Chapter 893: The Flat Land Space - 893
The trial takers disguised themselves in the city while they searched for clues. Some groups soon found the clues hidden around and made their way towards a location under the city.
The path there was stationed with hundreds of guards, each at least at the False Immortal realm.
With the talent of the trial takers, however, this was no issue at all. Eventually, a green fish that swam through the air took the item they had been instructed to take. It was simply an orb of light with no real function, but the trial takers didn't know that.
The fish was besieged by attacks from all directions, as was his group, but he made his way through all of it safely. The power of time was incredible at evasion.
The city was thrown into chaos as an open chase occurred.
But the trial takers didn't remain in the city for long, running after the fish to a distant location.
Nobody chased after them. Although they had made it challenging and had even killed a few of the trial takers, it was best not to take action for now.
While they had no plan to remain under these constraints forever, they still didn't have the slightest clue how to escape.
Every Sage Year, a group of trial takers would appear. The same people never reappeared twice. Each time, the first monster would ask them some questions, and each time only a few would die before the trial takers took the orb and fought amongst themselves for it.
The first monster grew rapidly, but hid his strength as well as he could. He didn't want to be seen as a variable or a threat.
Time passed without meaning for the most powerful beings in the Universe. There was no freedom. This was a prison. All they could do was lie in wait. A thousand Sage Years passed, and nothing seemed to change. Another thousand Sage Years passed. Then, five hundred Sage Years passed.
A wolf appeared in the sky. It was the same wolf that they had seen when they had first been instructed.
All of the most powerful beings appeared in the sky.
The wolf looked down on them arrogantly, though it seemed in a bit of a rush.
"For now, all of the trial realms are going to the center of the sovereign's territory. You can have some freedom for the time being, but don't do anything stupid. The sovereigns themselves will be keeping watch over you."
The wolf moved, and the ground shook. The land which had become the home of all life in the Universe moved rapidly through space. Everything was a blur, but the first monster was able to make out some sort of formation before the scenery stopped completely.
The first monster stood in the air as he looked outside. He saw space, stars, and hundreds of flat lands that looked like the one they lived on.
Above all of that was a large building floating in space.
Beings both powerful and weak looked down through glass floors at the appearing lands. There were many different types of beings, but the only constant was the fact that no humanoid beings existed.
The first monster soon returned to the ground, where he and the rest of the strongest beings had a brief meeting. The first monster had long decided to work alone.
Everyone waited a long time, but nothing unusual happened even after years passed.
They had even noticed some beings leaving the flat lands and traveling to other ones, so they decided to enter space for the first time in a long time.
The first monster went off on his own towards a distant flat land. When he reached it, he noticed that it was shockingly similar to his own flat land. Logically, the same being must have terraformed both of them.
The first monster investigated the flat land, but the average level of strength on it was lower than his own flat land.
He didn't stay for long, exploring hundreds of flat lands even as more and more appeared.
He found few with strength comparable to the people on his flat land, and even less with an average strength above his flat land.
He tried leaving the space with the flat lands, but an invisible barrier stopped him from moving any further.
He returned to his flatland, pondering everything.
There was no doubt that this was the opportunity he had spent 2.5k Sage Years waiting on. The only issue was that this was the territory of the sovereigns. If there was a single sovereign keeping watch, any plan would end in failure.
But based on how the wolf had looked earlier, he assumed that the sovereigns would be busy.
After a few more years, an announcement was heard. It completely filled up the space that contained the flat lands.
"Any non-humanoid being at the False Immortal realm or above are eligible to apply for citizenship within the Sovereign Tree. In five days, head to the top of the flat land space and wait below the tower."
The announcement cut off there. While there were a lot more humanoid beings on average in all of the flat lands, there were also a fair amount of powerful beasts. Naturally, the first monster was going to take this opportunity. He had been struggling on deciding what to do for a while and since the enemy was simply going to open their doors for him, who was he to refuse?
Five days later the first monster, the first beast, and a few other powerful non-humanoid beings from their flat land set out to the top of the flat land space.
When they arrived, there were already quite a few beings there. It didn't take long for a figure to appear. This figure was not a member of the six high clans. Instead, it was a lizard that was on the border of being considered humanoid, but not quite.
"Step forward one by one and identify yourselves." The lizard said.
