The Gamer who traveled to Honkai: Star Rail

Chapter 331: Chapter 330: The Aurumaton Army and Kevin's Trial of Faith

From what Kevin had observed, the Doomsday Beast's relentless attacks could obliterate any city it targeted. He couldn't understand why the ground seemed untouched despite the intensity of its strikes, but he knew that if the beast reached the city, it would be catastrophic. He had come because Elysia claimed to have a solution.

And now she was saying she didn't know? Was she toying with him? That didn't seem like her. While she had a playful side, she wouldn't joke about something this serious.

Seeing Kevin's frustrated expression, Elysia chuckled cheerfully. "I wasn't lying~ I really don't know how to defeat the Doomsday Beast. But our planet's owner, the Trailblazers, know how to defeat the beast. In fact, they might even know how to completely destroy the Antimatter Legion."

As Elysia introduced them, Pei Guang and Stelle both stood up dramatically. Stelle placed her hands on her hips, tilting her head back proudly. "Stay low profile! Stay humble!"

Pei Guang, striking the same pose, countered with a grin: "Humble? No way! High profile! High profile!!"

March 7th, watching the two tilt their heads with exaggerated bravado, rolled her eyes.

"You two... doesn't your neck hurt holding that pose? Or are you not worried about ending up like me yesterday...?"

Stelle quipped back confidently, "Not at all!"

Stelle's sentence was abruptly interrupted by a sharp cracking sound. Her expression froze momentarily, but she cautiously tilted her head, testing it before lighting up with excitement.

"Hehe~ My neck's fine."

While Stelle's expression unfroze, Kevin's face turned rigid. He knew he wasn't the sharpest, but he couldn't help feeling like the two people in front of him weren't entirely in their right minds either.

These two? The ones who were supposed to deal with the Doomsday Beast? Somehow, Kevin found them highly unreliable.

"Am I dreaming?"

He pinched his cheek, the sharp pain confirming he was fully awake.

Elysia, observing his confused state, couldn't help but laugh softly. "Alright, alright, stop questioning everything. Trust me, they absolutely have a way to deal with the Doomsday Beast. Ah Guang~ why don't you share your plan? Give him a little confidence."

Pei Guang smirked. "The plan? Simple. Look at the Doomsday Beast—it's got two arms and an antimatter engine. Split your people into two groups, equip them properly, and have them pilot the 'Aurumatons' to fight it.

Oh, Aurumatons are what Xianzhou calls their combat robots. Relax, these machines are incredibly durable—even the Doomsday Beast won't be able to destroy them. You're my loyal soldiers; I wouldn't send you to your deaths! If we're going to fight, it's going to be a flawless victory."

Joking aside, Pei Guang wasn't about to waste loyal subordinates in a reckless fight. In a world where he could feel the warmth of a handshake and savor delicious food, he wasn't about to squander Elysia's people needlessly.

Loyal manpower was a precious resource, something he fully understood. Robots? He could request more from Xianzhou. But loyal, well-trained soldiers? Those took time and care to cultivate. With Elysia's forces at his disposal, he intended to treat them well.

And as for the Aurumatons? When Seele and Silver Wolf had been scouting the Artisanship Commission, they found their production lines largely untouched by the Abundance's corruption. They had discreetly collected all operational units and parts, including those awaiting activation: in total, there were around five or six hundred units—hardly a small number.

What about objections from the Commission's members? None. Those in the know turned a blind eye and wrote it off as "losses" in their reports. As for those who didn't know? They didn't even notice.

And even if someone tried to raise a fuss, there was no evidence tying the Aurumatons disappearance to Pei Guang's team. The Abundance's influence had scrambled all surveillance systems. Sure, someone claimed to have seen Seele's quick hands making things disappear, but as the saying went: no evidence, no case.

Now, about the combat capabilities of these Aurumatons? Pei Guang wasn't exaggerating. Even he would think twice before facing them head-on. They weren't something he could just cut through like the Tramplers.

Once again, never underestimate Xianzhou's technological prowess. As a faction that had fought the Abundance for millennia, often teetering on the brink of annihilation, their advancements were frighteningly sophisticated. Even the IPC wouldn't dare provoke the Xianzhou Alliance without a good reason.

That said, even the most advanced technology had its limits. Against Aeon-blessed Emanators, these mass-produced machines simply weren't up to par.

That said, while they couldn't handle Emanators, Xianzhou's technology was more than sufficient to deal with Voidrangers—and especially so with the Aurumatons. One or two wouldn't stand a chance against a Doomsday Beast, but what about five hundred? Still not enough? Then throw in Xianzhou's signature mechanized weapons.

And if that still doesn't do the job, there were always the cold weapons of the Cloud Knights, sharp enough to slice through the Abominations of Abundance like butter. Against a Doomsday Beast, even if its antimatter engine was untouchable, there were plenty of other places to strike.

Pei Guang's words left Kevin looking utterly bewildered.

"What on earth…? Robots defeating a Doomsday Beast? Are we playing some kind of strategy game?"

His confusion only deepened when Pei Guang conjured a towering, two-meter-tall humanoid machine, its mechanical frame trembling with latent energy. And when Pei Guang handed him a clunky-looking remote controller, Kevin's skepticism turned into outright disbelief.

The remote was crude—so much so that he suspected Pei Guang might be joking.

To be fair, the simplicity wasn't Pei Guang's fault: the Xianzhou artisans of the Artisanship Commission had a penchant for retro designs. As long as the equipment functioned properly, a little ruggedness in appearance was no big deal.

Kevin studied the remote, then glanced back at the vibrating Aurumaton. "This… can kill the Doomsday Beast?"

Pei Guang smirked. "Well, if you want to use it to stab yourself, be my guest. Just don't mess with my population—people are a valuable resource."

Elysia, noticing Kevin's befuddled expression, stepped forward with a reassuring smile. "Trust him. And trust me—I'd never gamble with your life. If something went wrong, Mei would never forgive me, and I couldn't bear to be hated by such a lovely girl forever."

Kevin fell silent. Elysia was always an enigma, a figure both kind and mysterious within the Fire Moths. While her demeanor seemed carefree, there were times when she acted as though she carried the weight of unspoken regrets.

What kind of mistakes could someone like Elysia have possibly made? He couldn't figure it out, but one thing was certain: she would never put her comrades in harm's way. Her compassion simply wouldn't allow it. If she ever did… well, perhaps the world deserved to end.

With a deep breath, Kevin nodded. "Alright. As long as this plan helps us defeat the Antimatter Legion and the Doomsday Beast, I'll follow your lead without hesitation."

Pei Guang grinned. "Good. Like I said, everyone who comes here will return in one piece. If anyone's going to die, I'd rather it be the higher-ups who took my loyal troops and left us in this mess."

As Kevin and the newly arrived Fire Moth soldiers prepared themselves, the Doomsday Beast was still furiously attacking an unseen target—the trash can that continued to baffle and frustrate it. Meanwhile, the soldiers were outfitted with advanced equipment and handed three Aurumaton controllers.

The total number of soldiers wasn't large—just 149 when everyone was accounted for, and adding Kevin made it 150. With each person holding three remote controllers, there were still spares left over.

After a series of preparations, 450 Aurumatons were ready and poised to march toward the Doomsday Beast.
