Chapter 8: Chapter 7: Inside the Director's Office
Lysandra followed the director into his office, Caspian walking silently beside her. An almost palpable tension hung in the air between them, and Lysandra could feel the weight of the director's gaze upon them.
Once inside, the director closed the door and motioned for them to sit. "Let's get to the bottom of this," he said, his voice firm but measured. "Lysandra, you believe Caspian is involved in the murder. Can you explain why?"
Taking a deep breath, Lysandra outlined the clues she had discovered and her suspicions about Caspian's behavior. Caspian listened intently, his expression unreadable.
As soon as she finished, the director turned to Caspian. "And what do you have to say for yourself, Caspian?"
Caspian shrugged, a slight smile playing on his lips. "I don't know what Lysandra is talking about. I'm just a student trying to learn."
The director's eyes narrowed. "I have known you for a while, Caspian. You are not just any student; you have a reputation for being resourceful. I have received reports of your involvement in certain incidents."
Caspian smiled wider, his eyes cold. "I think there's been some sort of misunderstanding, Director. I assure you, I am innocent."
Lysandra's eyes flashed with anger. "Do not lie, Caspian. I know what I have seen."
He raised a hand, silencing her. "Let's not jump to conclusions. We need evidence, not accusations. Lysandra, I want you to continue your investigation, but be careful. If Caspian is indeed involved, we don't know what he's capable of."
As they left the office, a surge of determination coursed through Lysandra's veins. She would prove Caspian's guilt, no matter what it took.
With each step she took away from the director's office, she felt the weight of her mission settle firmly on her shoulders. The stakes were higher than ever, and she was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead in her quest for justice.
