Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 442 The Days Under Surveillance Are Uncomfortable

Hill had originally thought that William's minor trouble was due to being watched by a group of bigshots overhead, which made it difficult for him to say much to Hill.

Although as friends, apologizing is normal. But under the gaze of all gods, the future deity of justice and fairness might have some things he couldn't outright say.

William possibly wanted Spencer to first convey his apology, and after returning to Teraxil, he would formally communicate with Hill.

Hill could feel that Spencer hoped he would temporarily refrain from bringing up the matter.

Although a bit unclear, Hill promptly agreed, for his anger towards William had calmed down a lot over time.

He had been so angry before because at some point, Hill had come to consider William a friend.

If withdrawing to the position of allies, Hill had to admit that William's actions were not at all problematic.

From the perspective of the alliance, it was quite commendable for William to have shown such an attitude.

However, Hill, who had walked into the hall, was shocked.

The William seated on the throne, though seemingly full of energy, had divine power that was significantly lower than when Hill and he had parted ways!

Just as Hill was about to speak, he changed the subject under William's gaze, "Your Majesty the King, Merkel probably didn't tell you that the Beast Kingdom's sudden instability is related to the beastmen, right?"

"What?" William gave up his composed posture and stood up.

"Damn it!" he cursed softly, "It must have followed Coron here!"

"William of Teraxil, how can you blame this all on me?" a person wrapped in a blue cloak appeared in the hall.

"You're still here!" William said with a less-than-pleasant attitude, "Tyr and the others have come; we don't need you anymore! Why are you still lingering here? Aren't you about to switch worlds?"

"This world happens to have beastmen!" Coron replied nonchalantly to William's hostility, "I wanted to see if anyone would come to claim them.

With so many strong beastmen, logically speaking, that fellow wouldn't give up on them."

He turned his head to glance at Hill, "But I didn't expect them to head to Teraxil first. Why would he provoke the World Tree Pantheon?"

"Perhaps he thought he could take care of the Elven God King after seizing control?" William said with a smile, "That is Father of Elves' most beloved child, after all!"

"How could that be possible," Coron said with apparent indifference, "If he truly was the most beloved, he would definitely not let him leave Heavenly Mountain! He has a lot of good things, but those were rewards for risking his life to complete my tasks.

Most of what was given to him were just basic supplies for my children, even the angels didn't get them."

William looked at Coron with a peculiar gaze, fully aware that the dispatched Elven God King was not as unbeloved as Coron claimed.

If he really brought powerful angels with him, how could he possibly have made contact with the Star Spirit?

True angels are not just representatives of kindness but possess ample battle strength.

That foolish fellow completing his mission right under the nose of a Demon Prince could only mean that Coron had meticulously designed each step for him.

Owing the Star Spirit a favor, the Elven God King, even if he had not repaid it immediately in his rush to seek help from companions, would surely repay that favor in the future.

However, as Star Spirits typically lack a sense of time, the Elven God King might have a long wait ahead of him.

That's the real reason why that Elven God King staunchly defended Teraxil—if he was too far away and the Star Spirit had to search for him again, it might be another several hundred thousand years.

Thus, although mixing into the fight between the elves and the Demon Prince was dangerous, many, including Coron's other children, wanted to undertake it.

Assigning this task to the Elven God King already demonstrated the regard Coron held for him.

And now, to outright deny it!

William couldn't help but scrutinize Coron closer, thinking that perhaps his hide was even thicker than Bahamut's dragon skin.

Hill looked up, wondering if the jokes about the Elven God King had already spread to the Ferun Great Land.

Coron, a typical chaotic deity, though not really caring about this trivial matter being discussed by the elves, seemed somewhat unable to hold out once the human deities got wind of it!

Unperturbed by their gazes, Coron laughed and asked Hill, "Could you tell me about the beastman matter in Teraxil? The World Tree is too peaceful; as long as Teraxil is unharmed, it couldn't care less about who has the advantage on the mainland."

Hill fell silent for a second, understanding he was referring to the Goddess of the Earth.

Perhaps she once had another name, but after merging with the world, her official name could only be Teraxil.

Hill tried to explain the matter of the fox as straightforwardly as possible, not detailing the subsequent turmoil, only mentioning that when they later searched for the fox, they found he had already run off following Alice's departure.

Coron nodded, "Definitely a beastman, and a demigod-level one at that, able to freely shift between man and beast—it must be a priest of the beastmen's Goddess of Life."

"Shouldn't it be a minion of the Main God?" William asked with interest.

"His minions would just attack directly; they don't have the brains for more.

It's not so easy to enter the Star Gate of Teraxil." Coron chuckled, "Don't underestimate the Star Gate we both created!"

William didn't make another comment, not foolish enough to offend the Father of Elves severely when he still needed to use the Star Gate.

The seemingly gentle Coron was not as understanding as he appeared.

It was Hill who asked, "Respected Father of Elves, was the space-time tunnel attacked this time when we entered Felunryel? Why were we scattered across the corners of the world?"

"Will it be the same in the next world? I need to make some preparations."

"I just didn't expect the issue with the Chromatic Dragon Queen to arise," Coron said with a hint of laughter in his voice, "Who would activate the highest level of defensive power under normal circumstances?

Under my watch, Tiamat actually managed to strike at the Star Gate; it seems that although her Divine Power is still of a lower rank, she has recovered a great deal of strength!

That Evil Dragon Castle she has in the northern part of Ferun needs to be watched."

Whenever Coron spoke, there was always a gentle and friendly tone to his voice, but his words carried deep chills and murderous intent.

Hill nodded respectfully and kept silent.

Unfortunately, it's probably too late now.

The leader of the Dragon Worship Church must have nearly finished their research, right?

Soon, all dragons in Ferun Great Land will go mad.

No matter what kind of dragon.

Having reached his goal, Coron quickly took his leave.

Hill asked, somewhat puzzled, "Your Majesty the King, why not stay in your stone Royal Palace?"

He swallowed the words that reached his lips: Why stay here under the surveillance of so many deities?

"Everyone is looking for that escaped Red Dragon," William replied, sidestepping the question, "Both good and evil factions alike, and Hill, you'd best not use the Isolation Array either.

Otherwise, there will always be someone trying to knock on the door to see what you're hiding."

Hill frowned; hadn't the Red Dragon escaped?

"Outside this planet, who knows how many powerful Divine Powers are guarding, yet not one of them noticed how that Red Dragon escaped. They all suspect he's still in this world.

The most convenient way would be the Star Gate that opens in a month, wouldn't it?" William said helplessly, "It looks like a very serious matter, and if you don't want to fall out with the Gods of Ferun, you'll have to just bear it for a few days.

It's better than drawing their attention to Teraxil."

Hill could only nod his head in agreement. Although the deities' powers couldn't enter Teraxil, they could send their subordinates to check.

He didn't want all these various characters entering his world either.

As for the Dragon Egg, Hill was a little confused.

When Bahamut talked about replacing the position of the Chromatic Dragon Queen, Hill always thought he was joking and teasing Tiamat. He and Tiamat were both the origins of the dragon species; no offspring could replace them.

He had thought the Platinum Dragon was hinting to that Red Dragon, that Tiamat might plan to use the body of her future daughter to reconstruct herself.

After being resurrected in Chassar's body, she had never been quite satisfied.

This was an internal strife among Evil Dragons; in theory, the Kind Alignment shouldn't be involved.

So, there must be some very serious matter, either Bahamut told Tyr about it, or the Platinum Dragon King hoped to get help.

"Would they dare show disrespect to Your Majesty the King?" Hill asked, with a displeased tone.

"Not at all, they just keep knocking on the door to visit," William said with a cold laugh, "I simply left the Royal Palace. Of course, I did so after ensuring their promise to keep me safe."

Hill nodded; it was indeed easy to provoke Tyr's subordinates into making an oath to protect the King who had been exposed to danger due to their mistakes.

"Some things are past and over," Hill said with a smile, "As long as the future is good, that's what matters."

Although Spencer didn't lay it out explicitly, Hill knew what had happened.

That William had less Divine Power than before could only mean he gave it up himself. He had not been in direct combat, so it couldn't be due to injury.

The only reason would be an issue with the unlit Divine Crystal of Divine Fire within William.

Faith poison, perhaps?

Formal deities would burn the poison with Divine Fire, but William, who only had a small flame, probably failed to burn it clean.

Though he didn't accept faith, as long as his Divinity and Name of God were spread, someone would worship him.

William shook his head, "Hill, after you return to Teraxil, I formally invite you to visit the Saral Royal Palace; this place is not suitable for friends to talk.

I'm barely tolerating it myself—have you noticed that Spencer won't even stay in the same hall with me?"

Hill, seeing William still able to joke, couldn't help but laugh.

After refusing William's insincere invitation to stay, Hill returned to his sailing ship.

He had Marsha warn Alice and Merkel with a notice that no Isolation Array was activated on the ship and, after reminding them to be careful about what they discussed, Hill began his daily routine of reading.

Though he was still a bit uncomfortable, each day different powerful Divine Powers would sweep through the Star Gate campsite.
