Chapter 14 - substitute romance 14
The little girl who came with Yu Huan had even less stamina than she did. After playing around for a while yesterday, her back and legs hurt today and she didn’t want to go out at all.
So Yu Huan wandered around the streets near the hotel by herself.
It was almost noon when she returned, carrying a bouquet of fresh flowers she had bought from a small shop on the street, octopus balls and fish shao mai, and wearing a bracelet with a bundle of colourful shells on her wrist.
The freshly made shumai had an enticing aroma. Almost at the hotel entrance, she couldn’t resist the temptation. With flowers in one arm, she reached for the bag of shumai with the other.
After taking a bite, the fish filling was tender and juicy. Although it was still a little hot and she had to keep blowing on it, she found it delicious.
Suddenly she heard footsteps approaching. The bouquet in front of her face partially obscured her view, and she could vaguely make out the tall, slender figure of a person in a neat, indifferent suit.
The bouquet was taken by a hand, followed by a voice in a distinctly low tone. A soft ‘glutton’ came from it.
Qin Yunye had thought of countless ways for them to meet, but never imagined that the first thing he would see when he arrived would be the little girl eating in front of the hotel entrance. She was both real and cute, and she was so helpless.
Huh? Huh! Why are you here?’ Yu Huan froze for two seconds before realising that the person in front of her was the real Qin Yunye.
‘I wanted to.’
Qin Yunye said haughtily, only uttering two words and not letting this guy know how long he had been thinking about her.
–
Qin Yunye’s room was one floor above theirs.
Yu Huan was self-conscious, and during the days she had been at home, she had been ‘careless at work’ and not quite up to the original owner’s persona, risking a slight fall.
So she was particularly enthusiastic, and the flowers she had originally intended to take to her young friend were given to Qin Yunye.
When I bought the flowers, I was thinking of you buying them,” the young girl said with endless flowery words.
He knew that he couldn’t trust her, but if he really felt that way, why didn’t he even call him from time to time? But how could he blame the playful little girl, and he himself had prepared countless excuses to exonerate her.
Really?
He asked in return, but a barely perceptible smile appeared in his eyes at the closeness of the little girl.
This kind of expression, with no limit of tolerance, an expression that only comes from loving every little bit of you, made Yu Huan, who suddenly raised her head, look dumbfounded.
She suddenly got stuck, forgot what she was thinking, and her mouth became clumsy. Following an elusive trace of reason, she put down everything in her hands and moved closer to Qin Yunye.
Qin Yunye thought she wanted to get close to him, so he reached out his arm to catch her and held her a little closer.
The natural physical contact soothed the emptiness and confusion in her heart.
Yu Huan smelled the familiar scent on Qin Yunye’s body, a light, clean, faint scent of tea. She wondered if it was from his love of tea or the scent in the house, but it was so inviting that she couldn’t help but lean in for a sniff.
Qin Yunye’s fingertips lifted her chin slightly, and the faint scent from her nose became even clearer.
Their eyes met, their breaths mingled, and Qin Yunye kissed her.
–
The perfectly pressed collar that he had worn before entering the room was pulled out by Yu Huan, and the lining was turned inside out, revealing the outline of his firm and toned muscles through the open collar.
Qin Yunye was very pleased. His lips were red, and his deep eyes, which had not yet left that state, were staring intently at the person, with a fierce intensity that made him want to cling to the person no matter what.
However, his hands were warm and restrained, stroking Yu Huan’s back to comfort her.
Yu Huan lay lazily on the sofa, unable to see the person behind her, and could only mutter to herself, ‘Do you really love her that much?
Just now, the look in his eyes made her heart flutter.
Unfortunately, she is only a replacement and can only enjoy this kind of treatment for two years. Oh no, there’s only one and a half years left.
In order to stay in Qin Yunye’s room for a while longer, Yu Huan ordered takeaway food for her little sister who was waiting for her to feed her, and found another excuse to say that she would be late.
As she did so, Qin Yunye kept his eyes on her, and after a long time, he made an inexplicable comment:
‘Little liar.’
–
Where does love really show itself?
Before, Yu Huan couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but after she returned to school and started her internship, she was living off campus when Qin Yunye quietly bought her an apartment.
It was one hundred and forty square metres in a prime location, fully furnished, and the title deed was in her name alone.
The reason for buying the apartment was simply to make it more convenient for her to rest while she worked.
Nobody could refuse.
It was completely because of the love generated by the female lead… Or maybe buying an apartment was just a matter of finger-clicking for the male lead.
Yu Huan rambled on and on, becoming more and more aware of Qin Yunye’s noble and wealthy family background, but she was not greedy.
Greedy female leads don’t end well. As long as she gets the break-up fee, she can leave with a clear conscience.
Yu Huan’s internship was something she arranged herself.
Qin Yunye tried to help her, but she refused.
No one can support her forever.
The male lead will eventually leave for someone else, so she needs to use her skills to support herself even if she falls on hard times.
Oh, and there’s also Song’s parents to support.
Although they don’t necessarily rely on her, Yu Huan really wants to be filial.
So life goes on as usual.
Everyone thinks that Yu Huan is head over heels in love with Qin Yunye, after all, the little girl was after him so much back then.
They’re together now, and the little girl hasn’t changed her mind.
However, the person who is truly entangled in emotions will find flaws in the smallest details.
Even though Qin Yunye had controlled herself to not care, she would still have doubts at some point. The soul in this video would break out of the rational online shell and ask himself, “Does she really like me that much?
There was no answer.
But what reassured Qin Yunye was that the little girl was by his side. Even if she didn’t love him enough at the moment, she would grow to love him in time.
He could always win the little girl’s heart.
–
In the blink of an eye, the university had come to an end.
The people in the dormitory went their separate ways, but they still kept in touch.
Yu Huan and Lin Zhen both got internships at the same company. They were busy every day, getting up early and going to bed late, and often had dark circles under their eyes.
Qin Yunye felt sorry for them and immediately arranged for a nanny to take care of them. He would also visit Yu Huan from time to time, either for a snack or to give her a massage.
Yu Huan was new to the world and had to learn everything, which was very stressful. Sometimes she couldn’t control her emotions, and even though Qin Yunye was there to keep her company, she sometimes found him annoying.
At those times, Qin Yunye would always have a small wound on his body, a corner of his lip bitten open by the young girl’s accidental force, or his arm scratched by her fingernails.
There was also a time when Qin Yunye was worried that she hadn’t eaten and insisted that she go out to eat.
Yu Huan wouldn’t listen at all and slapped him lightly on the face.
When she realised what she had done to Qin Yunye, she suddenly felt confused.
The young girl looked at him blankly.
That look made Qin Yunye’s heart tighten. With no energy left, he immediately hugged her, pressed his face against hers, and cooed, “It’s okay, it’s okay.
Yu Huan was silent for a moment and asked almost blankly,
‘Am I being particularly bad?
Qin Yunye was so good, and she still hit him.
No,” Qin Yunye said confidently, “you’re just under too much pressure.
Some emotional entanglements are inevitable in the end.
Even if it started as an act. But after she had unleashed all her pent-up emotions on Qin Yunye, something changed.
Later, when her work situation stabilised, Yu Huan adapted to her environment, the pressure eased, and her state of mind improved.
