The Apocalyptic Command: A Military Isekai LitRPG

Chapter 54: Cloning Commences

The machine whirred, robotic arms moving back and forth, sliding from side to side as it processed the blood and ready the information and stuff that would be inserted. The room was glowing in a bright and transparent hue of blue. The temperature also seemed to have dropped a few degrees, further cooling the room.

Quagmire, with a smitten expression, overlooked the process with interest. The clanking and clicking of gears and machinery elude a concerto of the entire surroundings, bright blue flashing lights, and cranes and arms' movement.

Precise and efficient is what he could describe it as; there was no wasted movement, no doubts, no pausing. It was really efficient, from the linings and movements, all of it, which is why it was done rather quickly.

Once the process was finished, the machines went silent, and a path opened in front of him. The path then led forward into the center of the building, where rows and columns stretched forward along the way, and in the center was where most of it was placed.

Upon seeing the path, he glanced from left to right, trying to see if there was something else that had changed. He stepped down and walked forward when he confirmed that there was none. He looked from side to side, marveling at the intricate details of the pod. It does not look like anything he has seen after all, not like anything in his past world, or in his current life.

Which is why. The way the pods were done looked mysterious. If it were someone's first time seeing this, they would no doubt link it to something of an occult or something a witch uses, or something like a glorified bed, or what's worse, a glorified coffin.

Nevertheless, within the pod, there was the bluish liquid, and along with it, bubbles formed at the edge where the windows were placed, which was quite interesting, having looked over inside the pods. He found that it was relatively flat.

As he was moving towards the center, the machinery again started to move and whirred. An arm with a protruding stick came out of the top. There was not only one but rather a dozen arms; it hovered for a few moments, then moved and arrived at the twelve pods at the center.

Upon arriving at the center, it once again moved, but this time to the back of the pods. All the while, he watched with interest. The stick came and stabbed the top of the pod. He was quite shocked, to say the least. Upon stabbing, the stick enters and releases a cloud of chemicals or some kind of material. The bluish liquid was stained and started to change color. It goes from a darkish colour, purplish, and into slightly transparent orange.

The liquid was now cloudy, but still a bit transparent. Quagmire walked over and squinted his eyes to see further inside and to focus on his vision. He focused and squinted more, and after a few passing moments, his face turned into one of shock. He saw it forming in real time, cells and its growth. It was growing at a rapid rate.

Shock ran all over his body. He was fascinated by it, but was flabbergasted as to how things were possible, especially inside a machine. Well, he learned a few days ago that asking about his present circumstances was not going to do anything, as what happened to him was already out of this world, anyway.

As he contemplated what he saw, a red light appeared over the top of the pod, which flashed before him, momentarily taking his interest. Upon looking over the top, he saw a set of numbers. Confusion ran through him, so he took a look again. However, this time, one long look at the entire set of numbers.

When he checked again, he found that the set of numbers was actually the time it would take until the cloning process is finished. Upon realizing that the time it would take to finish was going to be long, a few hours at least, which was enough until the end of the current day.

With that in mind, Quagmire decided not to wait and instead gathered and hunted for some food outside. He could order the droids, but he does not want to; he would just order them if he were not able to gather enough. The reason for the hunting was that once the squad of people or clones got out, they would need a massive amount of nourishment, as they would be growing extremely fast for the next few days.

Which is why, in a sense, there should always be food in their mouth for the entire day, as growing from a child into that of an eighteen-year-old boy was going to need a lot of calories and nourishment, especially protein and essential vitamins.

Not only that, but he also needs to hunt some ghouls. As the base would continue to expand, he would need a rather large coffin of gold to splurge on various investments and upgrades. Furthermore, he needs to enhance his current skills, and what better way of enhancing them than actually doing the thing. Instead of dilly-dallying as his base was being built, he might as well earn more money and upgrades. Since he has nothing better to build.

With that in mind, Quagmire brought up the adjutants' interface and checked over his equipment. One by one, he brought it out, and placed the ammunition and grenades in the right pockets, and finally the pistol in his holster. Once again, he left the bolt-action rifle in the inventory as carrying it restricts his movement too much. Moreover, he has the inventory; he might as well take advantage of it.

With the ammunition and equipment packed, he walked over the edge of the forest and finally entered it. He would not really go far. Instead, he would scout the perimeter of the entire base, a few kilometers from the base itself.

He set out with a firm mind and a hope, a hope for a lot of meat and gold.
