Chapter 11: Chapter 10: The Invitation
Raizen leaned against the academy courtyard's railing, gazing at the cityscape beyond. The whispers and stares hadn't stopped since his victory over Darius, and now, he wasn't just an anomaly—he was a target.
The system's notification still lingered in his mind.
[Quest Progress: Claim Selene Asakura – Affinity Increased]
He wasn't sure what that truly meant yet, but Selene had begun to see him in a different light. That much was clear. And after today, so had the rest of the academy.
A slow clap echoed from behind him.
"You really made waves, didn't you?"
Raizen turned to see a young man leaning against a pillar, dressed in an expensive black coat lined with golden trim—a telltale mark of an aristocratic lineage. His jet-black hair and piercing crimson eyes made him stand out, but what set him apart even more was his demeanor—relaxed, confident, and completely unbothered by the tension that had gripped the school.
"Who's asking?" Raizen said, keeping his stance neutral.
The young man smirked. "Leon Veyron. And unlike Darius, I'm not here to pick a fight."
Raizen narrowed his eyes. House Veyron was one of the most powerful families on Eros-7, known for their influence in both business and military sectors.
"What do you want?"
Leon gestured toward a nearby bench. "Just to talk. I make it a habit to keep an eye on rising talent."
Raizen hesitated before sitting. He wasn't naive—this wasn't just small talk. Leon had an agenda.
"You just embarrassed House Valen," Leon said casually. "That's going to cause ripples. But more than that, you proved you're not just another commoner. That interests me."
Raizen crossed his arms. "So, what? You want me to work for you?"
Leon chuckled. "Nothing so crude. Think of it as an invitation. You've proven yourself against one of the elite families. That means you've earned the right to step into our world."
Raizen frowned. "And what does 'stepping in' mean, exactly?"
Leon's expression sharpened. "Connections. Resources. Protection. You're strong, but strength alone won't get you off this planet. Not unless you play the game."
Raizen stayed silent. He knew Leon was right. As much as he hated it, raw power would only take him so far in a world where the rich controlled everything.
The system chimed.
[New Quest Acquired: Enter the Upper Circle]

Raizen let out a slow breath. This wasn't just about fighting anymore.
Leon smirked, sensing his contemplation. "Take your time. But don't take too long. The moment House Valen moves, you'll need more than just fists to survive."
As Leon walked away, Raizen clenched his fists. The game had begun.
