Survival in the Ruins: I can make everything evolve infinitely

Chapter 36 - Spirit Weapon.

Chapter 036: Spirit Weapon.

“Oh…” Liyue’s cheeks flushed as she opened her small mouth, allowing the Angel’s Tears to enter.

The liquid was sweet, and as it flowed into her stomach, it felt like rain after a long drought.

Her entire body warmed, and the crimson markings on her skin, from her heart to her face, no longer felt burning hot.

“Hmm~~”

Liyue let out a soft, shy moan of comfort.

“Mm-mm…”

She quickly covered her mouth with her hands.

Mu Liang leaned closer to observe the crimson markings on her cheeks. The deep red hue had faded slightly, and the markings no longer glimmered.

As expected, Angel’s Tears couldn’t cure the “Void Ghost’s infection.”

“How does it feel?” Mu Liang asked, already having his answer but wanting more details.

“I’ve never felt this light and relaxed before,” Liyue said, her excitement momentarily overshadowing her embarrassment.

She touched her right cheek with a smile, but her joy froze when she realised the detested markings of the Void Ghost’s infection were still there.

“Angel’s Tears can’t cure it either?” she said bitterly.

“Maybe the amount wasn’t enough,” Mu Liang said, his voice warm and reassuring.

“It’s fine. Even if it can’t cure me, it’s already slowed the progression of the Void Ghost’s infection.”

Liyue shook her head slightly, her expression calm and sincere. “As long as I don’t turn into a Void Ghost for now, I’m satisfied.”

“There will be a way,” Mu Liang said, watching her smile and resisting the urge to use evolution points to enhance Angel’s Wings.

He decided to observe her condition more before making a decision.

“Um… Can I stay here for a while?” Liyue asked, fidgeting with the hem of her clothes.

Worried she might be misunderstood, she quickly explained, “I want to wait for Angel’s Tears to form. I’ll trade something with you for it.”

She felt too embarrassed to propose trading for Angel’s Wings directly, so she settled on requesting Angel’s Tears.

Even if Angel’s Tears couldn’t cure her infection, the fact that they slowed its progression was reason enough for her to stay and negotiate a trade.

Some of her companions were also eagerly awaiting good news.

“You can stay,” Mu Liang said with a nod.

“Thank you,” Liyue said gratefully.

She carefully placed the wooden barrel on the table and took out a pristine longbow from under her cloak.

“This longbow is a spirit weapon. It enhances arrow stability and penetration,” she said, stroking the bow with reluctance before offering it to Mu Liang.

She continued, “When paired with this bow, an archer’s range and accuracy can increase by 30%.”

“What’s this?” Mu Liang asked curiously as he took the bow.

“Twang~~”

The bow felt light in his hands, and when he plucked the string, it emitted a deep, powerful hum.

“I want to trade this spirit weapon, the Light Spirit Longbow, for three drops of Angel’s Tears, including the one I just drank.”

Liyue tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her tone shy. “I might come back often to trade for Angel’s Tears in the future.”

According to her calculations, one drop of Angel’s Tears could suppress the Void Ghost’s infection for about sixty days.

“Tell me more about spirit weapons,” Mu Liang said, realising he didn’t know what they were.

He glanced at the bunny-eared girl sitting nearby, who seemed lost in thought.

“What is it?” Mino blinked her blue eyes in confusion.

“Nothing,” Mu Liang replied, shaking his head.

He concluded that Mino didn’t know what spirit weapons were either.

Liyue watched their interaction and asked in surprise, “You don’t know about spirit weapons?”

“Not at all,” Mu Liang admitted honestly, nodding.

Mino followed suit, nodding obediently, though she still seemed a little wary of strangers.

“Spirit weapons are crafted from the materials of ferocious or spirit beasts. They retain some of the abilities the beasts had in life,” Liyue explained.

She pointed to the longbow in Mu Liang’s hands and said, “For instance, the main material of this spirit weapon is the wing bone of a bird-like ferocious beast.”

“That’s all?” Mu Liang asked, slightly disappointed.

“Well, mine’s a low-grade spirit weapon, so that’s all it can do,” Liyue said, rolling her eyes playfully.

“There are more advanced spirit weapons that incorporate beast crystals to activate special abilities.”

“Got it,” Mu Liang said, nodding.

He had initially been startled, imagining spirit weapons to be as powerful as those in fantasy novels.

It turned out they were merely weapons imbued with the natural properties of ferocious or spirit beasts.

“Can you make spirit weapons?” Mu Liang asked, intrigued.

“I can make simple ones. This Light Spirit Longbow is my creation,” Liyue said, tilting her chin up with a hint of pride.

“In that case… You can keep this bow.” Mu Liang returned the bow to her hands.

“Huh?” Liyue looked at the longbow in her hands, flustered.

“Don’t worry. I’ll still give you two drops of Angel’s Tears,” Mu Liang said with a gentle smile.

“Why?” Liyue furrowed her white brows, knowing from experience that nothing was ever freely given.

“I need you to craft a spirit weapon for me,” Mu Liang said. He wasn’t used to using longbows and preferred specialised military crossbows.

He also wanted to learn how to craft spirit weapons if the opportunity arose.

“Oh?” Liyue’s mouth dropped open in surprise.

After a moment’s hesitation, she said softly, “I’ve mainly made longbows. I’m not skilled enough to craft other high-quality spirit weapons yet.”

“That’s fine. I’ll tell you the weapon’s design when the time comes,” Mu Liang said casually, waving his hand.

He had another plan in mind—keeping Liyue around.

As the rock-armoured turtle evolved, its size would increase, making self-inspection more difficult. Like an elephant unable to detect an ant on its back, the turtle would need someone to watch over it.

Liyue was the perfect candidate for this role.

Binding her loyalty with a few drops of Angel’s Tears and enlisting a spirit weapon crafter as a guardian was an excellent deal.

However, he still needed to observe her further.

“All right,” Liyue agreed reluctantly.

Looking at the Light Spirit Longbow in her hands, she felt this arrangement wasn’t so bad. At least with a weapon, she’d feel safer.

“It’s getting late. You two should rest,” Mu Liang said, noticing Mino struggling to keep her eyes open.

“Huh? You’re done talking?” Mino mumbled, rubbing her eyes drowsily.

“Go on, get some sleep,” Mu Liang said gently.

“What about Liyue?”

Mino leaned closer to Mu Liang’s ear and whispered, her warm breath tickling him. “We only have two rooms. Where will she sleep?”

“Liyue can sleep in my room. I’ll stay in the hall tonight,” Mu Liang said softly.

“No, no, I’ll sleep in the hall,” Liyue said, waving her hands in a panic.

She felt embarrassed, especially after having initially insisted she wouldn’t stay overnight.

“Listen to me. It’s not right to let a guest sleep in the hall,” Mu Liang said firmly.

“Oh…” Liyue lowered her head, blushing.

“…” Mino opened her mouth hesitantly, wanting to suggest that Liyue could share her room.

“It’s fine. Don’t push yourself,” Mu Liang said, tugging lightly on Mino’s bunny ears.

“I’m not a pet! Stop pulling my ears,” Mino said, pouting in weak protest.

“Sure, sure…” Mu Liang replied dismissively.

“Hmph! I’m going to bed.”

“Sweet dreams.”
