Surprise! I've Transmigrated Again

Chapter 170: Chapter 170 ⤞ Time to Go

"Beatrice, throw away the Book! Cast aside everything — your mission, your duties, and 'that person' too! Don't think about anything else — just follow your heart and make the choice that comes from your own will!"

"Yes! Betty is no longer bound. Betty has made her choice and found a new pillar of support."

The bound Great Spirit was finally liberated, and with gratitude and joy, the golden-haired drill-styled little girl called out the name of her chosen contractor.

"Adam."

"..."

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Finding her contractor silent, she grew uneasy.

She didn't know if she had done something wrong. Though she had lived for a long time, she was still not mature and struggled to understand human relationships.

"No, it's nothing. I'm sorry for worrying you." While comforting the small girl in his arms, Adam seemed lost in thought, "I was just thinking about something."

"What is it?"

"I just realized that since I returned to this mansion, Beatrice hasn't called my name. Even though we were so close before, why did we become distant after I came back?"

"You...! This and that are different! Betty, Betty...!"

"There, there, don't get excited. I know, Beatrice, I know." Seeing her trying anxiously to explain, Adam gently pinched her cheeks.

The little girl closed her eyes and let her contractor caress her. No words were needed; they simply needed to enjoy this brief moment of warmth.

Just as the two were about to spend a little more time together, there was a knock at the door.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

It was urgent and forceful.

"Adam! Aren't you done yet? Something feels off — my heart is racing!" Subaru called out these puzzling words.

But Adam couldn't help paying attention.

Because this kid always had superhuman intuition about strange things. And it always proved true!

Nothing could be done about it. Everything else would have to wait until they reached the Sanctuary.

"Let's go, Beatrice! To the Sanctuary, to meet the Witch of Greed, to make our final break!"

"Yes! It's time to say goodbye to these 400 years of waiting." Beatrice jumped down from the large chair, reached out her small hand to him, and asked, "Adam, Betty has chosen you. Will Adam hold Betty's hand and never let go no matter what happens, never abandon Betty no matter what the future holds?"

"Yes, I swear I will never let go, my Only One." With those words, Adam took her hand — his decisive action speaking louder than words.

"Adam." His unhesitating response filled Beatrice with joy, and her small hand gripped his tightly.

"Beatrice, I..."

Bang! Bang!

Before Adam could finish, another knock interrupted them.

"Adam, aren't you done yet?" It was Subaru again.

"Beatrice."

"Adam."

They called each other's names and shared a smile.

"Come to think of it, we're still being pursued."

"That's right. Adam always thinks about such things at times like this."

"Wait, what do you mean by 'such things', Beatrice? Don't slander me!"

"Hmph. Betty is just stating facts."

"Eh, is that so?"

Amid their bickering, the two walked out of the Forbidden Library together.

She would never return here. This journey would be her final break with the past!

Everyone was waiting quietly.

When they heard the door open, their gazes turned to see the Knight and Great Spirit appear before them.

"Hey everyone."

"Adam! You finally came out."

"Listen here, Subaru-kun, how dense can you be to keep interrupting private conversations between a man and woman? You might get kicked by a horse, you know."

"Ah, wait, is this my fault?! Also, Adam, hasn't your tone gotten harsher? It's the Witch, right? It must be because of the Witch!"

"Well, who knows?"

"Hey—!" Subaru shouted loudly, unable to tell if Adam was teasing or if it was the Witch's influence.

"Well hello, young man." Puck floated in mid-air, eyeing their clasped hands. He teased, "I never expected you'd capture Betty's heart like this... quite impressive, young man."

"You've got it wrong, Puck. This isn't about capturing — Beatrice made her own choice."

"Is that so? But if you dare make Betty sad, this old man won't let you off easy!" Puck's usually gentle face turned fierce, showing he wasn't joking.

"Rest assured, I will never make Beatrice sad."

"Can I trust you?"

"Of course. You can always trust Adam Carter, I say!"

"Hmm. That's good then." Puck nodded, satisfied with his promise.

"Though I'm not sure what's going on, congratulations to you both."

"Congratulations, Lady Beatrice."

"Congratulations, Lady Beatrice."

Emilia and the twin maids, who had been watching from the side, offered their congratulations.

"Hey, wait! Why does this suddenly feel like we're newlyweds receiving blessings?" Beatrice shouted in panic, "Betty and Adam aren't that kind of relationship — don't get it wrong!"

Adam nodded and agreed with her words, "That's right. My relationship with Beatrice isn't something so superficial—our bond goes beyond that. Beatrice is my most precious treasure!"

"Ahhh!... Adam is saying such shameless things!"

"If Beatrice likes hearing it, I'll say it as many times as you want."

"Eh?"

"How about it, do you like it?"

"...Well, it's not that I don't like it."

"Then I'll keep saying it. Even if it's embarrassing, I'll say it until Beatrice gets tired of hearing it!"

"...Do whatever you want. Hmph. Betty can't control you, Adam can do as he pleases." Beatrice turned her head away, no longer engaging with everyone.

"She's being tsundere."

"She's definitely being tsundere."

"Well, it is Beatrice after all."

"Indeed."

"So this is what tsundere means."

Everyone once again good-naturedly teased Beatrice, who was being tsundere out of embarrassment.

Even though they were in a dangerous situation, Adam's presence instantly lifted the oppressive atmosphere. With such a pillar of support, everyone's mood brightened dramatically.

Perhaps now they would have the courage to face even the Witch of Vainglory herself — though they would still lose in an instant.

"Alright, let's save the chitchat for after we escape." Adam said to everyone, "We don't know when that witch will find us, so we can't let our guard down. Emilia?"

"Yes, Adam is right. We should hurry and leave this place for the Sanctuary first." Emilia nodded, understanding his cue to take command.

"Beatrice, can you do it?"

"Hmph. Betty was already prepared while you were all talking."

"As expected of my amazing one!"

"You, stop using that phrase so much! You'll wear out these precious words!" Though she shouted, she couldn't hide her pleasure at his praise.

"Yes! I understand! I'll never say it again!"

"...Well, Betty didn't say you couldn't say it."

As they bantered, Beatrice connected with the Sanctuary's Magic Mark and activated a magic circle that enveloped everyone.

◈ Al Shamak ◈

A purple-black pillar of light shot up to the sky, and in an instant, everyone vanished from the earl's mansion.
