Chapter 90: Achievements

With the efforts of Hong and Lei Shen, the swarm's scale continued to expand, making the process of globalization unstoppable. One by one, base cities announced their intention of joining the United Government, gradually uniting the entire Earth.

Numerous fighters, riding on monsters, cooperated with the swarm to hunt monsters in the wilderness and reclaim cities occupied by them. Within China, stability was increasingly restored. Monsters in the cities were cleared out, and new skyscrapers were built amidst the ruins.

Some people in the base cities had begun to migrate outward. With such a population crowded into six base cities and their surrounding satellite cities, resource utilization had long reached its limit. With security assured and certain privileges for moving into newly built cities, many were willing to venture out.

As numerous safe zones were established, large tracts of land were developed, easing the tension on various resources. Everywhere, construction projects were in full swing, and there was a shortage of people; almost everyone was busy.

Qin Mu, who led all this, did not slacken. Compared to Jia Yi, Hong, and Lei Shen, who were fighting abroad for unification, Qin Mu's main task was to guard the fundamental base of China.

Under normal circumstances, he no longer needed to fight. Even the two emperor monsters, when encountering Hong and Lei Shen with Cloud Vine, could only flee desperately.

For some special reasons, Qin Mu did not deal with the two emperor monsters. Otherwise, with the expanding scale of the ocean swarm, finding the two emperor monsters would not be difficult. With Qin Mu's current strength, if he encountered them, the emperor monsters would not be able to escape.

However, his focus was no longer on fighting. Apart from occasionally going out to capture and enslave king-level monsters, he mostly stayed in the research lab.

At this moment, in the Biological Laboratory of the First Military Academy in Jiangnan Base City, Qin Mu and Professor Zhou were operating experimental instruments to create a gene potion.

Compared to the first time Qin Mu met Professor Zhou, the professor now looked much younger, and his movements during experiments were more agile.

After returning from Misty Island, Qin Mu gave Professor Zhou a ten-thousand-year-old willow heart. After consuming it, Professor Zhou reached the level of a high Warlord, significantly increasing his cell activity and making him look younger. Although Professor Zhou himself did not care much about personal strength improvement, focusing more on research, the enhancement in his physical condition made him more energetic during research, which pleased him.

"Still no good." Professor Zhou frowned.

Three months ago, Qin Mu approached Professor Zhou with the idea of a human bloodline evolution agent. Professor Zhou was instantly captivated by the idea and invested a lot of energy into researching it with Qin Mu.

Not only Professor Zhou, but a large number of top researchers were involved in the experiment. This research was highly supported, and without Qin Mu even needing to speak, vast human and material resources were allocated.

"We have collected a large amount of genetic data from the descendants of Wargod-level strongmen. Their genes do have many subtle differences from ordinary people, which give them innate talents superior to ordinary people. However, extracting these genes, editing them, and making them into gene potions has not yielded the expected results."

With the top researchers in China and the free use of various resources, including high-end resources like spirits of nature, although the experiments did not meet the target, they did make some progress.

Before Qin Mu proposed this idea, China and several major countries had similar research. The results included various gene potions for warriors. Unfortunately, these gene potions had significant side effects. While they could enhance strength, they essentially consumed human potential, making it impossible to improve further on one's own.

This was not the kind of bloodline enhancement Qin Mu envisioned. He wanted to enhance potential, not just strength.

Many powerful races in the universe, such as the Manka clan, continuously produced strong individuals and improved the genes of their offspring. After countless years, they achieved the top ten bloodlines among humans. Therefore, starting from the genes of strong individuals' descendants was a good approach.

Although the strongest on Earth were planetary-level strongmen like Hong and Lei Shen, Qin Mu's requirements were not that high. After all, research could not achieve everything at once and needed to start from the basics. With the current level of research resources Qin Mu had, it was sufficient. After gathering the top researchers nationwide, their ideas greatly benefited Qin Mu.

While discussing with everyone in the lab, far away, hundreds of meters underground in a cave. A level three Nest stood, and around it, in evolution chambers, gene structures based on Qin Mu's genetic structure and a large number of excellent gene blueprints from strong individuals' descendants were being edited.

Compared to the complex instruments needed in the lab, editing genes in the evolution chambers was much easier. New gene structures were completed one by one, and the Nest began to incubate and verify them.

Near the Nest, an egg cracked open, and a human body that bore a nine-point resemblance to Qin Mu walked out. However, after just a few steps, the human body stumbled and fell to the ground, its skin breaking and blood flowing out.

"Experiment 0056731 gene fusion failed; experimental data saved and under analysis." A cold will echoed in the Nest. A worker insect crawled over and dragged the human body into the Nest's digestive organ.

As this human body was being dragged into the digestive organ, more human bodies were being hatched.

"Experiment 0056732: Increased absorption and utilization of genetic energy, enhanced physical fitness, but some organs and bones have mutated. Experimental data saved and under analysis."

A strange human body, similar in height and build to Qin Mu but covered in scales and with sharp bone spikes on its arms, emerged from an egg.

"Experiment 0056733: Fusion with some monster genes, enhanced physical fitness, highly mutated body. Experimental data saved and under analysis."

A three-meter-tall creature, resembling a human but with two curved arms that had blades like a mantis's scythe, roared upwards.

Near the Nest, numerous human bodies similar in appearance to Qin Mu were continuously being hatched. Only a very small number of these human bodies were in good condition; most were either experiencing genetic collapse or severe mutations, resulting in distorted forms.

Gene experiments are extremely dangerous, especially when directly editing the genes of the human body itself. This is a significant reason why progress in the lab was slow. They needed to ensure safety before use, but Qin Mu did not have this constraint. He could immediately execute and verify his ideas for feasibility. For the swarm, this instinctive gene editing was far more efficient.

"After gathering the top research talents nationwide, the research progress is much faster than when I was working alone. The sparks of wisdom generated by collective thinking have rapidly overcome numerous difficulties." Qin Mu's voice echoed in the swarm's consciousness.

As the master of the swarm, how could he overlook the power of collective strength? Perhaps these researchers were not very powerful themselves, but their wisdom was top-notch. When the Nest research encountered difficulties, Qin Mu proposed ideas, gathered insights, and conducted research both in the lab and in the Nest.

The progress was much faster than working alone. Even the lab had preliminary results, let alone the Nest. In the Nest, there were already three relatively stable enhancement plans that could increase Qin Mu's potential. Although the enhancement was not very large, it was a very good start.

Moreover, in the Nest, Qin Mu had successfully combined some excellent genes from the descendants of warriors to create a potion that could enhance humans to the level of primary warriors without side effects.

However, the production of this potion required a significant amount of energy. If produced in the lab, it would need a large amount of precious herbs, and the effect would not be as good as that produced in the Nest.

"This kind of life is truly comfortable." Unlike the battles with monsters, the feeling of being constantly filled with knowledge was wonderful. Qin Mu found that he also enjoyed this kind of research life. Unlike the blood-pumping excitement of battle, this peaceful form of improvement was equally fascinating.

"Unfortunately, such a peaceful life requires strong power to maintain."

In the lab, Qin Mu's arm-mounted light computer vibrated; it was a call request from Jia Yi.

"Qin Mu, we succeeded! The Ice Emperor Mo Henderson has submitted an application to join the United Government. The world is unified!" Jia Yi's excited voice came through the light computer.

"Unified." Qin Mu glanced at the time on his light computer; it was already June 6, 2057.

Qin Mu sighed. The reason for the delay was to avoid too many civilian casualties and to achieve unification in a relatively gentle manner. Hong and Lei Shen had already joined the United Government, and the many strong individuals under their command naturally belonged to the United Government as well.

Not only the original strong individuals but also the many warriors who rose during the war. With the abundant supply of spirits of nature, China now had over ten thousand Wargod-level strong individuals, more than ten times the number before the war. Among these numerous Wargod-level strong individuals, over thirty had broken through to the planetary level.

Among those who rose during the war, Luo Feng stood out the most. After executing a security mission on Misty Island, Luo Feng quickly broke through to the planetary level and officially joined the high ranks of the United Government as a powerful general.

After leading his own monsters into continuous battles and defeating multiple beast tides, he made significant contributions. During this time, he showed great curiosity about his own monsters and even proposed to deeply understand the military's monster breeding technology.

There were too many people with similar curiosity, including Hong and Lei Shen.

All of this seemed inconspicuous. With the strength of the United Government, achieving unification by force would have been too easy.

Shortly after ending the communication with Jia Yi, the swarm also brought good news. The poisonous gas of the Bug Queen's Nest was almost completely dissipated. A poisonous zerg, for the first time, touched the surface of the Queen's Nest and was exploring deep into it through various channels.
