Chapter 25: Chapter 25 Upgrade
The next day didn't bring anything particularly exciting, just another normal day of lessons. But since it was Friday, Daniel now had two full days of free time to study, train, or explore the castle however he liked.
Waking up early and going through his usual morning routine, he noticed his friends were still snoring away in their beds. 'They usually wake up around now, but since there are no classes, I guess they won't,' he thought, chuckling to himself as he made his way downstairs to the common room.
The warm glow of the fireplace flickered against the walls, and the soft hum of morning silence filled the air. Settling into one of the comfy chairs, Daniel reflected on his first week at Hogwarts.
'It's surprisingly easy to gain Intelligence points just by reading books here.' He smiled 'I guess it's because of the sheer variety of books, some are magical, some are just novels, and there is so many of them that a normal human could read for decades non-stop and still not finish them all.'
He looked at his stats page:
[Name: Daniel Wilson]
[Level: 19 EXP: 0/10,000
Class: The Gamer
HP: 685/685
MP: 870/870
SP: 755/755
Strength: 63
Agility: 77
Vitality: 74
Intelligence: 94
Wisdom: 80
Charisma: 26
Luck: 20
Stat Points: 95]
His physical and mental stats looked solid, but his eyes drifted to Charisma and Luck.
'I need to figure out how to train these properly,' he mused. 'Charisma seems to increase from successful conversations, and Luck from lucky encounters...'
Thinking back, he realized that helping his classmates had boosted Charisma more than casual conversations. 'So, if I help larger groups, maybe I'll get even better gains?' He nodded to himself, making a mental note to test it out.
As for Luck, he had noticed it rising when he got rare item drops from mobs. 'Maybe gambling games like poker would work?' The idea made him wince, he didn't really like gambling 'I'd have to test that anyway, maybe not with real money, though.'
After analyzing his stats, he glanced at his level and felt satisfied.
'Already level 19, and I've only had the dungeon for a week.'
Closing his stats window, he pondered what to do next. 'I should push my magic training. Some of my skills are already close to level 100.'
With that decision made, he left the common room, found a quiet space, and began practicing magic.
One Week Later
[Name: Daniel Wilson]
[Level: 24 EXP: 18,750/40,000
Class: The Gamer
HP: 720/720
MP: 945/945
SP: 790/790
Strength: 66
Agility: 80
Vitality: 78
Intelligence: 99
Wisdom: 90
Charisma: 35
Luck: 28
Stat Points: 120]
Daniel grinned at his progress. 'Just one more point to hit 100 Intelligence...' He was tempted to spend a stat point, but he shook his head. 'Nah, I can grind it naturally.'
His Charisma and Luck training had been a success, too. Helping others had indeed raised Charisma faster, and after some careful experimenting, he confirmed that gambling did, in fact, boost Luck.
Satisfied, he closed his stats window and checked his 2 new skills:
[Basic Transfiguration (Passive) Lvl 1]
[- Helps with performing basic transfiguration
- Your basic transfigurations are 1% more effective]
[Basic Spells (Passive) Lvl 1]
[- Helps with performing basic charms and jinxes.
- Your basic charms and jinxes are 1% stronger.]
He had panicked at first when leveling his elementary spells and transfiguration to level 100 had replaced his old skills. He'd worried he had lost the +100% boost from before, but after some testing, he realized his spells were just as strong. He sighed in relief.
Still, now that his skills had evolved, he needed new spells to level them up further.
'It's the weekend, so I have time to look for new spells.' With that in mind, he made his way to the library.
The towering bookshelves stretched endlessly in every direction, filled with centuries' worth of magical knowledge. As Daniel wandered aimlessly, trying to find a book on spells, an annoyed thought crossed his mind.
'Why can't they just organize these properly?' He squinted at the mismatched titles, shaking his head.
Then, his eyes landed on something interesting:
"The Art of Invisibility: Mastering the Disillusionment Charm."
His excitement flared as he grabbed the book, but the moment he did, a notification popped up:
[Insufficient skill level. Requires at least Intermediate Spells skill.]
"Ughhh," Daniel groaned, slumping slightly as he returned the book to its shelf. 'Figures.'
A few minutes later, another title caught his attention: "The Freezing Charm and Its Uses."
'Now this looks promising.'
Grabbing the book, he flipped it open, and smiled as he eagerly clicked [Yes]. A rush of information surged into his mind, filling his head with the mechanics of the spell.
Glancing around to make sure no one was watching, he quietly slipped into his dungeon to test it out.
He plucked a random book from the shelf, tossed it into the air, then swiftly raised his wand.
"Immobulus!"
A soft blue light shot from his wand, striking the book mid-air. Instantly, it froze in place, completely motionless.
Daniel smirked. 'Nice.' He tested it out a few more times, ensuring he had it down. Satisfied, he exited the dungeon and went back to scanning the library.
'Alright, let's see what else I can learn.'
