Chapter 1914: Just in time
At the bottom of the massive crater formed by the fall of the Primarch of Conquest Leviathan lay Cain.
His body was shattered.
His skin had been burned raw, his muscles pulverized, his bones splintered beyond recognition. Even his internal organs teetered on the edge of complete collapse, and his Sacred Organs that had been tempered over and over again by cosmic forces had suffered grievous damage. By all accounts, he stood with one foot in the grave and the other barely hanging on.
And yet, despite that devastating state, Cain's eyes flickered open. Thanks to the A.I. Chip Module still active within him, he could still see. He could still hear.
He watched the exchange between the warriors of the Scarlet Path and the triumphant but wounded Archdeities, and even with his body in ruin, a small smile tugged at the corners of his bloodied lips. That smile only grew stronger when a voice echoed gently in his mind.
"Sorry for the delay."
"Don't worry. Actually… you made it just in time."
...
Up above, in the highest sky, the World Breaker and the Lord of the Last Step stared in disbelief at the warriors of the Scarlet Path.
Each of them—every single one—had rejected their offer.
Not one knee had bent.
Not one head had bowed.
They were ready to die before they would serve.
For a brief moment, shock gripped the two Archdeities, but it was soon eclipsed by a cold, rising fury. Their energy began to surge, filling the skies with rumbling thunder and flashing divine light.
They had offered mercy.
They had offered servitude and the chance of survival.
And they had been denied by those they deemed insects.
Soon, people all over the world will know this, and they will become laughing stocks.
The aura of the two Archdeities became monstrous, swirling with divine wrath. The World Breaker's body began to glow like the surface of a sun, while Marcus's steps bent the sky beneath him.
But before their fury could be unleashed—
"RUMBLE!"
The Everlife Continent trembled.
A new, potent force surged into existence. A massive psychic pressure bloomed across the battlefield, targeting the trio of Archdeities.
Azan, Marcus, and Divine Calamity froze, brows furrowed as confusion washed over them.
That pressure... It was familiar—a World Will.
But that didn't make sense. They had done nothing to be targeted by the Everstrife Empyrean World Will. It should not mark them as enemies. Yet the pressure they felt was far weaker—less like the full planetary World Will and more like... something localized.
Almost as if the continent itself had a will.
Before they could figure out what was happening, their eyes turned to the crater.
And they saw him.
Cain was rising.
A tide of healing power surged from within his soul, flowing through his devastated body. Glowing light coursed through his veins like rivers of starlight, and his Sacred Organs began to restore themselves.
Bone reformed.
Muscle regenerated.
Skin knit together.
He was healing at a speed no deity should be capable of.
Cain smiled again, wider this time, as he felt his body rebuild itself from ruin. But it didn't last. The robotic voice of the Absolute Lifeform System echoed in his mind.
[Gluttony Module's True Cosmic Body Nurturing Tool has consumed 9,743 SDF... There is no more SDF left to consume. Tool has halted.]
Cain exhaled, eyes narrowing with acceptance.
"All that SDF… and it still couldn't bring me to my peak."
It was a bitter pill, but he nodded with resolve.
"I was at death's door… and now I'm at 75%. That's good enough."
He raised his head.
Up above, the trio of Archdeities stared down at him in horror. Their eyes were filled with confusion and disbelief. How could a man so utterly destroyed have healed so rapidly?
Of course, Cain gave no explanation.
Instead, he began to ascend. Slowly, but with unshakable purpose. Rising higher and higher into the sky, until he stood face-to-face with them once again.
He clenched his right fist.
"RUMBLE"
The ground beneath trembled once more as the will of the Everlife Continent reacted with even more power, focusing all of it in Cain.
Unlike the artificial energy channeled through the Everlife Formation, this power was pure—ancient, untouched, and sovereign.
It was an ocean of life force, a storm of energy, and a flood of psychic power.
The continent's very essence surged upward, converging with Cain, pouring into his soul, spirit, and body.
The shock in the Archdeities' eyes grew more profound. This wasn't supposed to happen. World Wills empowering cultivators only happen in a small world, and never in an Empyrean World. They could not understand how Cain was interacting with the Everstrife World Will.
But Cain wasn't channeling a planet's will.
He was summoning the force of a single continent.
The Everlife Continent had become his ally as the one in control of it was no other than his old friend, Ao.
Azan and Marcus exchanged glances.
They didn't understand what was happening. Their instincts—finely honed across countless wars—screamed at them that what stood before them was no longer something they could comprehend or defy.
And for the first time since they reached this battlefield…
The idea of running away crossed their minds.
But before they could act—
"If you leave now…"
The words came like a lash, spoken by Divine Calamity as he stepped forward.
"…you'll only delay the inevitable."
The duo turned toward him in surprise.
They had not expected him—weak-willed, prideful, cowardly Divine Calamity—to make a stand.
But his eyes, for once, were filled with clarity.
He had realized the truth. If they failed here… if Cain survived this… no corner of the Empyrean World would be safe from his return.
"He's still badly wounded," Divine Calamity said, his voice shaking but urgent. "And even if the Everlife Continent empowers him, its enchantment is only equal to the energy of a powerful ArchDeity. If we fight together, we can kill him."
Azan and Marcus didn't reply immediately. Their hands were clenched. Their gazes locked on Cain, who now hovered before them like a rising storm, the power of the continent flowing into him.
They were uncertain.
But what came next made their decision very easy.
