The Blessed Farm Girl Has a Spatial Storage

Chapter 106: Good Friends

Sun Mei was astonished by Zhao Dong's words. "Darling, you're amazing! I never imagined you'd given it so much thought."

"Of course." Zhao Dong smirked proudly. "Things are different here than in our previous world. I have to think more long-term, for you all, for our family."

The couple chatted for a while longer before going to bed.

The next day, Zhao Dong actually built a barbecue grill in the courtyard.

Zhao Zhitong squatted to one side, cupping her chin in her hands, watching Zhao Dong with admiration. When he finished, she quickly ran to the kitchen and brought him some cooled boiled water. "Dad, have some water."

Then, she circled the barbecue grill, her little mouth constantly spouting sweet praises. "Daddy, you're a super-daddy! How do you know how to do everything?"

After drinking the water and listening to the little girl's words, Zhao Dong roared with laughter. "HAHAHA!"

Meanwhile, Sun Mei was in the kitchen, threading meat and vegetables onto bamboo skewers. Zhao Ya kept wanting to help, but Sun Mei, afraid she might prick her hand, had her wash vegetables instead.

Although the barbecue ingredients Sun Mei prepared weren't particularly abundant, there was certainly enough to ensure everyone ate their fill. For meat, there were chicken thighs, chicken breast, chicken skewers, and a whole grilled fish. The vegetables included cabbage, radishes, and water spinach, among others.

She would also stir-fry a large plate of fried snails and, finally, cook three bowls of Liuzhou river snails rice noodle to guarantee the little ones would all be completely full.

Zhao Zhitong had arranged to meet her classmates at noon. So, by the time Sun Mei had all the food ready, it was nearly the appointed time.

Zhao Zhitong excitedly pulled Zhao Yu and Zhao Ya to the gate, ready to welcome her classmates.

However, a quarter of an hour passed. They waited and waited, but no one appeared.

Just then, she spotted several small figures approaching in the distance. Zhao Zhitong thought her classmates had arrived and was about to run excitedly to greet them when she realized the newcomers were Zhao Cai, her older brother Zhao Ji, and her older sister Zhao Yun.

Zhao Zhitong immediately skidded to a halt and turned to go back inside.

But, clearly, Zhao Cai had already seen her.

Zhao Cai deliberately quickened her pace, walked to the Zhao family's gate, and after glancing inside, said with schadenfreude, "Well, well, I heard a certain 'Evil Star' invited her classmates over. Tsk, tsk, look how deserted it is. Don't tell me not a single one showed up? HAHAHA!"

Zhao Zhitong's little face flushed red with anger. "They just haven't arrived yet!"

Zhao Cai shouted gloatingly, "You fool, they're not coming! Everyone knows your family is so poor you can only offer classmates river snails! That filthy, lowly stuff is only fit for your family to eat! We would never touch it!"

Just then, Zhao Ji and Zhao Yun also walked over.

Zhao Ji was thirteen, tall and well-dressed in a fine white robe, his face fair and clear. He looked every bit the young master of a wealthy family, exuding an air of arrogance, and didn't even deign to look directly at Zhao Zhitong or her siblings.

Zhao Yun was eight, the same age as Zhao Ya, but half a head taller.

She wore a pink dress, her hair styled in an exquisite cloud-like bun adorned with a silver hairpin. Years of dancing had given her a graceful, lotus-like gait and an air of gentle composure.

If only there wasn't that fleeting glint of disdain in her eyes when she looked at Zhao Zhitong and the others, this image of hers would have been perfect.

Zhao Yun called out to Zhao Cai, "Let's go. What kind of person are you, and what kind are they? It's the difference between clouds and mud. Don't keep doing things that lower your own standing."

Hearing this, Zhao Cai snorted coldly at Zhao Zhitong, her face full of smugness. "You're right, Sister. I wouldn't deign to speak to lowly creatures from the mud."

By now, Zhao Yu and Zhao Ya had both stepped in front of Zhao Zhitong, glaring at Zhao Cai and her two siblings, looking fiercely protective.

Zhao Zhitong, at this moment, was already rolling up her sleeves, ready to march over and rip Zhao Cai's mouth.

Just then, a girl's cold voice sounded from not too far away.

"'Lowly creatures' this, 'lowly creatures' that, all day long! What a vulgar person you are! Your mouth must stink terribly. I'm afraid you're even worse than the 'lowly creatures' you keep mentioning!"

Everyone looked towards the source of the voice and saw a girl of about six or seven, two boys of the same age, and two servants walking towards them.

The three were none other than Wei Shulan, Qiao Muchen, and Zhao Yue.

Zhao Zhitong instantly lowered the hand she had raised to strike and ran happily towards the trio. "Lanlan!"

The two little friends clasped hands.

Wei Shulan patted Zhao Zhitong's hand comfortingly. "Tongtong, we're here!"

Then, she glared at Zhao Cai's group and declared loudly, "My Tongtong's feast is a very fine affair; not just anyone can come! You nobodies pop out of nowhere and dare to cause trouble at her gate? You'll have to ask if we agree to that first!"

As she spoke, Qiao Muchen and Zhao Yue stepped up to stand beside Zhao Zhitong, staring imposingly at the other group.

Zhao Cai was furious and about to retort when her older sister, Zhao Yun, pulled her back. "That's enough, Cai'er. Grandma is waiting for us. Let's go."

Zhao Ji also shot Zhao Cai a glare, then dragged her away hastily.

Once Zhao Cai and her siblings left, the air seemed to instantly become fresher.

Wei Shulan asked with concern, "Tongtong, they didn't bully you, did they?"

Zhao Zhitong placed her hands on her hips, with the air of a little despot. "Bully me? Hmph! If you all hadn't arrived, I was about to go up and tear her mouth to shreds!"

After the little ones shared a few laughs and jokes,

Zhao Zhitong eagerly pulled Qiao Muchen and the other two into the house. "Quick, come in! My mommy has prepared lots and lots of delicious food!"

In the end, apart from Qiao Muchen, Wei Shulan, and Zhao Yue, none of the other classmates who had said they would come actually showed up.

However, Zhao Zhitong wasn't sad or upset at all.

Grandpa Bai once said, 'It's easy to add flowers to brocade, but difficult to send charcoal in snowy weather.' True friends are rare; to have one or two in a lifetime is already a great fortune.

And now, I have two...

She glanced over at Zhao Yue, who was curiously approaching Zhao Dong, wanting to learn about barbecuing. Alright, three then. I'm already incredibly rich! So, I should be happy.

When Sun Mei brought the stir-fried snails to the table, Qiao Muchen and the other two stared at them, unsure how to begin eating. "Tongtong, are you sure these are actually good?"

Zhao Zhitong nodded vigorously. "Of course! I'll eat one to show you."

She then picked one up with her chopsticks, used a bamboo pick Sun Mei had prepared to neatly extract the meat, and popped it into her mouth.

"It's super fragrant! But don't eat the tail, okay? That's where the river snail's guts are."

Seeing Zhao Zhitong eat one, Qiao Muchen also picked one up, copied her method to extract a piece of meat, and tentatively put it in his mouth.

Nearby, Wei Shulan and Zhao Yue also began to eat.

"Wow! I never expected this to be so delicious!"

"There's no grittiness or sand at all!"

...

The three children were instantly captivated.

The river snails had only been caught the day before and had been left to purge their grit. So, this was also the first time Zhao Cheng, Zhao Yu, and Zhao Ya were eating them. They were all equally astonished, never having imagined these river snails could be so tasty.

"See? See?" Zhao Zhitong was overjoyed. "I told you they were really yummy!"

Just as the children were eating merrily, there was a sudden knock on their front door.

Zhao Zhitong immediately put down her chopsticks. "I'll get the door!"
