The CEO's Wife Is A Demon God's Daughter

Chapter 964 964: Being Possessed

In that dark forest, panic gripped Flint as he realized the gravity of the situation. He couldn't move and Cassie was gripping his neck tightly. He could feel that he was going to pass out soon, and worse, he might die.

Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he desperately gasped for air. The world around him began to blur. Each gasp for breath felt more desperate than the last, and Flint's vision started to dim.

In his weakening state, Flint's mind raced with fear and confusion. 'Why, Cassie? Why? Do you hate me that much?'

Flint thought it was his end. However, before he collapsed, Scarlet suddenly appeared and intervened. "Master! Stop! What are you doing?"

Scarlet's voice echoed in the entire forest. Disbelief could be seen in her fiery eyes. The evil witch instinctively released Flint, dispelling the binding spell she cast on him a while ago. With a limp body, Flint collapsed to the ground.

As he supported himself on the ground, Flint gasped for air, his chest heaving as he coughed violently. Each cough seemed to echo the struggle he had just endured, and his body convulsed as he fought to regain control of his breath. The air, once denied, rushed back into his lungs, and he clutched at his throat, feeling the lingering effects of Cassie's forceful grip.

"It was his fault. I told him to leave me alone but he kept following me here." The evil witch justified her actions. She should be wary of the firefox. Otherwise, Scarlet would notice her disguise.

'Damn! I was almost there. This guy should have died if not for this meddling fox!' The evil witch regrettably lamented in her thought.

Scarlet didn't say a word. She just observed Cassie intently. Something was off with her master. Her master would never hurt Flint like that. She almost killed him. Fortunately, she came on time.

The evil witch could feel the tension building up between Scarlet and her. 'Did she notice something? Is she getting suspicious of me?'

"Go back to the barracks now, Flint!" Scarlet commanded him.

"But I need to talk to Cassie…" Flint reasoned out.

But Scarlet stood firm with her decision. "I said leave us alone."

Flint, still holding his neck, darted his gaze back and forth between Scarlet and Cassie. 'Are they going to argue because of me?' Surprisingly, Scarlet was defending him this time. It was unusual to see Scarlet choosing his side, rather than her master.

'What is happening here?' Flint could also feel the tension.

"Don't make me repeat my words, Flint." Scarlet had become impatient.

Flint had no choice but to obey her. "Okay. I'm leaving. But don't get mad. It was my fault. I apologize for causing trouble." After saying that, Flint turned around, leaving the forest.

"Why are you looking at me like that, Scarlet?" The evil witch resumed her role, mimicking Cassie's tone and gestures as she addressed her firefox.

"You almost killed him," Scarlet retorted with a hint of accusation. "It's not that I care about him. I just found it odd because it was you. You would never lay a finger on him." Scarlet started interrogating Cassie.

Cassie (the evil witch) heaved a deep sigh as she settled onto the ground, leaning against the sturdy tree trunk. She was in her acting mode. She put on a sullen look on her face, making her pitiful in Scarlet's eyes.

She even shed some tears as she mumbled, "Flint is going to confess tonight with the woman he loves. And do you know who is that woman? My Aunt Ella! I felt betrayed. I am frustrated. I lost control and I almost killed him.

I know it's my fault."

Cassie covered her face using both hands as she started to sob. Her body shook as she sobbed. The evil witch was trying to get Scarlet's sympathy so that she would no longer suspect her.

The moment she cried, Scarlet was swayed by her pretentious act. Her doubts started to disappear. "I understand. I know you are in pain. I'm sorry for doubting your actions, Master." Scarlet apologized immediately.

The witch hid her triumphant smile. She succeeded in keeping her disguise. "Tomorrow, you are leaving. Be careful, Master. The Giant Spider and I will stay here to safeguard the barracks and the guardian warriors. Don't think about Flint.

Just focus on your mission." Scarlet reminded her.

"Yes. I know. Thank you, Scarlet." The evil witch felt glad, knowing that this firefox would be left behind. She could do anything she wanted, not worrying about Scarlet finding out her true identity.

She still needed five more days before her soul would fit in Cassie's body. After five days, she would completely possess the body and no one could save Cassie. Staying away from Scarlet was the best choice.

In the meantime, Flint swiftly sought out Liam, putting aside his intention to confess to Ella. There was a more urgent matter at hand—a life-and-death situation for Cassie. He headed straight to Liam's chambers. Fortunately, Liam was there, studying the map and their routes.

"Liam! I need to talk to you!" Flint approached him with urgency in his voice.

Liam looked at him and frowned when he noticed the reddish mark on Flint's neck. "What happened to you?"

Flint instinctively shielded his neck, unwilling to let others discover that Cassie had nearly strangled him to the brink of death. "It's nothing. Just an allergic reaction from the food I ate earlier," he lied.

Liam blinked his eyes, not buying Flint's lie. 'He is lying. I can see the finger marks on his neck. Did someone strangle him?'

"Why do you look anxious? Is there something wrong?" Liam asked him.

Flint immediately held his shoulders and begged, "Please. Stop Cassie. Don't allow her to leave tomorrow. Something bad will happen to her. I think… I saw a vision of her being imprisoned in a dark place."

Liam's expression changed when he heard that. "What? "A vision? Can you provide more details about what you saw? And what triggered it?"

"I touched Cassie and suddenly this vision flashed in my mind. I saw Cassie inside a prison made of crystal, sitting while leaning her back. It was a very quick vision. I couldn't understand it at first. But I thought it might be related in the future. What if this mission will fail and she will be held captive by the enemies." Flint expressed his genuine concern for Cassie.

"She won't listen to me. Only you can stop her," he added.

Liam fell silent for a moment, taking his time to think. "Don't tell me… It was Cassie who did that to you?" Liam pointed his finger at the red marks on Flint's neck.

Flint hesitated for a moment. He was about to lie but Liam spoke again. "You have to be honest with me, Flint, so that I can figure out what is happening. Did Cassie hurt you?"

Flint heaved a sigh of defeat. He bobbed his head without looking at Liam's eyes. "Don't blame her. It's my fault for bothering her. She got mad at me and lost control." Flint decided to defend Cassie.

But Liam's stare had a powerful effect on him, inducing intense pressure with just a single look.

"Fine. I didn't expect her to be so violent. I… I almost die if not for Scarlet's help." Flint finally admitted.

"That's weird. Why do I feel like Cassie is being possessed," Liam uttered his deduction.
