Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 488: The Changed Future of the Undead Swamp

Looking at the sealed stone coffin, Hill bowed his head and wished that the lady could find eternal rest.

"The rest is up to you," he told Terry, "take her to the stone forest behind the Temple of Agleya, which will serve as her burial ground."

Terry cheerfully hoisted the stone coffin onto his back and steadily made his way up.

Hill, with a resigned smile, took out a space box he had made and began to float the gold and silver treasures on the ground into it.

The items he crafted himself all had the ability to purify, so even if these treasures were a bit tainted, they'd be cleansed after some time.

After turning five meters below the treasure vault into obsidian, Hill made an alchemical stone gate for Terry as well.

He had remembered whom this place originally belonged to.

The duo nicknamed 'Black Death,' who despite being two individuals, disguised themselves as one—the Black Dragon brothers.

However, they only came after the end of the Dragon Madness, later infiltrating the Dragon Worship Church, stealing a considerable amount of slaves and supplies for themselves.

Then there was the necklace pendant. Even without asking Terry, Hill knew what it was.

The famous silly Mercury Dragon, Silver Flame Tasding Yaroslav, had gotten a divine artifact necklace from a mountain range in The North.

No wonder he didn't say where he found it; otherwise, the 'Black Death' brothers would have pursued him relentlessly.

He must have planned to uncover the secret of that particularly strong Black Dragon in the Undead Swamp and then stumbled upon this place while spying on 'Black Death.'

With a personality like Silver Flame's, similar to the young master among the Undead Tribe, he'd certainly ditch everything and run down into any gap he found.

The pendant was indeed very well suited for a dragon.

Hill thought that probably both Terry and that Silver Flame had the same goal in mind, to find a safe and worry-free vault, which is why they discovered it.

For a giant dragon, this pendant was more valuable than any divine artifact.

Its original owner was an Amethyst Dragonkin magician, who possessed an interdimensional vault inherited from an ancient Amethyst Dragon ancestor, filled with countless treasures from the era of Naesreiel, the Ancient Dragon.

Hill only remembered this much, and then dimensional artifacts would definitely have an 'Any Door' feature, but he couldn't recall anything else.

It was only because of Silver Flame's quirky nature that he had paid any attention; the rest he had ignored.

The Black Dragon brothers would come to this place a while after the end of the Dragon Madness.

As Hill had proof of landownership and enough power to ensure the security of his territory, and with the child of the Silvermoon Dragon Queen by his side,

those two somewhat cunning and sly Black Dragon brothers wouldn't bother him.

There would probably just be an additional pair of neighbors in the corner north of the Undead Swamp.

Hill had never thought of taking over that place, which was the temple of Milko, the fallen God of Death, and one of the bases of the Dragon Sorcery Sect.

It was said that Milko's treasures were hidden there waiting for someone to uncover them. The brothers had the key, and anyone else going there would only face death.

This wasn't any secret; anyone with a little ability knew about it, or else such a prime location as the Undead Swamp wouldn't be so desolate.

When Deepwater City and Neverwinter were selling land, they would naturally steer clear of that place, otherwise even those looking for adventures wouldn't buy it.

Hill was actually hoping that the Black Dragon brothers would clear out that area, which would make it much easier for Agleya to purify the undead.

The Three Gods of Death were all troublesome beings, still creating problems even after turning to ash.

As Hill descended from the Cloud Realm, he saw Terry sharing the artifact he had just acquired with Agleya and Marsha.

It seemed he had already properly buried the remains of the female sorceress.

From their conversation, it appeared that the Golden Dragon hoped Agleya would help him purify the treasures he had obtained.

It seemed his intelligence was much higher than that of Silver Flame, who would just pick things up and directly throw them into the vault.

After Agleya lent a hand, they excitedly discussed the pendant's abilities.

They hadn't yet realized the identity of the key within the pendant but had discovered three skills—two of them support-oriented which could be used four times a day: a random 'Any Door' and a Rejuvenation spell that could help heal injuries.

One was an attack-oriented skill, usable three times a day, called Demon Fire, which was an area-effect spell.

All skills well-suited for a giant dragon.

Hill decided not to remind them, letting Terry explore on his own. Such a big surprise would keep him smug for many years.

As for himself, Hill had never intended to take any divine artifacts from the Toril World. The magic books he made, and even the high-level materials he used, were all brought over from Teraxil.

The appearance of a divine artifact was almost a physical manifestation of the Law, and if he didn't want to get involved in this world full of trouble every year, it was best not to take away any artifacts created by others.

It seemed those were made with a purpose in mind, and even Star Spirits interested in these artifacts would choose to copy rather than take them away.

As for his magic books, although they were also precious, knowledge was something he had acquired through purchase, and it didn't significantly impact the laws of this world.

The only related Puzzle Lock, the spokesperson for the Law, was still eagerly waiting for his spring!

Hill didn't owe much to this world, and it was far from reaching the bottom line. A star-traveling universe like Toril wouldn't calculate so carefully.

Hill thought for a moment and flew to the Stone Forest to inspect his future gravesite.

Seeing the tomb placed in the very center by the Golden Dragon, Hill couldn't help but turn back and glance at Terry, surmising that the dragon recognized the Dragonborn by bloodline, as dragons likely had their own ways of recognizing lineage.

Hill knew only a little Draconic, but he recognized a few words on the stele: "Rest in peace under the watch of Bahamut."

Gently waving his hand, Hill rectified the roughly made stone tomb built by Terry and then turned the surrounding area into grey marble.

He looked around the environment and moved the thicker stone pillars to the outermost edges, then transplanted tall pine trees from The North between the pillars.

Finally, he transformed the ground into thinner slabs of stone.

It would suffice to simply lift one to use when needed.

Only then did Hill begin to inscribe the resting and Purification Arrays.

Even with Agleya's Temple nearby, Hill still decided to be cautious.

Who knew if Milko could resurrect even from ashes.

The world of Toril had no shortage of Necromancers and Liches.

After completing this work, Hill began to focus on his own dwelling.

As dusk approached, Hill hastened his efforts.

First, he conjured a five-meter thick obsidian foundation, then clutching his Magic Book, he meditated on the future abode.

The Magic Book emitted multicolored lights that spun around the foundation in circles.

The fourth chapter of his abode officially materialized into this world.

The obsidian slowly began to float, and atop the foundation emerged a 300-square-meter white five-story mini castle.

Hill had imitated New Swan Castle, of course on a miniature scale.

After all, William had already built a similar one, and Hill suspected he hadn't seen New Swan Stronghold but knew Disney Castle.

In the courtyard, fountains, flowerbeds, and exquisitely crafted stone tables and benches appeared.

Thorn walls three meters high were erected along the edges of the obsidian, with various vines and thorns intertwining upon them.

From the ground level, one simply couldn't see any part of the courtyard.

As for the control center of the Floating Castle, once Hill floated in, he found a small floating book in the center of the main hall on the first floor.

Once in his hands, he could set the castle to fly or float at will, shift positions, and even navigate through mountains and trees from a phased space.

Marsha floated up excitedly, "I know this! There are many furnishings in the warehouse that can be used for this castle. Where's List? Have him take it out!"

Hill couldn't help but laugh, then released most of the Crystal Flower glass from his hand, "First replace all the windows with this, then add an extra layer outside the wall.

I certainly don't want to run into a dragon one day."

Terry flapped his wings and landed in the courtyard, "Hill, the castle looks pretty, but it's a bit small. I want my Dragon Nest to be as big as possible."

Hill turned and said with a smile, "Marsha has many architectural blueprints; you can take a look if there's anything you particularly like! A larger size is fine, I can make the stone platform thicker."

Terry glanced at Marsha, busy directing Puppets, "I'll wait a bit longer then, since you have a place for me here, too."

Hill nodded, "Both the top floor and the first floor are quite tall, but I think you'd prefer the top floor, right?"

Terry nodded happily.

This castle had one large suite on each of the left and right sides, just right for Hill and Terry to have one each.

As for Agleya, of course, she would stay underneath Hill's floor.

Her mansion was designed after the palace of that romantic King, with even a miniature waterfall and shallow pool at the entrance.

As long as she was at Hill's place, Agleya's treatment was set according to the Young Master, not as a Goddess of the Sea.

Majesty and power could stay in the Temple below; returning here, Agleya was again just a relaxed, carefree Princess.

For the next two days, not many passed by, which allowed Marsha's decorating work to be quite successful.

And after the castle was arranged, Marsha spent most of her time on the ground, so Hill let List out.

Terry followed Marsha every day, discussing with her how to perfect his future luxurious Dragon Nest, which kept him grounded as well.

But compared to Agleya, who was spending most of her time in the Temple working on Purification, Terry preferred the big hotel.

Especially the long tavern on the first floor to the right, where he saw the myriad of drinks Hill pulled out and instruments placed on the small stage, seemingly igniting Terry's inherited love for alcohol and music from his Silver Dragon father, and he found himself almost living at the bar.

After observing Terry for a day, Hill knew he wouldn't need to hire a tavern keeper.

Indeed, as he stood atop and saw the first group of distant visitors arriving, the Golden Dragon strongly requested to take charge of the tavern from then on.

Before his nest was fully constructed, he had already found a satisfying job for himself, planning to carry on indefinitely.
