The Draconic System: Rise of To Ascendance

Chapter 27: Chapter 26: Planning the Heist

Raizen leaned against the cold metal shelves of the Inner Vault, reviewing the details of the heist with a keen eye. The House Valen storage facility was located in a high-security sector of the academy's trade district. Gaining access wouldn't be easy, but the reward—a mysterious off-world artifact—was worth the risk.

The merchant, still smirking from their earlier deal, handed Raizen a holo-pad. "Here's what we know. The shipment arrives in three days and will be stored in their secured warehouse before transport. It's guarded round the clock, and only authorized personnel can access it."

Raizen studied the blueprints flashing across the display. The security layout was tight—patrolling guards, surveillance drones, and biometric locks at key entry points. He exhaled slowly. This was going to require finesse.

"Any inside help?" Raizen asked.

The merchant chuckled. "This is House Valen, kid. They don't trust anyone outside their inner circle. But… I do have a contact who might be able to slip you a passcode for one of the lower security levels. That gets you inside, but from there, you're on your own."

Raizen nodded. "That's a start."

The system chimed softly.

[Mission Updated: The Heist]

Objective: Formulate a plan to infiltrate the storage facility.

Optional: Secure additional allies to increase success rate.

Reward: Access to the artifact.

Raizen rubbed his chin, running scenarios through his mind. He needed options—entry points, distractions, and an escape route.

He pushed off the shelf and turned to the merchant. "I'll need more than just a passcode. I need equipment—something that lets me move unseen."

The merchant raised an eyebrow before rummaging through a nearby crate. After a moment, he pulled out a sleek, matte-black bodysuit lined with faint hexagonal patterns. "This is a stealth-weave suit. Light armor, dampens sound, and disrupts heat signatures. It won't make you invisible, but it'll give you an edge."

Raizen smirked, taking the suit. That was exactly what he needed.

"Now," he said, "I just need a distraction."

The merchant grinned. "Lucky for you, I've got just the thing."

He motioned toward a storage container and flipped it open, revealing a small drone fitted with a compact EMP charge. "This little beauty can knock out security cameras and disable electronic locks within a limited radius. Give it a short command delay, and it'll cause a perfect power disruption just long enough for you to slip in unnoticed."

Raizen inspected the drone, nodding in approval. "I'll need it programmed for remote activation. I won't have time to manually trigger it once I'm in."

The merchant smirked. "Consider it done."

Raizen crossed his arms. "One last thing. I need an escape plan. A quiet one."

The merchant's expression turned thoughtful before he tapped his holo-pad and sent data to Raizen's system. "There's an old waste tunnel that runs beneath the facility. It's risky—half collapsed, and probably crawling with vermin—but it's off-grid. If things go sideways, that's your best bet."

Raizen exhaled, reviewing the final pieces of his plan. Stealth entry, controlled disruption, and an emergency escape route. It wasn't perfect, but it was doable.

The system chimed again.
