The Extra Seeks Chaos

Chapter 233: Tessa

Riya's expression darkened.

"What the hell...?"

Arin also looked surprised.

His hair, which was getting neatly trimmed by Riya, suddenly began growing back.

The long white hair had been trimmed to almost half before, but it suddenly began growing back.

The strands formed back, and within seconds, Arin's long white hair was back to the way it originally was.

Arin raised a brow.

"I guess my healing abilities also apply to my hair..."

Riya's brows twitched slightly, but well, there was nothing she could do about it.

Though, Arin was no longer thinking about the hair. Instead, he was thinking about what Riya said before his hair began growing back.

'What she said... It was just a prank, right?'

"I guess you've gotten used to fighting with the long hair, right?" Riya suddenly said, snapping Arin out of his thoughts.

Arin blinked.

"Yes... It won't be much of a problem."

Riya nodded.

She stared at Arin for a few seconds, and before he could even say anything, she suddenly jumped down.

She landed on the ground swiftly and began walking towards the building where the rooms were.

"What the hell just happened?"

Arin stared at the moon, trying to distract himself from his thoughts.

A few seconds later, he changed back to his normal human form, and his long white hair was replaced with short brown hair.

"I guess I should go back now..." Arin murmured to himself.

But just as he was about to stand up, he suddenly saw someone approaching.

With his enhanced eyesight, he instantly realized that it was Tessa.

"First Riya, now Tessa?" Arin grumbled as he frowned slightly. "Aren't they supposed to be sleeping?"

Tessa reached the building and looked up at Arin.

Her black bluish-pink hair fluttered and her blue eyes were fixated on him.

Calmly, she spoke.

"Hey, get me up there..."

Her voice was low, but she knew that Chaos would hear her.

Arin sighed.

He stood up and looked down towards her before stretching out his right hand.

"Jump," he said.

Tessa nodded and jumped up.

As soon as she jumped up, a Water Bubble instantly enveloped her.

The Water Bubble wasn't too big... It was just big enough to surround her.

Arin then began controlling the Water Bubble, moving it upwards.

He could easily control his Water Bubble because he was the one who made it with his own Mana, so if he controlled his Water Bubble to move upwards, anything inside the Water Bubble would also move upwards. Though, he would be able to feel the weight of said thing.

Finally, the Water Bubble arrived on the rooftop with Tessa inside it.

Arin deactivated the Spell, releasing Tessa.

"You're quite heavy, you know. Just how much do you weigh?"

Tessa pouted as she slapped Chaos's back.

"Don't ask a lady about her weight..."

"Yeah, yeah," Arin rolled his eyes.

It was almost as if the conversation he had with Riya was repeating.

"Couldn't sleep?" Arin asked as he sat down at the edge of the rooftop again.

Tessa sat down beside him.

"Yes, it's just... A lot is on my mind..."

Arin glanced at her.

"Anything you wanna talk about?"

Tessa smiled lightly and shook her head. "Hmm, I guess I'll be able to handle them."

Arin nodded and continued staring at the moon.

They sat in silence for over a minute, and during that time, Tessa kept twiddling her fingers.

Arin knew what this meant, but since Tessa said she would be able to handle it, he let her be.

Suddenly, Tessa cleared her throat, breaking the silence.

Arin continued staring at the moon, waiting to see if she would say anything.

And she did.

"I'm in love with someone."

Arin almost coughed as soon as he heard what she said.

'Out of all things, this was what she decided to tell me...!?'

Though, he still felt the need to listen to her. After all, she had finally decided to get something off her chest.

Arin smiled.

"Oh, that's great. What's his name?"

Tessa averted her gaze from Chaos and stared at the moon.

"H-his name is... Arin."

"Eh? I mean, wow... Lucky guy."

Arin currently sounded as calm as a lake, but his thoughts were in turmoil.

'What the actual fuck is going on!? In love with Arin...? I mean, in love with me!? Why? How!?'

Tessa chuckled. "I guess I'm the one who's lucky..."

Arin maintained his calm demeanor as he folded his arms.

"That's great," he said shortly.

Though, it didn't seem like Tessa was planning on ending the conversation.

"He's also a student at Greenfield Academy," she said as she stared at Chaos. "And you know what I like about him?"

"No, I don't," Arin said, trying to sound curious.

He didn't want it to look like he wasn't interested at all in what she was saying.

Tessa smiled as she adjusted her sitting position. She was now facing Arin.

"Alright, first of all, we met each other when I was asked to supervise him on a mission. Remember, I told you that I once came to this village with someone. He was the person I was talking about."

"I see..." Arin said as he nodded.

"The villagers waved at us when we were leaving, but above all, it was the discussion the both of us had in the carriage that started it all."

Arin continued nodding, making it look like he was paying attention.

Tessa continued,

"We talked about how we couldn't wait for the holiday to arrive, and from there, I scolded him for not bringing health potions to a mission.

What I'm trying to say is that, for the first time, I genuinely laughed while having a fun day with someone."

Tessa's eyes became distant as she stared at the moon.

It was as if she was remembering everything.

"He didn't look at me with eyes of admiration. Rather, he looked at me with the eyes of a friend... He was calm... Too calm. He was not scared to talk to me."

At this point, Tessa was already talking as if she was in a trance.

"Our conversation just flowed smoothly, and ever since that day, I found myself always wanting to see him."

She glanced at Chaos again.

"In a way, he was the first friend I ever made. I felt something.... Something I couldn't explain.

And with time, after discussing with him more and thinking deeply about everything, I realized it..."

Her blue eyes flickered.

"I was in love..."

Arin smiled. "That's touching...."

Tessa nodded as she pursed her lips.

"But I found out something."

Arin raised a brow. "What did you find out?"

Tessa stared at Chaos. Her eyes suddenly widened as if she was about to reveal a big secret.

"... I found out that he had a secret identity..."

A look of shock instantly appeared on Arin's face.

"Woah... Are you serious?"

Tessa nodded.

"Yes... When he's in his secret identity form, he wears a black cloak and this very menacing black mask."

Arin resisted the urge to check what he was wearing as soon as he heard what Tessa said.

"Hnm, and did you tell him about it?" He asked, gaslighting himself into thinking that he wasn't wearing the exact thing Tessa just described.

Tessa shrugged.

"Yeah, I eventually told him that I know about his secret identity, but..."

She leaned forward, looking at Chaos straight in the eyes before whispering, "guess what he did."

"What?" Arin asked.

"He denied it."

Arin smiled wryly. "Wow... He must be a really pro liar."

Tessa was quite confused after hearing the word "pro" but she ignored it.

"Yes, he's one big fat liar," Tessa said. "He even pretended like he didn't understand what I was saying."

Arin shook his head.

"Wow. That went too far."

Tessa kept leaning forward, making Arin lean backward.

Her blue eyes were locked on his as she spoke

"Hey, guess what..."

Arin gulped.

"What...?"

Tessa leaned forward again, making Arin lean back again. This time, Arin's back was almost touching the floor of the rooftop.

"Even as we speak, he's right here and he's still denying it..."

Arin's eyes quickly darted from left to right.

"But I don't see him anywhere..."

At this point, Tessa couldn't take it anymore.

Her right hand instantly flew out, and then...

PA!

She slapped Arin.

The slap was so hard that even with his mask, he could still feel a slight ting on his face.

Tears threatened to fall from Tessa's eyes as she glared at Arin.

"That's enough, okay... That's enough," she muttered as she began sobbing.

Arin sighed as he watched Tessa lower her head.

'I guess I went too far,' Arin thought.

He didn't have any reason to hide his identity anymore. After all, he had already realized that there was a high chance that Tessa already knew his identity.

He didn't know that him still lying about it would hurt her this much.

But now, he no longer needed to lie...

And because of that....

"Tessa... Raise your head..."
