The Abyss Dendro Lector of Nazarick

Chapter 6: Chp:5 Sunlit Scriptures

At almost sunset, the warriors from Re-estize charge out from the village on their horses. Led by Gazef in the front they headed straight towards the enemy surrounding the area.

"Remember everyone! Once we break their encirclement, flee! Don't look back!" Gazef ordered his subordinates as he gritted his teeth, preparing for the worst.

Countless thoughts seemed to crash down on his minds, as if the last vission of a dying man. One of them was the conversation with Lord Ainz.

------

Flashback

When the warriors reached the village front, they didn't see what they expected. The village rather than being ravaged and turned was lively, partly. Broken and destroyed houses were being repaired as the villagers helped eachother.

The warriors were greeted by four figures. One of them Gazef reckoned was the Village Chief, his eyes reflecting relief and a hint of caution.

The three other people standing with him didn't look local. Especially the floating one, Gazef didn't know how to describe it. As he talked with the chief then the three people, he learned their names.

The tall gaudy dressed was called Ainz Ooal Gown, a magic caster. The one fully armoured with a halberd seemed to be his retainer, while the last.. floating one was silent. Gazef identified it as one of those angels in the Theocracy.

While they talked one of his apprentices rushed to inform them that they were surrounded, with angles by their side.

With the help of the chief and Ainz, they gathered the villagers in one of the warehouse, while he observed the situation outside, confirming that it was indeed Slane Theocracy.

"You seemed to be quite liked Warrior Captain." Ainz made a comment as he saw the angels.

'Angels...just like in Yggdrasil. I wonder who summoned them, will I finally meet players?'

Ainz thought to himself.

"Lord Ainz, can I hire you for a job?" Gazef suddenly asked.

"I know what you intend from me. And no, I am not available." Ainz swiftly denied Gazef's request.

"I see, then I hope you will keep them safe." Gazef bowed as he requested.

"There's no need for this, I have already sworn on my name. This village is now under my protection." Ainz confirmed as he lifted Gazef to make him stand up.

"Then I can rest assured." Gazef sighed out.

------

Seeing the warriors rushing, the leader of the mages who encircled the village scoffed.

"As if this trick would work. Send the angels." Nigun ordered as he smirked.

Suddenly, the white beings floating beside each mages sprung to life, welding swords of light as they swiftly met the warriors.

The warriors evoked their martial arts as a battle began. As time went on the warriors got knocked down one by one. It was not to say they didn't do anything, but simply because the mages summoned new angles as the old died.

Finally as Gazef stood alone, holding his sword on both his hands, he looked at his comrades and apprentices.

"So the renowned warrior Captain dies in a nameless plains huh?" Nigun mocked.

"Hahaha, even if I die, there are stronger beings inside this village who can avenge me." Gazef laughed as he wiped the blood from his mouth.

"Stronger beings? Humphf! A meaningless bluff. Once I've dealt with you, I will slaughter the village too. How about it? You surrender yourself and I can give them a swift death?" Nigun smiled coldly as he extended one of his hands.

"You are only inviting death for yourself. I pity you." Gazef shook his head as a smile formed on his lips.

"Tch! Enough with this nonsense. Archangel Observation, kill him!" Nigun commanded the largest angel floating behind him.

As the angel moved to attack Gazef a sudden dark light engulfed Gazef and his comrades. The light quickly dissipated, with them nowhere to be seen. Only three people remained in their stead.

------

"What?" Confused with the sudden turn of events Nigun looked at the suspects.

A gaudy robed magic caster with a mask on his face, a female knight? And a Summon?

"Who are you?" Cautious, Nigun asked.

"I apologise for the sudden intrusion but there was something you said that disturbed me. I was observing your 'fight' with the warriors and I heard you say you will slaughter the villagers?" The magic caster asked.

"Heh, so what? You here to beg for their lives?" Nigun mocked.

"Foolish mortal. Ignorant and also arrogant."

He was surprised by the summon when it spoke, did it sigh?

"What is that?" Nigun pointedly looked at the summon. According to what he knew this summoned looked like the archangels, only green and no wings on it. He also didn't feel any light from it, rather he felt a sense of dread, as if the Abyss was staring at him.

"Forgive my tardiness, I am Ainz Ooal Gown and this here are my Gaurdians, Albedo and Hyortr." Ainz introduced.

"No matter who you are, you have already chosen to die when coming here attack them." Nigun smiled as he ordered the Archangel Flames

Suddenly two archangels striked Ainz, due to the perspective and angle, Nigun thought the attack connected as he scoffed.

"All bark no bite."

"Hm?" Soon he noticed a certain inconsistency, the angels didn't return back and they seemed to be struggling.

As Ainz slammed the angels on the ground whom he stopped with his hands they dissipated in the air.

"Impossible! No mortal can match their strength!" Bewildered by the display of pure might Nigun gasped.

'No, it must be some sort of physical enhancement!' Reassuring himself he once again ordered.

"Send all the archangel flames!"

"My my, I guess I should Fight back. Albedo, Hyortr step back." Ainz spoke as he stepped forward.

With Albedo and Hyortr retreating a few steps behind Ainz released a Negative Burst. The energy sphere expanded outwards as it destroyed the angels.

"I-mpossible..." "Monster."

Countless gasps rang throughout the mages as they witnessed Ainz destroy all the 20 Archangels in an instant. Fear spreading through them.

"Principality of Observation!" Nigun turned towards the angel as he commanded it to strike Ainz.

As it angel swung it's mace towards Ainz, he blocked the attack with his hands as he released a small seemingly weak black flame .

[Hell Fire ]

The flame quickly engulfed the angel as nothing, not even its ashes remained.

"Absurd!.....no, we still have that! Everyone attack him with your spells, stall for me! I have our trump card!" Nigun declared.

The mages released magic spells of their own as Ainz simply shrugged it off.

"Low level spells won't work on me." Ainz commented as he suddenly saw what that trump card was.

'A summoning crystal? If it's a Seraph then It will be troublesome.' Ainz suddenly raised his vigilance.

"Albedo, I might need you skill. Hyortr prepare to erect you barrier." Ainz ordered.

"Witness! The highest Authority of All! The Dominion Authority!" Nigun euphorically declared as the crystal unleashed a blinding light.

As the light subsided, it revealed a large angle, with numerous wings as a golded staff horizontally on it's hands.

The mages gasped in awe and worship at the display as some even knelt to worship it .

"*Sigh* " Ainz, looking at the 'danger' he considered felt ashamed. He even held his face with his hands, sighing.

"What? Are you scared? If you ask for forgiveness now the I consider sparing you." Nigun asked as he took Ainz's exasperated expression as something else.

"This is Dumb."

"Huh?" This single comment stunned Ningun and the mages, what was dumb?.

"Albedo, I am sorry to raise my guard against this toy. You too Hyortr, you may relax now." Ainz apologised

"It's nothing my Lord. Vigilance is key to surviving in this world. The only wrong ones are them, they are too weak." Hyortr spoke.

"Exactly my Lord! Let us deal with them! Such scoundrels are unworthy of you attention." Albedo concurred with Hyortr.

"It's fine Albedo. Since we have reached this far, let me deal with them." Ainz said as he stepped forward.

While their conversation didn't make much sense to Nigun, he clearly picked up on some key words like weak and scoundrels.

So he ordered the Dominion Authority to attack them.

"Dominion Authority! Use Holy Smite!"

With that command, the staff on the angel shattered into fragments as it circled around it. Mana seemed to gather around it as a while pillar light ascended from it, targeting Ainz.

"Feel the power of the Seventh tier magic! Not even the Grand Mage can cast it! Ahaha! This is our trump card!"

Nigun belowed in joy as he saw the holy beam strike Ainz.

"Hahahahaha! So this is pain! I This is how it feels to take damage?!" Ainz laughed as he felt a miniscule amount of of HP receding but also regenerating at twice the speed.

His laugh caught Nigun and his companions off guard once again. Making them question reality.

"Now then. It is my turn."

[Black Hole]

A powerful suction formed near the angel as it quickly got sucked into the black hole leaving only fragments of light around it.

"Monster..."
