The Extra Seeks Chaos

Chapter 161: Journey Towards Rainfall City

The carriages moved through the path in the forest, heading towards their different destinations.

Some had already gone hours ago, and it was the last set that was going now. The carriage Arin and Lina were seated in was among the last set of carriages.

Some of the students were discussing among themselves, while some were just watching the forest in silence.

"Arin," Lina said as she nudged him with her shoulder. "Your facial expression isn't nice at all."

She had a worried expression as she stared at him.

Arin forced a smile before looking at her.

"I'm fine, I'm just remembering what happened yesterday."

Lina nodded her head. "Oh, okay. It was really surprising..... I mean, who would have expected the Vampires to suddenly show up?"

"True," Arin said. "Well, at least, Principal Orion has assured us that he'll make sure nothing like this happens again."

The carriage continued moving until it finally exited the forest, and the students were greeted with a meadow terrain.

As always, it was peaceful. The gentle breeze passing by, making the grasses sway slightly. The greenery was such a peaceful sight, and the students couldn't help but close their eyes and take deep breaths.

Finally, the carriages reached the gate in the distance. The gate of Starshine City. This was the same city where the expedition for Arin's class and another class took place.

All the carriages would certainly pass through Starshine City because it led to all other cities.

It wasn't like there weren't other routes, but in the end, this was the most used route, and it was the route almost everyone was familiar with.

And since the carriages were all coming from the Academy, they would only be able to pass Starshine City to get to the other cities.

After a short conversation between the teacher in charge of the carriage and the guard in charge of the gate, the guard opened the gate, and all the carriages were allowed to pass.

The carriages levitated into the city, earning looks from the passersby. The students were already used to this because the same thing happened in each of the cities where the expedition took place.

A few minutes later, the carriages passed Clearsky Forest, heading towards the gate in the distance.

'I think the carriages will start branching off from here,' Arin thought.

And just like he thought, as soon as the carriages passed the gate and exited the city, they began branching off.

Some moved to the right, some continued moving forward, while some moved to the left.

The carriages that led to Rainfall City and two other cities moved to the left.

Arin closed his eyes, enjoying the cool breeze in the wasteland-like terrain the carriage was passing.

His mind drifted to Kiara as a slight frown appeared on his face.

'I still don't get it.....' he thought. 'That mother she always kept saying.....'

He genuinely had a bad feeling about it. And her shocked expression when she found out that he was a Vampire, and the way she suddenly disappeared even made it more worrying.

"At least, we're sure of two things," Seraphine said. "Firstly, she's certainly not normal, and secondly, she isn't a Vampire."

"True," Arin said. "But then, what exactly is she? Because I'm sure she isn't human."

With no answer to that question, Arin decided to put that at the back of his mind for now and think of how he was going to cope with his 'certainly not normal' family.

The journey continued, with the carriage stopping occasionally for the students to rest a bit and ease themselves.

A few hours later, the carriages had already passed through two more cities. By now, the number of carriages had reduced. Some had reached their destination, while some branched off in another direction.

"We're almost there," Lina said excitedly as she shook Arin as if expecting a reaction from him.

Arin just smiled wryly as he nodded. "Uhm... Yay, we're almost there..."

Lina pouted. "That was certainly fake!"

Finally.....

WROOM!

The carriage that was levitating began descending with a soft hum before its wheels finally touched the ground.

The carriage landed just in front of Rainfall City, with two other carriages behind it.

These carriages also carried students whose destination was Rainfall City. After all, one carriage wouldn't have been enough to carry all the students who came from Rainfall City.

The male teacher exchanged words with the guards before turning to look at the students.

"Okay," he began. "Your parents have already been informed about your arrival, so wait here. They'll either come to pick you up by themselves, or they'll send a carriage to pick you."

A girl scoffed as she whispered, "What are we? Little children?"

The teacher's expression suddenly turned fierce as he gazed at the girl. "Is that clear.....?"

His voice was deep and commanding, making almost all the students gulp hard.

"Yes, Sir!"

The girl's eyes widened slightly. 'H... He heard me?' Experience more tales on My Virtual Library Empire

With that, the man and the other two teachers in charge of the carriages left, leaving the students with the guards.

'I guess that teacher is a Sound Element Mage,' Arin thought.

As time went by, the students began reducing. Just like the teacher said, some were taken home by their parents, while some were taken home by carriages that their parents paid to pick them up.

All in all, it was an emotional rollercoaster. Both the parents and their child or children would instantly burst into tears as they hugged each other for minutes before leaving. Though, some of them didn't even shed a single tear.

'Maybe they know how to control their emotions, or they don't even miss each other,' Arin thought.

Arin, Lina, and some other students were still waiting.

Suddenly, a carriage that looked like its life was hanging by a single thread arrived, stopping in front of Arin and Lina.

The wheels of the carriage were insanely noisy, and the wood creaked with every movement.

The interior of the carriage wasn't any better.

The man controlling the carriage stared at Arin and Lina as he instantly smiled, flashing his deep yellow teeth.

"Hahaha! Your uncle, Greenbrow, the great man of fashion, has come to pick up his nephew and niece!"

Arin smiled wryly. 'It has begun.....'
