Chapter 371: Special Compulsory Task_3
Bobby paused, then continued,
"Your mission this time requires you to serve as a resident wizard in the Roon Kingdom. There, you will assist the Royal Family in solving any supernatural threats that may arise. The assignment is for three years."
After finishing, Bobby passed the detailed mission crystal to Colin, "You can find more detailed information in the crystal."
Colin took the crystal, feeling slightly heavy-hearted.
The Roon Kingdom, located to the south of Neustadt City, is a medium-to-large Subordinate Country directly under the Neustadt Kingdom, at a straight-line distance of about 1,200 kilometers.
More than a thousand kilometers, in his previous country, starting from the very south, it would barely cover less than one-third.
Yet in this world, one would have already passed through many a Kingdom, moving from the bustling Wizard City to more remote areas.
But to be precise, it wasn't really remote, as the Roon Kingdom was one of the five major Subordinate Countries of the Neustadt Kingdom, and not some small country.
The terrain inside the Mainland of the Roon Kingdom is flat, with plenty of land suitable for farming.
Its unique conditions made it the Kingdom among Neustadt's Subordinate Countries that produced the most grain, earning the Roon Kingdom the moniker "Nois's Golden Barley."
In fact, the capital of the Roon Kingdom was also named Golden Barley.
"Master Colin," Bobby thought for a moment and continued to inform Colin of some important matters, "Due to the special nature of the residency assignment, you won't need to complete any compulsory School missions for the next three years."
"However, at the same time, you're required to ensure that you spend at least ninety percent of your time within the borders of the Roon Kingdom."
"As for compensation for the residency assignment, the School will pay out once a year, seven hundred School Contribution Points each time, plus ten thousand Magic Stones."
Colin set down the crystal, nodding calmly.
'Seven hundred contribution points... that's equivalent to doing 3.5 missions in the Extreme North.'
'Ninety percent of the time spent within the Roon Kingdom, which means on average only three days per month can be spent outside the kingdom... A distance of 1,200 kilometers, with my current flying speed, would take roughly four hours to cross.'
Colin silently calculated in his mind; the School's compulsory missions were not to be refused, and now that one had been assigned, he had no choice but to accept.
However, upon further reflection, this residency assignment didn't seem as terrible as he initially thought.
"When will the School Contribution Points for the first assignment be distributed?" He pondered for a moment before continuing to question Bobby.
"They will be distributed upon commencement of the mission, but you can also receive them now if you wish," Bobby replied.
"I'll receive them now," Colin said with a slight smile.
"…Very well, Master Colin." Seeing Colin's smile, Bobby was a little taken aback.
Even he could see that this residency assignment obviously meant sending the wizard before him to some far-flung place… yet Colin could still smile?
From the coveted Miracle City to a medium-sized kingdom... even if the duration was only three years, such a major change in circumstances couldn't be happily accepted by an ordinary wizard...
But after careful thought, Colin's perspective was completely different.
This compulsory mission might unexpectedly be a blessing for him!
First of all, residency tasks are inevitably relaxed in nature; rounding up, it simply meant he had changed his place of magical practice, and he would receive free School Contribution Points each year.
Secondly, the Roon Kingdom was neither too far nor too close, allowing him to keep clear of the conflicts in Neustadt City, yet not so distant that he needed half a month to return.
Additionally, with an average of three days 'vacation' every month, in fact, with his speed, he could easily make a round trip to Neustadt City within those days.
Although a bit troublesome, at least he wouldn't lose the opportunity to access resources in the city, rounding up, it might not be much different from staying in the city right now.
Furthermore, with the implementation of regulations for wizard research and management, the research and practice environment within the city had tightened.
Colin was already considering finding a place outside of Neustadt City to conceal his power while continuing his research.
This would have been troublesome, but once in the Roon Kingdom, everything would be resolved—the place wasn't bound by any security management regulations, and there likely wouldn't be any High Rank Wizards capable of seeing through his disguise!
Having revised his thoughts, Colin's mood completely relaxed, and he even felt somewhat cheerful.
Perhaps life is like that; sometimes, at first glance, something seems bad, but when looked at from another perspective, it might turn out to be a good thing!
