The Depressed Extra of The Academy

Chapter 10: Ch9 - The Evaluation Examination

The academy had four evaluation exams. The first being the written test. In which I barely studied for.

'What does this even mean? I should've studied more...'

I painstakingly gave the best answers I could muster. I was a straight A student in my past life so it wouldn't be too bad, right?

'Luckily some of these are relatively basic.'

And then came the second test, the mana evaluation test.

They asked relatively simple things and then tested out your mana.

I was also given a series of mana control tests, and etcetera.

This was by far the easiest test out of the four but then came the physical test.

With my daily routine, the physical test was relatively easy. This test was a test of your limits, and I swear I was asked to do so many pushups I almost passed out.

Then of course came the final examination. The Ranking Examination.

The ranking exam was simple, it was a tournament style fight. We were all put in sections based on our previous scores. The bronze, silver, gold, and diamond sections.

Of course, I was in the diamond section with all the main characters.

I looked around at all the faces I could recognize, but my eyes lingered on a certain person.

'Koen Levensky, the main character of the novel.'

He was the most handsome face I've seen. Dark black hair and ocean-like blue eyes. He stood out in any crowd no matter what. He kept to himself silently looking at the fights.

Though the rest of the cast didn't lack in appearance. It looked like a k-pop group or a model shoot.

Cecilia was sitting somewhere on my left talking to a girl with long, elegant blue hair that ran down her back. Skin as white as snow and eyes that looked like a beautiful night sky.

A girl with short dark brown hair sat alone too, a small bow leaned against her, unlike those two she radiated cuteness though her beauty still undoubtedly shined through. She was basically a doll with her porcelain-like skin and shorter stature.

Away from everybody sat a quiet boy with dirty blonde hair. He was engrossed in some sort of book. He radiated a gentle atmosphere and even with glasses, his looks made people flock to him.

I swear I could see a certain bright flash out the corner of my eye.

'Did someone just take a photo of us? I mean these guys are practically famous.'

After a long while of standing around looking at fights that ranged from boring to intense to funny.

I mean a guy did accidentally burn his pants off, but

it was time for the diamond section to fight.

No matter what we'd all end up in the top 6.

The matchups were all soon announced, Lillian vs Astria, Koen vs Lucas, and Sen vs Cecilia.

'There's only one match from the novel. I mean I did kind of even it out.'

The staff didn't waste any time and began the matches almost immediately after setting up a stream.

They only streamed out the diamond section to show the best of the academy.

Astria vs Lillian.

Both stood across from each other on the field. One with a bow in hand and the other with a staff, two long-ranged fighters.

"1"

"2"

"3"

"Go!"

The announcer counted them down and Lillian was already on the move using Aura to enhance herself while Astria simply stood on guard.

Arrows flew through the air at Astria, but they never reached her.

[Mana Shield]

They all got deflected by an invisible barrier.

[2nd Art: Multiplicative Archer]

Lillian dashed across the battlefields leaving projections of her as she ran.

Seeing the arrows weren't working, Lillian tried to close more distance.

She dashed at Astria shooting arrows with her projections.

Lillian jumped towards Astria and just when she was a couple of feet from her, she pulled back the string of her bow mid-air.

[Lillian Style: Condensed Projection]

She had shot an arrow reinforced by multiple projections almost point blank at Astria.

The arrow collided with the barrier; sparks of mana flew as the forces collided until the barrier completely shattered.

The arrow was now just a few inches from reaching Astria and just as it was about to reach.

Astria was gone and the arrow hit the floor leaving a small crater.

[Teleport]

Astria appeared at the other end of the arena, but Lillian reacted almost immediately.

She aimed her bow once again and her projections didn't slow down either.

[Lillian Style: Condensed Projection]

Though Astria wasn't just standing there as she began channeling magic.

Jumping through the air Lillian rained down even more arrows as the projections shot their own adding to the destruction.

[1st Art: Multiplicative Shot]

Hundreds of arrows from all directions had burst forth aiming at Astria.

A lion made of a pure orange aura encased Astria; its mane flowed like wind as it guarded Astria.

[1st Art: Pride of Leo]

In front of its majestic aura, all the arrows before her stopped as if it was in fear.

Alongside the Lion, Astria stood, and that aura of bright orange flowed encasing itself in a ball before Astria.

Lillian kept shooting arrow after arrow trying to break through the lion.

[Lillian Style: Condensed Projection]

She reinforced her arrows with her projection art, but no arrow made it past that flowing lion.

A loud boom ran throughout the stadium as Astria and the lion launched their attack.

A flowing ball of that same orange aura. Mana was spiraling out as if it was a mini tornado and that mini tornado was dead set on Lillian.

Lillian dodged and dashed around the ball, but the will of Astria's summon was rooted inside that attack.

So, no matter how much she ran, it followed her and against an attack like that Lillian had no choice but to surrender....

or so I thought. Lillian kept running and running dashing throughout the stadium with the ball a couple of meters from her.

Lillian ran and ran jumping against the wall, swapping around with her projection, she was desperately running.

Astria had to continuously pour mana into the attack for it to have tracking qualities.

Lillian watched her like a hawk as she ran across the walls.

She had no choice, but to run because the lion still stood guarding Astria.

She pushed off the wall and flipped her body 180 mid-air, and I knew what she was about to do.

She had already used this skill once before, her unique skill [Commandment]. In exchange for something she gains something else.

"Don't you dare underestimate me."

She said resolutely while pulling back the string of her bow.

"Blast forth, Arrow of Brilliant Light shine past all my obstacles."

[Lillian Style: Arrow of Brilliant Light]

Of course, Astria's attack didn't slow down as it was just a few feet from Lillian's demise.

'I wonder what else she's exchanging. She's already under four conditions that I can see, but to use that ability she needs at least 7 right now.'

A brilliant streak of light shined across the field as if a shooting star had been shot from her bow.

The lion simply stood in front of that dazzling light, not faltering for even a second.

And that arrow shot threw the lion bursting forth as if nothing had stood in its way.

And Astria undoubtedly didn't have enough mana to use teleport and that brilliant shooting star passed through her.

On the other side of the stadium, Lillian took the full impact of Astria's attack, so she wasn't doing much better.

"A draw! Both fighters are unable to continue fighting!"

The announcer yelled into the mic as all the students stood in shock.

Nobody expected that Lillian Whenry, a no-name commoner could rival Astria Starlium, a well-known genius coming from a ducal family.

And thus, Lillian Whenry gained the title of "The Rising Star." A title that showed her rise to stardom.

Author's Note:

I'm not that good at fight scenes, but I'm trying to improve so bare with me for this tournament.
