Outside the Guildmaster’s office, Guru and Gidan exchanged a look.

Inside, Jurim was on a call with the Minister of National Defense.
“Yes. We’ll have everything ready on time. Understood.”
Even the Defense Minister was ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) now involved.

And it wasn’t just that—it had gone global.
Jurim tapped the edge of the gift box sent from the presidential office with his long fingers.
As the call neared its end, Gidan glanced at Guru as if to ask, You ready? Guru gave a small nod.

The two had been summoned to the Guildmaster’s office, and they were bracing themselves.
From past experience, even if the results were good, if something got too big—it usually meant a scolding.
Gidan swung the door open, and Guru creaked in behind him like a wind-up toy.
Jurim, putting down the receiver, looked at the deflated pair with a hint of confusion.

The kids—like it was second nature—knelt on the floor in front of his desk.
Jurim tilted his head.
“Why are you doing that?”

“Uh…”
Gidan let out a weak groan as he slowly lowered his forehead to the floor.
Jurim’s brow furrowed.

“…!”
Seeing Gidan do it, Guru quickly followed suit and bowed her head.
Jurim darted forward and caught her forehead with his hand before it hit the floor.

“Who told you to do that?!”
“Hing.”
Guru looked up at Jurim with a pout forming under her chin.

Gidan was just as shriveled with guilt.
Jurim let out a long sigh in front of the two on the verge of tears. Then, looking like he hated to say it, he praised them.
“Good job.”

“...Huh?”
“Ehh?”
Honestly, he wished they’d just done nothing.
He’d already anticipated that one day, Guru would run into the guild members as Jjapso.

She wandered the office in her teddy bear suit whenever she found a gap in security. The real miracle was that she hadn’t been discovered sooner.
There was a reason why he publicly revealed that Jjapso was affiliated with Hyeonak.
'I didn’t think she’d enjoy Hunter life this much, though.'

It had gotten out of hand, sure—but he had only just promised to support her Hunter activities.
And if they accepted Guru as a member of the guild, then this was undeniably a benefit to the guild.
Credit where it’s due.

“Is da chick okway?”
As if unable to believe the praise, Guru looked up and asked for confirmation.
“Uh…”

Jurim chose his words carefully, trying to say something cool to a five-year-old with way too much swagger.
“Yeah. It was awesome.”
THUMP—!

Guru clapped both hands over her mouth and her eyes sparkled.
He, he said it was awe-some!
Daddy said Guru was awesome!

Thump-thump! Her heart was pounding out of her chest.
He praised me! He said Guru’s awesome!
It felt like fireworks were going off inside her.

“That’s why you didn’t need to do that.”
Jurim lightly flicked the tiny forehead trying to smack into the floor.
Guru giggled and rubbed the spot he flicked.

“But wast time you got mad at meee…”
“That’s ‘cause you ran off to a dungeon without saying a word. Dangerously.”
Jurim’s frown deepened as he recalled the time Guru and Gidan went off to fight an S-Rank monster, Malikian, on their own.

“That time, you did wrong or not?”
“…!”
Guru instinctively replied under Jurim’s sharp gaze.

“D-Did… bad…”
“Don’t ever do that again.”
“Nuuhh…”

Guru puffed out her cheeks in protest after her lackluster reply.
'Now he’s mad again! So mean!'
'All my fireworks went out…'

Just a moment ago everything was warm and exciting.
Guru narrowed her eyes into half-moons and stuck out her lip in rebellion.
“You said Guru was awe-some and den you got mad again. Too meaan.”

Jurim couldn’t help but let out a chuckle and pulled her into a hug.
“You did great, you really did.”
“Buuut you always yeww at meee…”

“No, I don’t. When did I?”
“You said good job, den said did bad…”
“You did do bad.”

“Now you gotta give Guru wots an’ wots of pwaise.”
“Okay.”
“Mmm.”

Jurim soothed and cuddled the grumbling Guru, then shot a glare at Gidan.
“Stop laughing.”
“Yessir.”

Gidan zipped his lips shut with a motion. Jurim smirked, then tossed him the chick drone.
Gidan caught it with both hands, blinking dumbly.
“Why are you giving this to me…?”

“You’re going to the Ministry of Defense to film the demo video. Everything’s ready—just bring your body.”
“Oh!”
It was great news for Guru—but a bolt from the blue for Gidan.

“Whaaaat?!”
“You’re the one who started this.”
“No, it’s cause Guru came and Yumin noona just grabbed her and made us do it…”

Jurim checked his watch.
“This conversation ends here. Guru needs to eat dinner.”
“Ah—!”

[CN - Lee Soyeon: “Korea’s hysterics are just embarrassing. Nothing can be trusted until an official demo…”]
[CN - Lee Soyeon: “Don’t confuse a railgun with a coilgun… Korea doesn’t have that kind of tech yet.”]
Although countries around the world were reacting with curiosity and wariness, Lee Soyeon—who had defected to China—was especially vocal, issuing statements nearly every day.

She first questioned the footage’s authenticity, insisting it wasn’t believable until the official demo. Then, once a demo date was set, she downplayed it by saying it must be a coilgun, not a railgun.
Though the mechanisms were similar, a coilgun’s power was nowhere near that of a railgun.
At any rate, these complaints and shots were a clear sign that she couldn’t stand the fact that Korea’s tech was not only intact—but potentially soaring even higher.

She hadn’t even secured her position in China yet. She couldn’t afford to be pushed out.
And so, the day of the demo approached.
