyed.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Amanda asked, concern lacing her voice.
Grace, clutching her phone, exclaimed, "Ethan is in Texas already!"
The other two girls joined in with excited screams of their own, their voices filling the room.
Amidst the chaos, a gruff voice called out nearby, startling them into silence.
"Who is that?" the voice barked.
The three girls froze, their faces pale, while Jason stood awkwardly. Grace leaned closer and whispered, "Shit. It's Belford."
"What are we going to do now?" Jason asked, his voice trembling with fear. He'd never been caught skipping class before. "Seriously, what are we gonna do?"
The three girls went quiet, exchanging glances before turning to Jason. Slowly, wicked grins spread across their faces.
Jason, thoroughly confused, blinked and asked, "What?"
Meanwhile, Belford Tucker, the school principal, was patrolling the hallways. He stopped abruptly when he heard what he thought was a girlish scream coming from a hidden corner. Probably those girls again, he thought, shaking his head as he made his way toward the sound. But as he rounded the corner, someone stepped out, catching him off guard.
"Mr. Hill?" Belford said, startled to see one of his best students. "What are you doing over here? You do realize classes have started, right?"
Jason nodded quickly, his mind racing for an excuse. "Uh, sorry, sir. My stomach's been acting up. I was on my way to the nurse, but I stopped here to rest for a bit."
Belford frowned, unconvinced. "Hmm. I see. But I heard a girl scream just now. Are you sure you're telling me the truth, Jason?" His tone turned stern.
Jason stammered, "Y-Yes, sir. That was… uh, me. I screamed. I saw a cockroach over there. I get a little jumpy around bugs."
Belford squinted, clearly skeptical, before humming thoughtfully. "If that's the case, then there should be no problem if I take a look around, right?"
Jason's eyes widened. "Pardon?"
"I said, let me check," Belford repeated, already moving toward the corner.
Panicking, Jason scrambled to block his path. "No, sir, really, it's nothing! There's no need to—"
But Belford brushed past him and peered into the hiding spot. Jensen went there shouting "sir i can explain but To Jason's shock, it was completely empty.
"Hmm," Belford said, turning back to Jason. "So, what exactly do you want to explain, Mr. Hill?"
Jason gulped and forced a nervous smile. "I, uh… I just didn't want you to step in there. I, uh… threw up a little."
Belford grimaced, stepping back immediately. "Very well, Mr. Hill. Let's get you to the nurse's office," he said, leading a visibly relieved but faking-it Jason away.
As they walked, Jason glanced back at the hiding spot, wondering where the girls had gone. For a moment, he saw nothing, but then his eyes caught movement in the far hallway. There they were, slipping out through another exit.
Jason's eyes widened in disbelief. So they knew a way out this whole time? he thought.
Before he could feel any resentment, his gaze locked with Amanda's. She flashed him a quick smile, and all the anger he hadn't even formed melted away. He found himself smiling back, shaking his head slightly at the whole ridiculous situation.
P.S. I found my phone 😂. Find my phone for the win 😂😂! Happy new month guys
